I remembered the 3rd song was also sung by the Champion choir Madrigal singers.. But this is more youthful or playful or flexible and higher key because of the kids voices and the quantity of the singers involved even without bamboo or clinging bracelets that the Madrigal singers used during their day. The song is equally haunting..
Congratz for singing three ethnic songs wonderfully. Filipinos are really multi-linguistic. Imagine you have to learned 3 different ethnic languages in order for you to sing these songs. That really is superb.
I love the Ethnic/tribal music, dances and songs more than the Filipino folk songs... its just tribal songs existed way before the folk songs and they always tell a mystical story, some with comedy while others in tragedy. they also tell stories about the old gods and heroes...Sad to say they don't get that much get that much recognition outside mindanao unlike those some in visayas and luzon...
Papanok? are these children coming from the T'boli tribe? Are they singing about the chicken or the sarimanok? But "Ilay akan" is a Meranao sentence which means "look at me" or is this phrase being shared by other tribes in Mindanao... Ahhh, I am from Mindanao but the culture in this island is seemingly foreign to me still . Or is it because the island is huge cradling so much culture that what I learned is just a a very small percent of what has been existing? The choir has performed so well.. Congratulations! Thank you, Busan Choral for this video. I am much thankful!!!
how'd you say mindanao culture seemingly foreign to you??? remember that their culture existed before the colonialization of the Philippines which means their culture is more filipino than luzon and visaya's which is their culture have mixed with western especially the spanish.
