Dying by immersion in water is drowning, not being able to breathe. Crucifixion also killed by asphyxiation since hanging from the cross made it difficult/impossible to breathe, and yet was painful to lift oneself up by nailed feet. This is why the soldiers would break the legs of the crucified to make death come quickly.
You are right. Also from the point of view of the passover, the sacrificial lamb was to be without physical defect, exodus 12:46. Jesus, being our passover lamb, offered himself without broken bones. Remain blessed.
John did baptise with water for repentance and the remission of sin ..thus Jesus received all our sin through John's baptism of him ... it was God's will for him to be baptised to fill in full all righteousness ... only now can he go to the cross as he has received our sin, now he can give us his righteousness (salvation) ... furthermore ...Jesus will baptise with the holy spirit and fire conveying both purifying the Godly and destroying the wicked
Brant, Have you considered Jesus' baptism as the first step in His ordination as High Priest of heaven and earth. The first step in Aaron and his 4 sons' ordination was washing by a priest (Moses or John) at the entrance. This washing was topped off by Mary of Bethany during His ordination week, the last week of His life and including His resurrection.
Correct, the Baptism in the River Jordan is Jesus "ordination" just like KIng Saul and King David was consecrated and anointed by Prophet Samuel to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Also we can see it from St.Paul in Acts 13-1-ff. The Prophets is needed for "ordination & consecration" and to invoke the Holy Spirit to come down. And God does nothing without a Prophet. (Amos1:3). If John the Baptist the Great Prophet "ordained" Jesus. The mystery question is, Archangel Gabriel is not just a Great Prophet, he is a "Celestial Prophet". Did Archangel Gabriel "ordained" Mary into a Royal Priesthood, a Queen Priest of Heaven and Earth? Yes!..Mary Virgin Priest, pray for us. (St,Pius X, 1906)
Old Covenant Baptism vs. New Covenant Baptism (water vs. Spirit) Water baptism was a part of the Old Covenant system of ritual washing. The Old Covenant priests had to wash before beginning their service in the temple. (Ex. 30:17-30) When Christ was water baptized by His cousin John in the Jordan River, He was under the Old Covenant system. He also only ate certain foods, and wore certain clothes, as prescribed by the 613 Old Covenant laws. Christ was water baptized by John and then the Holy Spirit came from heaven. The order is reversed in the New Covenant. A person receives the Holy Spirit upon conversion, and then believers often declare their conversion to their friends and family through a water baptism ceremony. Which baptism makes you a member of Christ’s Church? The New Covenant conversion process is described below. (Born-again) Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (A person must “hear” the Gospel, and “believe” the Gospel, and will then be “sealed” with the Holy Spirit.) Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (See Jer. 31:34 for the New Covenant promise, and 1 John 2:27 for the fulfillment) ============ Which baptism is a part of the salvation process, based on what the Bible says? What did Peter say below? Acts 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text. Based on the above, what is the one baptism of our faith found in the passage below? How many times is the word "Spirit" found in the passage, and how many times is the word "water" found in the passage? Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (See 1 Cor. 12:13) “baptize” KJV Mat_3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Mar_1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Water or Holy Spirit?, See Eph. 1-13.) Luk_3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Joh_1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; Joh_1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 1Co_1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (See Eph. 4:1-5) Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. Watch the TH-cam videos “The New Covenant” by David Wilkerson, or Bob George, and David H.J. Gay.
The book he is referring to is wonderful but not an easy one, and to have Dr. Pitre to explain it is simply a treasure. Thank you. Also, does anyone know if Dr. Pitre has his own bible commentary published?
One could say that all Dr Pitre's books are Bible commentaries to some extent. However, this book may be the closest to what you are looking for? "A Catholic Introduction to the Bible: The Old Testament."
The Pope needs to also consider what was really going on in the Jordan. Jesus really had no need for baptism but did have a need to be considered as a teacher with authority to begin his mission. There is a title in Judaism called a "Teacher with authority." You need to have this title conferred by another teacher with authority and be 30 years old. This is where we Catholics get our ordination process. John was a teacher with authority as he had disciples/followers. Jesus was 30 years old. Problem solved. Jesus tells John to proceed to "fulfill all righteousness." To fulfill all righteousness means to fulfill all moral and legal obligations. John fulfills those obligations and presents Jesus as a "teacher with authority" along with the Father and the Holy Spirit Jesus needs this title so that people will listen to his teachings. How do we know this? What do the people say in Mark's gospel? "The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes." What does that mean? It means that Jesus can offer his interpretations of scripture rather than just repeating another teacher with authority's teaching like the scribes. So he taught as what? One having authority. Does Jesus verify that he received his teaching authority from John. Yes he does. Before his death when he is questioned by the Pharisees as to where he received his authority, Jesus asks them where did John get his authority?
Such a load of utter rubbish. John recognised Jesus as the Lamb of God which taketh way the sin of the world. His mother knew that Jesus was her Lord as she acknowledged to Mary. The people acknowledged the authority of Jesus by what He said and how He said it, nothing to do with having been 'given' authority from John. I have never heard such nonsense before. What about when the heavens open and the Holy Spirit came down in the form of a dove and the voice from Heaven said 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I have found my total delight and pleasure'. All the 'authority' Christ might have needed was there. Also on the mount the voice said 'Hear ye Him'.
Too many christians are willing to participate in the blessings that flow from His Resurrection but very few are willing to participate in the suffering that flows from the Crucifixion hence complaints, moaning and anger at why suffering/problems/issues occur in their lives. The Martyrs understood the redemptive power of suffering. They accepted it meekly and some cases joyfully. Catholic saying "offer it up" sums it up...in others words accept the suffering that life brings, it's a part of life, you can either moan, groan or complain or you can accept it, face it and move on. Suffering almost always teaches us something about ourselves, the world and our faith.
Dr. Brant Pitre. Maybe it`s nothing but in Pope Benedict`s book: Jesus of Nazareth, what you read is in page 38 and not page 18 ( at least in my version which is in Italian ) I think it`s the same in English. God bless you
The Lord Jesus asked John to Baptize Him to 'fulfill all righteousness'. He was associating Himself with those who believed and were baptized and were looking for their Messiah. Christ always associates Himself with Faith in Himself. He was not associating Himself as a sinner and most certainly did not need to repent.
“The Baptism of Jesus (Rebirth in the Holy Spirit) The baptism administered by St. John the Baptist was a call for repentance and purification, the sign of the desire of the soul to be cleansed and to prepare the way and the space within herself for the gift of Redemption, the life of grace, the means of Salvation, which the longed-for Messiah, the Son of God made Man, would bring upon earth. The Sacramental Baptism instituted by Jesus frees the soul of the stain of original sin and activates the gift of grace within her, making her a child of God. However, the life of grace received through Baptism can be rendered sterile by lack of correspondence, or even suppressed by sin, since all Sacraments produce their effects within the soul according to her dispositions. But when the Divine Will reigns in the soul as her very life, baptizing every fiber of her being, she comes to possess the very source of grace, she lives of Divine Life; and that very Divine Will which has the power to purify, to baptize, to generate Divine Life is her Will too.” ❤️🔥
Jesus was Baptized in a bath for sinners to be counted amongst them even though He was without sin the unblemished Pascal Lamb. This actually served another function that gets overlooked that when He died upon the cross He would descend into Hell the Limbo of the Fathers because of the original sin of Adam the righteous dead were still sinners. If Jesus wasn't counted as one of the sinners He instead would had entered into His Kingdom instead of Paradise the Limbo of the Fathers. St. Dismas said to Jesus upon the cross to remember him in His Kingdom but Jesus said to St. Dismas today I will be with you in Paradise. And we know after Jesus's resurrection He had not yet been to His Kingdom because of what He said to St. Mary Magdalene I have not yet gone to the Father and where is the Father? His Kingdom in Heaven.
No, you are wrong. Christ was associating Himself with the believing remnant who looked for their Messiah in Faith. He was most definitely NOT associating Himself with sinners.

Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God" (John 3:5). The Bible tells us that Jesus came by water and blood in order to save us from all our sins (1 John 5:6). The meaning of blood is His death on the Cross. Then, what do you mean by 'water'? Why did John the Baptist baptize Jesus? Why did He proclaim, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15) just before His baptism? I sincerely hope you understand and believe in the gospel of the water and the Spirit, especially in the baptism of Jesus. Here are some brief explanations on the gospel of the water and the Spirit that He gave to His disciples. The Apostles put the greatest emphasis on the baptism of Jesus when they preached the gospel. The Apostle Paul said, "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). What does it mean, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures"? It means that His death atoned for all our sins according to the God-given method in the Old Testament. He died for us according to the revelation and covenant in the Old Testament. Hebrews 10:1 states, "For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come." Let us look at the typical sacrifice in Leviticus 1:3-5. A sinner should satisfy three conditions of the burnt offering for the atonement of his sins. 1) He brought an offering without blemish (Leviticus 1:3). 2) He had to put his hands on the head of the offering (Leviticus 1:4). Here, we should make clear of the law of God: Laying hands on the head of the offering was God's law to pass his sins onto it. 3) He had to kill it to atone for his sin (Leviticus 1:5). On the Day of Atonement, Aaron laid both his hands on the head of a live goat, confessed over it all the iniquities and transgressions of the children of Israel, concerning all their sins, and put them on the head of the goat (Leviticus 16:21). At that time, Aaron was the representative of Israel. He alone put his hands on the head of the goat, but all the yearly sins of the people of Israel (about 2-3 millions) were passed onto it. The sacrifice of the Old Testament is a shadow of the good things to come. Jesus offered Himself by the will of God in order to sanctify us according to the Scriptures. First of all, Jesus came in the flesh of a man to be the Lamb of God without blemish. He is the only begotten Son of God and "the express image of His person" (Hebrews 1:3). Thus, He is fitting as the sin offering for all of mankind. Second, John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan. Baptism is given in the form of "laying on of hands," and John the Baptist is a descendant of Aaron and the representative of all mankind. When John put his hands on the head of Jesus Christ, all the sins of the world were passed onto Him according to the law God had established. Jesus said to John, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness," and he baptized Him. All our sins had finally passed on Him. The very next day, John exclaimed, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). Third, Jesus died on the Cross for the remission of all our sins, saying, "It is finished!" (John 19:30) He rose again from the dead in order to make us righteous in front of God. Remember that a sin offering was offered for the forgiveness of sins. A sinner had to put his hands on its head before he killed it. If he forgot one single step, in other words, if he omitted putting his hands on the head of the offering, he could not be redeemed due to his having practiced lawlessness. If a Christian doesn't have any idea what His baptism means, such a person must have had sins in his/her heart and cannot be saved simply by his/her own faith. Most Christians know only half of His righteous act. The Apostle John makes clear the gospel in his first Epistle: "This is who came by water and blood-Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth" (1 John 5:6). There are a lot of passages in the Bible that support how essential His baptism is to complete His righteous act for our salvation. All Christians should return to the gospel of water and the Spirit.
Jesus was baptized because:- 1. He was showing us what we should do. 2. This was God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit all together. 3. He was showing us what was going to happen to him. He was showing himself dying - when he went under the water, buried - when he was under the water and rising again - when he came back up.
Jesus was baptized because he wanted to symbolize his dedication to do God’s will. (Hebrews 10:4-7) He proved that he had made his dedication by turning his back on life as a carpenter and beginning the ministry.
Just ready said to John the Baptist: to fulfill all righteousness. Have you ever seen such humility. No. Not until then. But then you will see it repeatedly especially in his passion and death.
The baptism of Jesus fulfills all righteousness because it is God's will that the Son should immerse himself fully in the condition of sinful humanity, which is to die because of sin and be raised to new life (cf. Rom. 6:4). To be righteous is to do the will of God, which our sanctification and which means living a moral life (cf. I Thess. 4:3). This is what we are supposed to do in following Jesus in his baptism.
I always felt that being baptized as a baby doesn’t really count cause you didn’t choose it yourself it was forced upon you so I always feel like I need to get baptized again once I’ve decided that I want too in order for it to work.
@Laudetur Jesus Christus ya but if it wasn’t my choice to get baptized and was the choice of my parents then are you sure it works and a baby doesn’t get his full body emerged in water so it’s not a true baptism like John the Baptist used to do
Hello. Baptism is the new circumcision, which was done on babies. While we do not choose it, our parents', who are in charge of and in authority over us, faith counts for much. We are not just individuals roughing it on our own...indeed, remember to pray for others! And do recall that God loves us first!
Baptism in the River Jordan is Jesus "ordination" just like KIng Saul and King David was consecrated and anointed by Prophet Samuel to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Also we can see it from St.Paul in Acts 13-1-ff. The Prophets is needed for "ordination & consecration" and to invoke the Holy Spirit to come down. And God does nothing without a Prophet. (Amos1:3). Matthew wasn't a witness of Jesus baptism... John was... read john... and you see that john the baptist said to john the evangelist... That he saw the holy spirit come down as a dove on jesus as he came out of the water and that God told him it would be the sign to show him who was the messiah... John the evangislist was the only eye witness of the baptism of Jesus... Not Matthew... And so matthew claiming that john said to Jesus that he should be baptised by him not him baptizing jesus is false since he didn't knew before baptising jesus that it was the messiah... And john and andrew had to be told by john the baptist to follow jesus now... they didn't saw nor heard what john the baptism saw and heard... so all the 3 others account of the baptism are innacurate hearsays... Unless you wanna discard John's gospel from the canon... It is to be noted that john gospel was published to fight the gnostic heresy ... And that the the 6th days after his baptism he was at the Cana wedding... So couldn't be spending 40 days in the desert alone... Some are repeating haggadah one is testifying of what he saw and heard... It's pretty easy to figure out who is...
It is to be noted that in some fragment of apocryphal gospel... I think thd Nazarene one john is telling that after baptising jesus... Also the naration of the temtation is placed at the time when jesus choose the 12 apostle and narated by jesus... so would put a diferent perspective on it...
My interpretation is that Jesus lived that event at the instant of his baptism... And it felt like 40 days... And that jesus himself wasn't aware before his baptism that he was God... as he wanted to live as a normal human up to then... That moment was set by God... himself as a way to awaken himself from the dream of living as a normal human.. The temptation it the human nature of jesus being tempted by that revelation... Jesus wasn't faking nor acting as a human prior his baptize... he was truly and and fully a normal human... ignoring that he was God... Human can block memories ...why God wouldn't be able to make himself as the son incarnated forget that he was God then?
Seems asinine that any of this would matter to you at all, with you spreading the word to everyone that Matthew's gospel isn't reliable. If you aren't a christian and denounce the Bible and Christianity.....why would you give any effort to an idea of which story is more reliable? It shouldnt matter to you. I guess you have to do something, with your time.
Baptizing babies is wrong, We can't baptize babies who doesn't have the capacity to make a choice of following christ, God the father didn't force Jesus into doing his will, So why in the world would the church baptize babies and their parents make the choice for them, It's a really wrong thing to do, The parents are not the people who make the choices, If God himself didn't make our choices so why would parents make the choices for their kids, It's not what Jesus told us, Paul never said so, no where in the new testament it says so, If someone needs to be baptize he needs to know that there is no coming back, So you need to have the capacity of knowing what you are facing before going after Jesus because it's not an easy task and for parents to make the choice for their children is just wrong, So anyone who wants to be baptize needs to know that there is no turning back, and parents can't make the choice for their children the same way God the father can't force us to do anything against our will.
The Bible clearly says that baptism is the new circumcision, and further states that the disciples baptized whole households. In the early Church, the question they had to deal with was whether it was legitimate to baptize on the 8th day of the child's birth or if it were better to do so immediately--both of which involve infant baptism. The parents have a SACRED DUTY to pass on the faith to their children, to teach and confirm them in Christ. They aren't supposed to just baptize them; it carries sacred responsibility. "As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." I understand the hesitation if you live somewhere with a lot of persecution...perhaps the child will not want the danger, perhaps one thinks. But it is best for the child if he were a follower of Christ, a child of the Kingdom, regardless of whatever happens in this world. Set his heart firmly toward Heaven and our Lord. Why deprive him from such grace, freedom, and supernatural life? In the West we have this tradition of waiting to confirm the child (if he or she wishes) until he or she has reached teenage years, though we baptize them hopefully as soon as possible.
@@1001011011010 that means that you can take the free will of your child? Who are we to take the free will from our children? If God himself didn't take our free will to choose to obey him or to reject him, How can we take the decision for our children, We can teach them about christ, We can show them the love of christ, We can quote passages from the bible, But we can't take a decision on their behalf, I never saw any apostle in the entire Bible baptize someone without them fully knowing that they were following Jesus till death, The one who needs to be baptized is the one who chooses willfully to obey God and to stay with him no matter what, I know that it's the church tradition but that doesn't mean it's true, We never hear about that tradition in the letters of Paul or any other book of the new testament, And you mentioned something about the 8th day, They were curcumsizing their children not baptizing them, Those were jews who needed to keep every commandment of God j the old testament word for word, But if you go to the book of acts, Peter himself said that circumcision isn't necessary for salvation, So in other words if the person himself didn't fully comprehend the persecution and the hatred he's gonna get from truly following our lord Jesus Christ, Then we can't take his own choice and choose to make him a follower of christ, Because when he grows up he might leave the church and never come back to his own family, And no one can stop him, But if we let our children grow and teach them about our lord Jesus (without choosing on their behalf), God can make a seed grow in them and they themselves will go to church and want to be baptized, And we see that all the time in the book of acts, Peter and Paul and all the desciples preach first and then God chooses some to be baptized and some didn't want to be baptized, So in other words God chooses whom they will follow him, We don't have the authority to take their free will, nor make their decision for them, And even though they are baptized if they don't know christ or they don't let christ work through them it's worthless, If any denomination of Christianity doesn't show Christ's love then it's worthless, If it's all about making converts and taking decisions for others then it's worthless, If we don't have the love of christ then we can't show our light to the world, If we let our light shine before others, If we can stop being hypocrites infront of our children then our children themselves will choose to follow christ because they see the goodness of christ in us but if we only show our sinfulness and our hypocrisy then our children will only want to move away from us and they will think the same way of christ (because of us), So no we can't take their free will, And we never saw this anywhere in the bible, Not even one verse.
@@الربيسوعهوالحق It is not taking their free will. Baptism is the new circumcision according to the Bible, and some Christians apparently took this very literally and waited the 8 days. The Church corrected this as it should be immediately. Like how the Jews would circumcise their children, so we baptize ours. It is also a sign of identity. The New Testament mentions the baptism of whole households, which very likely included young children. It does not take away their free will as they are still free to reject our Lord. But, if we are not hypocrites and teach them rightly, and recall that God desires the repentance of the sinner, and that our prayers are powerful for others, this hopefully will not happen. But the baptism is not worthless! It makes one part of the kingdom, the grace is bestowed upon them by God, they are cleansed from original sin, and if they die before they reach the age of reason, while we may not know what precisely will be the case for a specific child and may have hope for them, the baptized child will have more certainty of his salvation. Baptism also includes exorcisms, to combat any demonic activity fighting for your child. Baptism means they now will immediately have a share in the supernatural life of Christ! I have always have Faith since I can recall. Indeed, even when I was young I was trying to argue and contend for the Faith! If I were not baptized while young, I do not even want to imagine how different, how much more susceptible to arguments I may have been. Indeed, the baptism of infants seem to be something from Apostolic times, not just a tradition but sacred Tradition, and with such great reason and benefits and history why would one deprive one's child from such necessary help? A Christian, as we, are to build up the Kingdom of God, restoring creation to its original perfection through Christ: this includes the old and the young. He has left us a way to bring one to the fold of His Church, a way for us to be free of original sin, a way for salvation, a way for beginning the supernatural life of grace! Look at His Kindness! Let us take advantage of His kindness while we may, remembering the responsibility inherent therein. God bless you
@@1001011011010 I'll tell you this if someone is baptized when they were kids and they don't even know christ that won't change a thing, John the Baptist wasn't baptizing infants, He was baptizing adults, And the most important fact of the new testament, Jesus was baptized when he was 30, He wasn't baptized when he was 2 or 3 years old, So in other words if someone doesn't know God or rather doesn't have the capacity to understand what he needs to do in order for him to follow christ then we can't baptize anyone, But God can move anyone to be baptized, God can instantly make everyone go and be baptized at the church, But what will God get if he did so? He will take everyone's free will, He makes everyone choose to follow him or reject him, And that's how God worked when the apostles were preaching and when Jesus was preaching, John the Baptist is the perfect example on how someone needs to baptize someone.
@@الربيسوعهوالحق John the Baptist wasn't baptizing us as Christians. Jesus instituted the Sacrament of baptism, which is different from the baptism of John. Jesus had not yet founded the Church and was a Jew along with John, following the Jewish commandments. Then baptism was not a saving sacrament but a penitential sign, which is why it is so surprising to see Jesus, who was the perfect man, taking such a thing. He was not baptized as an infant because he was Jewish and hence was circumcized. Jesus fulfilled the old Law, however, and Baptism is the fulfillment of circumcision. God could have had angels bring the Gospel to all over the world, but it would appear He prefers to have us Christians to have some sort of responsibility in sharing the Gospel and working together with Him, helping to build up the world. We can cooperate in what He designs! That is a horrifying yet wonderful thing about it all. Praise Him!
Now I’m happy to be both Catholic and Baptist, for then I would be able to draw something good from both of them. Now some of you might say you can either be only one of the two and not both at the same time. But it happened because I thought my first Baptism, which happened when I was a baby, was not true baptism. I believe that you have to first believe in Christ in order to be baptized; I have come to this conclusion by reading Acts 8:37.
But nowadays I’m more of a Catholic than a Baptist, because when I go to church on Sunday it would be a Catholic Church. This is because my parents don’t allow me to attend the Baptist church that I used to attend.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the Catholic faith is compulsory in the sense that we cannot pick and choose what to believe: “Hence, if anyone shall dare-which God forbid!-to think otherwise than as has been defined by us, let him know and understand that he is condemned by his own judgment; that he has suffered shipwreck in the faith; that he has separated from the unity of the Church.” Thus, the Church teaches “the absolute necessity of administering Baptism to infants,” and in regards to doubting the effects of such Baptism the Church pronounces “anathema against those who should presume to think otherwise.” Although the above citations are genuine, I am not a teacher and I’m sure there is some slack for your unawareness, but with today’s freedom of information I would recommend you study the matter sooner than later. Best wishes!
@@cristianbalas6982 Ah, thanks. Well it’d be best for me if was a Protestant or non-Catholic. I don’t want to be Anathematized by a huge number of people; 2B people! Can you imagine being Anathematized by 2 billion people?!?! It would be better if I’d never been born. And thanks for your reply. Best wishes for you as well.
@@SoRunThatYeMayObtain I know that any dogma sounds funny from democratic perspective, but the Catholic Church is monarchical and its authority springs from St. Peter and his successors, who received the power to "loose and bind" "in heaven and on earth" from Jesus Christ. There is no need for discouragement, as in today's secular context Catholics struggle with this monarchical view too; and there is no such thing as 2B Catholics anathemising anyone.
The most substantiated explanation, drawing the necessary biblical connections.
So is our baptism....carrying our crosses day by day and following him. Oh my God 😭
We finna die😩
Dr. Your dedication to preach the word of God is impressing and challenging to the lost world .Thank you so much.
This information needs to be translated into all languages, so everyone can know

This was very helpful and I appreciate the more deeply meditated response to the question. The other answers I've heard are lacking context.
it is like holy communion where Jesus command us to break the bread to remember him!
Awesome, never would have thought of that
John did baptise with water for repentance and the remission of sin ..thus Jesus received all our sin through John's baptism of him ... it was God's will for him to be baptised to fill in full all righteousness ... only now can he go to the cross as he has received our sin, now he can give us his righteousness (salvation) ... furthermore ...Jesus will baptise with the holy spirit and fire conveying both purifying the Godly and destroying the wicked
AMEN. Thank you.

Spirit)
Water baptism was a part of the Old Covenant system of ritual washing.
(Born-again)
Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
(A person must “hear” the Gospel, and “believe” the Gospel, and will then be “sealed” with the Holy Spirit.)
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
(See Jer. 31:34 for the New Covenant promise, and 1 John 2:27 for the fulfillment)

Which baptism is a part of the salvation process, based on what the Bible says?
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (See 1 Cor. 12:13)

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Water or Holy Spirit?, See Eph. 1-13.)
Luk_3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Joh_1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
Joh_1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
(See Eph. 4:1-5)

New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by
husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
(John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18.

@@smeatonlighthouse4384 So tell me, if it's rubbish, why didn't Jesus start his ministry at 25?
True man of God
I've wondered this myself...
God bless you
If we are baptised in the name of Jesus then who was jesus baptised in the name of?
The Lord Jesus asked John to Baptize Him to 'fulfill all righteousness'. He was associating Himself with those who believed and were baptized and were looking for their Messiah. Christ always associates Himself with Faith in Himself. He was not associating Himself as a sinner and most certainly did not need to repent.
Jesus was baptized much like using the mikvah for purification? Another phenomenal teacher Dr Brant. Thank you!
But jesus was sinless he was already purified .
And TBH christianity does not make to me sence any more.
The cross and resurrection is like the hardening of a sword. In the book of Apocalypse the image of the sword is associated with the word of god.
“The Baptism of Jesus (Rebirth in the Holy Spirit)
The baptism administered by St.

Jesus was baptized because:-
I love being Catholic
The baptism of Jesus fulfills all righteousness because it is God's will that the Son should immerse himself fully in the condition of sinful humanity, which is to die because of sin and be raised to new life (cf. Rom. 6:4). To be righteous is to do the will of God, which our sanctification and which means living a moral life (cf. I Thess. 4:3). This is what we are supposed to do in following Jesus in his baptism.
Simply put - baptism is induction into being instruments of reparation by suffering.
I always felt that being baptized as a baby doesn’t really count cause you didn’t choose it yourself it was forced upon you so I always feel like I need to get baptized again once I’ve decided that I want too in order for it to work.
@Laudetur Jesus Christus ya but if it wasn’t my choice to get baptized and was the choice of my parents then are you sure it works and a baby doesn’t get his full body emerged in water so it’s not a true baptism like John the Baptist used to do
Ask God To show you why baptizing infants is important, I used fo question it too, now I’m satisfied with what he’s shown me
Hello. Baptism is the new circumcision, which was done on babies. While we do not choose it, our parents', who are in charge of and in authority over us, faith counts for much. We are not just individuals roughing it on our own...indeed, remember to pray for others!
And do recall that God loves us first!
Guilt is not sin

Baptizing babies is wrong,
We can't baptize babies who doesn't have the capacity to make a choice of following christ,
God the father didn't force Jesus into doing his will,
So why in the world would the church baptize babies and their parents make the choice for them,
It's a really wrong thing to do,
The parents are not the people who make the choices,
If God himself didn't make our choices so why would parents make the choices for their kids,
It's not what Jesus told us, Paul never said so, no where in the new testament it says so,
If someone needs to be baptize he needs to know that there is no coming back,
So you need to have the capacity of knowing what you are facing before going after Jesus because it's not an easy task and for parents to make the choice for their children is just wrong,
So anyone who wants to be baptize needs to know that there is no turning back, and parents can't make the choice for their children the same way God the father can't force us to do anything against our will.
"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
I understand the hesitation if you live somewhere with a lot of persecution...perhaps the child will not want the danger, perhaps one thinks.
If God himself didn't take our free will to choose to obey him or to reject him,
How can we take the decision for our children,
We can teach them about christ,
We can show them the love of christ,
We can quote passages from the bible,
But we can't take a decision on their behalf,
I never saw any apostle in the entire Bible baptize someone without them fully knowing that they were following Jesus till death,
The one who needs to be baptized is the one who chooses willfully to obey God and to stay with him no matter what,
I know that it's the church tradition but that doesn't mean it's true,
We never hear about that tradition in the letters of Paul or any other book of the new testament,
And you mentioned something about the 8th day,
They were curcumsizing their children not baptizing them,
Those were jews who needed to keep every commandment of God j the old testament word for word,
But if you go to the book of acts,
Peter himself said that circumcision isn't necessary for salvation,
So in other words if the person himself didn't fully comprehend the persecution and the hatred he's gonna get from truly following our lord Jesus Christ,
Then we can't take his own choice and choose to make him a follower of christ,
Because when he grows up he might leave the church and never come back to his own family,
And no one can stop him,
But if we let our children grow and teach them about our lord Jesus (without choosing on their behalf),
God can make a seed grow in them and they themselves will go to church and want to be baptized,
And we see that all the time in the book of acts,
Peter and Paul and all the desciples preach first and then God chooses some to be baptized and some didn't want to be baptized,
So in other words God chooses whom they will follow him,
We don't have the authority to take their free will, nor make their decision for them,
And even though they are baptized if they don't know christ or they don't let christ work through them it's worthless,
If any denomination of Christianity doesn't show Christ's love then it's worthless,
If it's all about making converts and taking decisions for others then it's worthless,
If we don't have the love of christ then we can't show our light to the world,
If we let our light shine before others,
If we can stop being hypocrites infront of our children then our children themselves will choose to follow christ because they see the goodness of christ in us but if we only show our sinfulness and our hypocrisy then our children will only want to move away from us and they will think the same way of christ (because of us),
So no we can't take their free will,
And we never saw this anywhere in the bible,
Not even one verse.

It is not taking their free will.
God bless you
@@1001011011010 I'll tell you this if someone is baptized when they were kids and they don't even know christ that won't change a thing,
John the Baptist wasn't baptizing infants,
He was baptizing adults,
And the most important fact of the new testament,
Jesus was baptized when he was 30,
He wasn't baptized when he was 2 or 3 years old,
So in other words if someone doesn't know God or rather doesn't have the capacity to understand what he needs to do in order for him to follow christ then we can't baptize anyone,
But God can move anyone to be baptized,
God can instantly make everyone go and be baptized at the church,
But what will God get if he did so?
He will take everyone's free will,
He makes everyone choose to follow him or reject him,
And that's how God worked when the apostles were preaching and when Jesus was preaching,
John the Baptist is the perfect example on how someone needs to baptize someone.

John the Baptist wasn't baptizing us as Christians.
