Isnt it amazing? Look at this ragged Raw wrecked man.And think of how much we love him. With Shane,it isnt looks that hooks you,its he himself. And,yes,I think he's an angel too. I love Shane McGowan, have since the day he gave me the Guinness that ended up giving me a black eye.I was in my early 30's. I fell head over heels with this unkempt guy,and Ill love him till the day I die.

Oh my God Tina Was the 'struggle' for both of you? I think she is free of this place now - It's very beautiful there - where she is. This song was one of the first I learned in my life. My family is Irish on my fathers side, and my "Gran" taught me this song. One of my most treasured "posessions".

      Angelica Luce
Thank you so much for the note.
My Mom was 89. All Scottish. Some part Irish.
Didn’t get Dementia. The last four years, everyone is gone.
I spent every Sunday and some Saturdays visiting her at the long term care facility.
Many times we took her dinner, because institutional slop isn’t very tasty.
She had a private room so I would close the door and we would chit chat for hours.
I often took her for long drives around our county, past the Farm, where she grew up at and to many other places.
We burned a lot of fuel.
Towards the end I had to lift her into the car.
Many people visited her and the facility staff all loved her dearly.
Her health declined and slowly she died.
Last Night was like being in a storm.
She died as she lived, like a trooper.
No medical interference. Wouldn’t go to the hospital.
I was with her for all of it.
Held her hand, talked to her. I know she heard me a few times, her hand, the slightest squeeze
At the end she drowned. I couldn’t do anything about it.
After she past. I cleaned her up. Combed her hair. Put her Tartan blanket on her.
      The most amazing thing happened.
The worry and concerns of life melted away.
Like the end of the Storm.
She started to radiate and her youth came back.
I experienced rapture and stayed by her side to witness that until noontime.
It took eight hours to come out of the states I was in.
I totally love this Shane’s version of “ she moved through the fair “
I play it often. Drumming it on my legs.
I am David. My wife is Tina.
Thank you for hearing some of my story Angelica and helping me.

@@tinahaynes696 I know it's been a few years since you posted this, but it just hit me square. End of life struggles are the stuff of the deeply conflicted way of reckoning with this thing we call mortal life. Joy, sorrow, and everything in between; before, during, and after the "storm". Beautiful and heartbreaking, for mature appetites only.

    of living beings.
Loving the beautiful is just too easy, superficial and without the true rewards of the hearts and spirit.

Mike I think you may have misunderstood. I'm referring to the band Celtic Woman, not celtic women in general. Sinead O'Connor does a lovely version and I see you've been listening to Loreena McKennit and Sandy Denny. Anne Briggs may be English but she also carries this rather well.
Now, search for "celtic woman she moved through the fair" and tell me how it compares, cos I think it's up there with Michael Flatley for portraying saccharine tourist Oirish, but that's just my opinion :)
