These power banks seem to be getting better and better, with prices getting more affordable. I genuinely see them becoming most people's 1st choice in their van builds over the next few years. My LiPo4 electrical system has cost me circa £6k, taken months of research and head scratching, not to mention a good chunk of space in our van. If I could buy a similar one box plug and play unit with the same capacity, that cost less to buy, and took next to no time to install, I would jump on it.
Totally agree - it seems to be the way it's going, especially as the inverter / charger brand manufacturers don't seem to be picking up on the fact they are being massively undercut and trying to keep their prices high. 12 months ago separates were cheaper but not now
Remember when we used to carry around a Mobile Phone, Filofax, MP3 Player, Still Camera, Video Camera, Calculator.....now no-one would dream of it with a Smartphone in your pocket. I can see a time we look back and say remember when we used to carry around and wire up ourselves a battery, Inverter, Solar Charger, B2B Charger, Mains Charger......

Quite an interesting discussion. I’ve got the earlier version of the Aferiy and use it on my off grid caravan. The 12volt connection is very useful because it will do the startup on the diesel heater as well as running the 12v led lighting. I have a 2000wh hot plate for cooking when I’m fishing, I then recharge the Aferiy with 2-100w solar panels. I fully charge the Aferiy at home and then manage the usage accordingly. It’s also used around the home, saves having cables around the place, put it next to where you’re sat and plug in the devices. Going back to the 12v connection, it does surprise me that many of these type of power stations only have the 10amp option. I am not going to charge at an EV station. Do I need Bluetooth? It’s nice to have but not essential in my case. Please carry on with your reviews, your observations are very useful.

Am i correct in thinking that the input side can be used for mains power on one input, and the other input can be used for solar charging and also via a cigarette socket lead - but its not supplied with the power station
Hi yes that’s correct. Mains lead is included and Solar panel connection lead with MC4 connectors for the panel.
You could make a lead up with cigarette lighter plug and MC4 connectors to use the solar lead.
Or make up a lead with a cigarette lighter plug and XT90 connector.
Great clear video, thank you. Also, when you say it can connect to the leisure battery system if it’s low, how is it connected as if it’s direct to the battery, won’t it be sending 12v to the battery and the battery trying to send 12v to the Aferiy which may be an issue? Thanks.
Hi, thanks glad its helpful! Great question, we operate it basically as a second separate battery source and have a switch over so we can select to run the 12 volt system in the van from the main Leisure battery or from the 12v outlet of the Aferiy, we don't connect it direct to the main leisure battery.
Alternatively you could run the 12v power permanently from the Aferiy and then use the Laiesure battery to recharge the Aferiy using the DC/DC converter we show in this video.

Any chance of doing a video (or linking to an existing one that you rate) as a pre-runner to this one? There's plenty of us brand new to the idea of a power station rather than a petrol generator, and all the watts, watt hours, and amps guff has me lost
Hi! I wouldn't compare a Power Station to a Generator - The best comparison is to a Battery (and its ancillaries).

I purchased an Aferiy power station about a month or so ago. Worth being aware that it doesn’t come with a cigarette charger as standard. You have to buy one or Aferiy we’re doing a free cable if you left a review when I bought it.
Good point. I just made up a cigarette lighter to MC4 solar plugs so that I can use with it any power stations solar lead, saves having to have a different 12 volt lead for each one.

Hi, if you check back in our videos you can see we've reviewed quite a few Banggood products and never had any issues.
We've found them easy to orderfrom, their delivery times great (expecially when coming from UK Warehouse), no issues with the products and when coming from abroad all the Tax and import duty is included in the price so no worries about a suprise when it arrives.
We use this unit as our primary source of 240v when off grid and have done since we produced the video and it has been faultless.
so, I am interested in a solution like this to primary run my CRX50 fridge in my van. The fridge is 40w so does that mean this could potentially run my fridge alone for just over 50 hours? I am no electrical expert as I'm sure you can tell ha ha. I was thinking of connecting this to my EHU to supplement the leisure battery I have installed. Would it work ok? Thanks
Hi, glad you like it. Theoretically yes a 40w Fridge would run for 50 Hours with nothing else connected and nothing charging the power bank.
However it may vary a little depending on the outside temperature as that would depend how hard the fridge would have to work to keep it cool. The 40w is probably an average.
Yes you could plug your EHU cable into the P210 - however personally I would run any 12v devices you want to direct from the P210 rather than using theP210 to charge your Leisure battery via a mains charger as change DC to AC back to DC would give you some losses.
So in short - power what you can direct from the P210 - if you do plug your EHU into it (to power the mains sockets in your van) make sure your mains battery charger for your Leisure battery is switched off.

You can get a cigarette lighter socket lead to charge it, this plugs into the XT90 socket that the solar panels use, howver is limited to just over 100W charging at 12v.
You can see in this video th-cam.com/video/3-58lmv2C2w/w-d-xo.html where we use a DC/DC converter to up the voltage to 24v so it will charge at 470W.

Do you mean could you plug the Van hook up lead into the power station to charge the van leisure battery?
You could but it wouldn’t be the most efficient going from DC to AC back to DC. You’d be better off doing as we do and using the 12 volts straight from the power station for any 12 volt items if the Leisure battery gets low.
Or do you mean could you charge the Power Station from the mains socket in the van when the van is plugged into a mains hook up. Yes absolutely that’s what we do. The 1.1 kW charging rate is just under 5 Amps at mains 230v 240v. Most hook ups are plenty capable of that. You may just need to be careful what else you use at the same time to avoid tripping the hook up breaker.
I was wondering if he meant, use it as if it was the mains hook up through one of the 240v outlets on it, and adapt that to the mains hook up port on the campervan, then use the solar to recharge during the day, I am currently sited on a seasonal pitch and the electric rate is not cheap, so I was wondering if this would workout cheaper during the summer months
Yes you could do that, you’d just have to think about what you were running from it to make sure you’re not being in efficient eg charging the Van battery via the in van mains battery charger.

AFERIY CHARGE VERY HIGH RETURN COST, TRY TO MAKE YOU NOT TO RETURN. I bought it due to many youtube introduce, so I thought it is good brand so I boguht it. However, It asked for a double shipping charge when i request to return. Even they said it is free delivery, but when you return, they ask you pay also their delivery cost. means you have to pay both ways. I seldom see this kind of company in UK, normally free delivery products, when we return, we just need to pay our own return delivery cost.
IN THIS CASE, YOU HAVE TO PAY VERY HIGH COST WHEN YOU HAVE ANY RETURN. BETTER THINK OF OTHER BRAND.
I do have allpowers station as well, their service very good. At least will not ask you pay back the stated "free delivery cost" when return. Recommand you to buy other better aftersell service brand. Afterall, not only the product itself is important, but also after sales service also very important.
Hi, did you purchase from Aferiy direct? Our purchase link is from Banggood not direct, whose return policy says their “No Reason” returns you only need to pay to send it back.
Was the unit faulty? Why did you want to return it?
It's not that good. It doesn't have a 12v 30amp to charge up. It can't charge up from an EV station like the Bluetti can (they also have the 12v30amp). Plus the battery is Lithium-iron and not the much better Lifepo4 battery. So no thanks.

You can see it charging at 500w (40Amps) from 12v with the addition of £40 DC converter at the end of the video. (Future video to come on this as it’s a great way to boost the 12v charging capacity on most Portable Power Stations (including most Bluetti models) that as standard limit 12 volt charging to 10 Amps for use with a car cigarette lighter socket)
You seem to be a bit confused on the names of the different Lithium Battery chemistry. There is no such thing as “Lithium Iron”. I think you mean Lithium Ion which is the older battery tech and definitely not used in this one. This has LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries, as I say in the video, and is clear in the specs. This is the same battery tech as used in the Bluetti.
Out of interest which Bluetti model are you comparing it to?
The EV charging option could be useful for some (but not us) but you can buy EV type 2 to UK 13 Amp socket cables, then you could use it for all power banks and to charge the van battery too.
It still may not be the right choice for you but it may be for others, so I need to make sure they aren’t misled by your comment.
@@ExploreVanUK Wow. Very defensive and angry !!! At 3:06 you said yourself "Lithium Ion". 12v 10amps most things you can power up. But anything over 10 amps and you can run into problems (just like you said). Yes you can buy cables for the Bluetti to charge from an EV station. There are a few YT videos about this!!!! The power outage at an EV station is the same as changing at home (240 in the UK). And I am taking about the Bluetti AC200 Max (not the new AC 200L). And you charge this from EV stations and will cost around 20-40p depending on battery size. (some times it's free has they think it should be an electric car plugged in drawing a lot of kwh. But your power station will only draw around 1.5 - 2 kwh. So some EV stations don't charge you anything)! You can fix your van so you can plug in to shore power (you should be able to do this with most power stations, if not all). Solar, the Aferiy can only input max of 500w and can take up to 4 hours (and that is if you have full sun)! Where the Buletti can take up to 900w. (the new AC200L can take 1200w of solar). Charging by your generator (old school). Duel charging with BOTH AC and solar at the same time (didn't hear you say if yours can, or did I miss it)? Plus you can buy and connect extra Bluetti battery's to double or triple your battery storage. You didn't say if yours (what's it called?) can have extenedable batteries added to it or not?
