You must work for psa . It should not be extra for any type of grading . It costs psa the same whether they grade a low end card and a high end card . The upcharge is a scam no matter how you see it . PSA is the only company that does it . Unfortunately everyone loves PSA so people put up with the up charges . I usually like all your videos but this ain’t it .
Pikapikapapa says it makes sense to him and he does make a lot of sense on a lot of things, but paying more for a card because it grades higher and adds value makes zero sense to me. Plain as day money grab.
@@PokeccinoCardsBut the insured shipping cost is paid by the buyer as well, and it's very pricey. Shipping on my cheap bulk orders is now around $50 on average.
@@PokeccinoCards that seems like it should be paid for as a flat rate by the consumer beforehand at whatever level they agree upon. Insurance costs is still being passed onto the consumer so PSA isn’t really paying for it.
The one thing I will applaud is that the submission process (ie. Locating the cards in PSA’s system) is much faster. I recently sent in a 45-card submission and was done in under an hour.
Too many people denouncing card grading do not know the history of card collecting or collecting in general. If you don't like the idea of grading cards just don't grade cards or buy graded cards. It's that simple. The market clearly is in favor of card grading.
If you are removing surface swirls or scratches at all. Thats altering the card. It’s akin to car paint, anything beyond taking a cloth and rubbing off is altering. It takes a chemical or filler and integrates that into the card material to some degree.

Problem we ran into is they thought my card was worth more so they charged me a lot more. I showed them the last 5 cards sold on ebay well below the threshold. But because they found 1 above the threshold they still charged me. So their process can have a lot of grey area as to what the card is actually worth.
Appreciate your insights bc I’m not up on news like this. Dude need ur advice-> I’ve been submitting through this dude and his service. But he’s charging like $21 per card I guess I just don’t wanna deal with sending out the cards and I have a bit anxiety around doing it. Idk any thoughts?
Big fan of these changes, I’ve had cards in the past that would have eclipsed the grading tier that I feel the grader just gave them a 9 to save them the trouble. Not a fan of only having 5 days to report any errors that they’ve made (I.e. debris in the case, no photo, case damage, etc) Just had a 50+ card submission come back and 3/4 of them are cracked at the top right in the middle. Need to fix their sealing process.
The problem is if they upcharge you for cards that are no longer the high value PSA says they are. Before you could challenge it with proof of last few sales and you wouldnt be up charged, now there taking that away. Game Stop also states when subb. cards you wont be up charged unless you approve it so how is that ganna work now? You pay for grading up front at Game Stop no credit card info. So now maybe the play is to grade w/ gamestop and still have the option to pay the up charge or not.
The biggest scam is they charge you more based on the value of your card even though the grading process is the exact same. Would you not conclude that this gives PSA an incentive to grade cards higher than they should?
So if card does not have expect value, will psa refund the money ? Bloody thieves. I understand cardsaver1 rule, but what if its the same type of sleeve, just different brand ? If this is exact wording from their new T&Cs, they will have perfect excuse to charge people even more
I still don’t understand why psa is still the most valuable. There have been loads of psa 10 card’s resubmitted to different grading companies and haven’t achieved a 10. Psa clearly gives out 10’s like there going out of fashion. Usually a 9 from another company would easily hit a 10 from psa. That being said tho it works out well for me because I buy 9’s that haven’t been graded by psa and crack them open and resubmit them to psa and 75% of the time I achieve the psa 10 and can charge a higher premium for the card. My main source is buying ace graded 9’s or pg 9.5s and they hit psa 10 most of the time. An ace 10 or pg 10 card is in much better condition than a psa 10 card so I still don’t know why psa is the most valuable
The auto taking of money at their discretion doesn’t sound good to me. Sending them in a certain way makes sense, cleaning the cards is lame and should devalue the cards with a description in the label or maybe a colored line across it that is easily visible. With proper testing to prove it was cleaned of course.
This is great news! I've been waiting since August 11th for my 45 Pokemon card submission to come back. One thing I don't get is why the US only has 2 PSA grading offices, Cali & NJ, where I live. Why hasn't PSA expanded yet? I held onto 52 cards until 3 weeks ago. I'd hoped my 45 card submission would be back by now. Many ppl wait until a recent submission returns to submit new batches of cards.. If PSA had say, 3 more offices spread out with I dunno, 30 more graders, the turnaround time would be even sooner. That 30 day or 20 day goal could easily be met. It's simple math. More graders = faster return time, right?
Moral of the story. Look into TAG grading. Fixed grading cost, super clean slab, 10 day grading for lowest tier grading and customer service blows PSA out of the water without even trying. You want to bulk ship to TAG for grading? If you sending enough cards, they send you the card savers and the box to ship it to them with a label. PSA is such a scam to collectors. If they wanted to be in it for the collectors. They would have fixed grading cost....
What? They've already been automatically up charging for years now. I did my first submission 3yrs ago and right away they up charged me and didn't ask to do it. They just did it. I am so lost here as to what u are saying.
They damage the cards sometimes?! I get cards back EVERY SUBMISSION that have super clear and long scratches. I bet one card for 40min and take pics. I'd have seen these scratches as they are quite clear. They sent one back last week that had an entire square scratched out on the back. A clear white square that wasn't there before. So sometimes?! What do they pay u to say bullshit like that?

Charging more for grading a card because it’s higher value is such a scam. Does it cost psa more to grade a $501 card than a $499 card?
Pikapikapapa says it makes sense to him and he does make a lot of sense on a lot of things, but paying more for a card because it grades higher and adds value makes zero sense to me. Plain as day money grab.
It’s due to higher insurance. PSA covers insurance for the return shipping and it costs more to insure a $501 card than a $499 card.
@@PokeccinoCardsBut the insured shipping cost is paid by the buyer as well, and it's very pricey. Shipping on my cheap bulk orders is now around $50 on average.
@@davidk.1917 that’s price is still based on keeping the cards under the 499 mark though. Once they surpass that they need to be further insured.

I agree. Most don’t know the history of grading the added value is only one thing. Selling is bigger than no returns with not as described junk.
Congrats to your family!!!! 🎉
Awesome info, thank you!!

Great video thanks for the info.
Thanks my friend!!
PSA should send back our card savers when they grade our cards. It’s annoying to buy them, package cards and then never get them back again.
Read somewhere that they cut along the edge to remove the cards

Only reason someone might not want to agree to upcharge is if they want to argue the card comps are less than the value PSA assigns.
Hope you're sister had a great wedding and your family had a great trip
Thank you! It was awesome!

I see nothing wrong with any of these changes. I love it.
What do they meen with cardsaver 1? I always send them in the (bigger) ultra pro semi rigid holders. Will that be ok in the future?
European here, its already 80€ (abt 82$) to send a card to PSA :/. I cant grade anything....
