You’ll never know until you try it! I’d say go for it!
Follow your dreams. I also left my friends behind in germany, but its not a problem because we're well connected and now its a special ocation if I come over. Dont worry, the exams may be hard, but they are hard for everyone, so its okay, because youre all in this together.
oh I feel for you. the 4-hour exams at ETH are really tough. I have had only one of them (Ana I/II) and that‘s more than enough.

exam sessions are the worst! especially the one in summer
@@psitsmaria At least the air cooling and conditioning works in all of the buildings.. otherwise one can still learn at home in just underpants like I did.. 🙄
But I'd rather say winter break is worse, same amount of exams, less time to learn, Christmas and New Year are distracting and only few free days after the exam before semester starts again.

I was very glad that the exams were not online because then they would have been very different from the previous exams and it would have been harder to prepare.
From what I’ve heard everything went smoothly at the exams and there were no cases reported as a result of the exams (but I might be wrong.)
3rd year chemistry student here. Yeah exam study and exam session take forever and are so scary, but good friends you can study with make it kinda bearable 😅

I’m far from a role model at ETH believe me 😅 thank you however! I think I had 8 exams during summer, I have 6 exams right now in the winter exam session and I usually study 8-10 hours during exams

Do all the excercises, write summarys and study for your life during the semester breaks. ;-)
Besides the excercise sessions Marco already pointed out, the second most important thing, in my opinion, are your courses student assotiation. They collect old exams, organize social events and simplify your student life in general (some even provide free coffee and/or beer)

How tough is the admission criteria in M.Arch in ETHz? Here in India, B.Arch takes 5 years to complete (equivalent to 150 ects). My daughter is studying B.Arch (presently in 7 th semester out of 10) with 70% marks so far. After completing B.Arch, she wants to do her master's in ETHz. Is the marks enough ? Or is it purely depending upon the quality of the portfolio? Can you please give me an idea?
i have seen many students in the US get a 4.00/4.00 in top uni, but I have seen none in Switzerland getting a 6.00/6.00

what calculator do you use ??
I use a simple Casio FX-991ES plus, the one you saw in the video is a programmable TI that I borrowed from a friend and didn’t end up using it cause it was way too complicated
How do you manage your notes? When do you use the iPad and when do you use a pencil and notebook?
I use the ipad for taking notes and studying the presentation and I use paper for solving exercises
Ps it's Maria Are the material that the teachers use to give the lesson (presentation) available afterwards or are they not saved anywhere?
most of the profs give out the material before the lecture so that you can follow along and some of them reupload it afterwards including their notes
why are there so few ETHz youtubers? probably studying 24/7 and not having time to make videos instead haha

Hello :) yes I passed, I studied the series and solved old exams. I’ve never studied at the NTUA but I have a lot of friends who study there. Idk how the exams are exactly, but imo it wouldn’t be as hard as ETH, you can tell even by looking at the rankings. A lot of people cheat in the exams there, here if you cheat you can get kicked out of the uni, so no one even tries to. Don’t get me wrong every engineering program is hard to graduate from, you have to study a lot, but I’ve seen people pass only by studying during the exams in Greece and this is usually the case. Here if you don’t study daily you don’t have even the slightest chance to pass.

Did you pass the exam eventually? I hope you did, so you don't have to retake it again. I was in the exact same exam (you might have seen me sometimes) and I failed it. This exam session is really really hard, especially the Thermo and Physik I part. Anyway, wish you the best.

They speak swiss German in Switzerland so even with German you’ll have some difficulties. English works everywhere

For ETH you need high proficiency of german level C1+

Most I had where in English and almost all of the ones that where held in German offered excercise sessions in English as well as the written exams in English (however this might vary between different studies!). In general it'd be good if you understand some German at least
Hi! Love the vlog. Have you had any experience with any (incoming) exchange students? Are they going to ETH for no-life study sessions? Or are they actually chill and want to travel and party. Hope you know it!
I was going for autumn exchange there (from TU Delft) but it got deferred to spring semester due to COVID. So I kinda already got the credits at that time, so looking for a fun time as well.
spring semester is always cooler than the autumn semester, you can do so many things then! I’ve a met some exchange students, most of them are usually down to party and have fun

you have to get a good grade in the exam and then send the main assistant or the prof an email that you’re interested

Review stuff that you have learned every single day in the evening
Don’t miss out on exercises and feel free to help your classmates and ask for help from them
Your assistants are an amazing source of help and guidance
Staying healthy is crucial (sleep, food, exercise)
Consistent work is better than bursts of work time

also: failure isn't the worst thing that can happen.
we get two tries for a reason - as long as you learn something (that is isn't the uni or subject for you, what you did wrong and how to study the next time, *anything*) you're doing great.
i did the basis year twice, and no one will care about it in the end.
cut yourself some slack while adjusting to the change from school, you don't have to be perfect right away.
Hi I'm 14 at the moment but I'm also very passionate about chemical engineering. I did research and came across ETH Zürich and its classed 4th best worldwide so I obviously have set a goal to go there. I only have some questions since you go to ETH. we take the exams for the “main” classes in blocks, so you can either pass all of them if you get a passing average grade or fail all of them
@@psitsmaria one exam in many blocks? Lets say u gave Analysis, hm, la, robotik. If u fail in one exm, then u fail in whole exm???
no you get an average grade of all of these exams and it has to be above 4 to pass

το καλό με τα ονλαιν είναι ότι μπορείς να τα παρακολουθήσεις όποτε σε βολεύει αλλά δυσκολεύομαι πολύ να συγκεντρωθώ, βγήκαν αυτή την βδομάδα, περάσαμε :)
