Omg... 3 and a half minutes in and I already learned something new! Haha always wanted to paste in the exact same spot but never really figured it was a thing Illustrator could do.
The way you're presenting your trade is just so awesome & entertaining at the same time. Enjoying every single video of your channel. Keep it up Will, love it👍
This is satisfying to watch the outcome was very nice. I think pathfinder's merge option is more easier than the shape builder at this point 7:35 Thanks
I am using a older version of Ai (illustrator) CS5... I guess I need to update my software. I don't have the option to adjust my square shape like this. I am getting back into graphics after more than 11 years.
Hey Will - love your channel and everything you do. Forgive me if you have this type of video and I have missed it. But what I would love is a video where you explain how to properly deliver a logo to a client once it's finished. I usually deliver logos in both RBG, CMYK and PANTONE colors. I would love to get tips on the workflow around this and how you perform this? Cheers from Sweden, Johan
Search for Wacom Bamboo or Huion tablets! :) As for the iPad - most models now have the ability to use Apple pencil - so get what you can afford :) Hope this helps.
Your work is really fantastic...I have been watching u for quite sometime so, I wanted to ask ,"Do u get clients from Behance or not"..........Love this tutorial as always
And nowhere in the video do you say what software you’re using That’s ok but for the whole video you’re describing keyboard shortcuts for whatever software you’re using. It looks like Adobe to me but they are all more or less the same UI nowadays with 50,000 keyboard shortcuts to learn Can you give us a hint what you’re using please?
Love this video. As a more advanced designer, I would appreciate a more thorough tutorial. Very nice digital artwork but as a logo it’s a bit sloppy and impractical. Seems like it wouldn’t translate to a mono logo very well and the anchor points are a legitimate concern. That last “drippy” part is an exception to what could have been a mostly balanced logo. Would love to see a professionally polished, final product. What might be really cool would be a longer format video which included some of your work flow such as how you organize files, what file types you save as, logic behind decision making, etc. When it comes down to it though, a very easy to look at, eye-pleasing piece. Keep up the good work!
alright man.. this has many flaws when it comes to logo Design its almost a must to work with a cmyk document, even if its only intended for digital use. the icon ended up with many Anchor points which is a big no-no, and might cause serious troubles when scaling the logo or when you try to create a die-cut.
Mustafa Al Tuhafy Why would you need to work in cmyk if it’s only ever going to be used for digital? There are lots of anchor points but this in not such a huge issue.
Firstly, This is just a tutorial Secondly - this can be converted back to CMYK Thirdly - I know about the anchor points - but I'm not going to fix them in the video and spend hours refining the logo. The video is intended to teach a workflow and an effect. Thanks for watching though :)
It looks extremely awkward and unbalanced that just one shape has a completely different attributes. You always brag about grid system and that it's already implanted in your eyes or something but you don't actually use it when needed. Good logos are mathematically calculated, shapes aren't just drawn in the middle of the art board, their dimensions and mostly placement are determined by other elements' dimensions and placements. A correct logo can not be made out of random shapes. The psychology of our brains trains us to appreciate mathematical symmetry and even the least professional eye would be negatively affected by a wrongly executed composition.
Don't be a prisoner to grids. Yes, they do help - but they aren't always needed. Too many designers think just because they used a grid their design is perfect, that simply isn't true.
This is definitely not what I implied. I was referring to the bit in this very video. This logo does look unbalanced, you choose the tool you use to make it look visually correct, whether it is a grid or Fibonacci sequence or whatever you wish. Logo is not the book, it's just the cover, if you want your design to be incorrect because it serves your branding essence, grand! I'm all in for that, but when a logo looks off, even the least professional eye could immediately tell that something is wrong and you don't want 'wrong' associated with your brand.

my graphic design course doesn't teach me a lot of stuff on programs, most of it is using printmaking and scanning it in and drawing . Is this normal?
