I learned to dance cuban salsa in the mid nineties. I was lucky to have a cuban teacher Mateo. He was good, especially because he originally taught sports in Cuba. He explained how the man leads in casino. I never had another teacher that did this. We danced Rueda de Casino and this way you dance with a lot of different partners. At least in danish we have an expression: “she is easy to dance with”. It all depends on “chemistry” but when the connection during dancing is there, it is really wonderful. Keep on dancing.
Some schools, not Baila, say that 90% of the problem is the lead. I think it's closer to 60%. That being said, I will always assume it's my fault and strive to do better. In a class I may help less advanced students by giving them a few tips, like hand position or feet orientation. Knowing the steps of both leaders and followers helps understand the dynamics of the dance and the associated leads. So leaders, when the teachers show the followers moves, also try it, it's included in the cost if the class already. 😊
Ultimatly, I think it doesnt really matter who makes the error its just more pleasant to interact with a problem solver then someone who constantly corrects you;) i worked with both type of partner and the problem solver is way more fun cause she includes herself in the problem… its a way of talking that is more open and made me more receptive… that way if you speak like you caused the issue your partner becomes naturally more helpful;) its human nature at work;)
@@SalsaBailaProductions The only kind of follower I correct, without their request for help, is the grab fingers and turn one. Even though the lead was with only 2 fingers, I wound up in a brace and physio for 6 weeks because of that issue. So I correct early in that case.
You are supposed to be dancing with each other, and not, as so often, just next to each other. So the answer is that you cannot do that figure together...Talk about connection....
