I can't thank you folks enough for making this video. Harley wanted to charge me hundreds to do this when I said I wanted to put taller bars on. Your explanation of the parts and process was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!
Been using this style of brake lines for a while now. They are amazing! Only tip I think you guys missed is to have the suspension unloaded when measuring lines!
This vid just showed up on me channel. Strangely enough I just did this to my obscure BMW. The factory hose is no longer available and I found these at Lowbrow Customs. I ordered the components I needed, two days later they're in my mailbox. 15 minutes in the shed and I have brakes again! Todd knows!
Your ability of explaining the whole process in a way that I can actually understand exactly what the hell you're talking about is amazing! Keep up the awesome videos and thank you for the knowledge.
To bleed the brakes on my bike ,i pump the brake lever then put on an elastic band on the lever to hold it closed ,one man job 😁 Take care on the road, peace out ✌
Great video I’ve been using these lines for years they are excellent. I find using 5/16 fuel line works best to figure out length it bends very similarly to the braided lines.
As a former PhD technician I'd recommend cleaning the m/c out prior to installing the freshy lines. 2003..?? Probably time for a m/c rebuild. Don't forget to clean and lube your caliper slide pins. Those fixed calipers were not great.
Thanks for this demonstration. I have a 2012 Suzy V Strom which is equipped with the worst crap of an ABS module. I stomp the rear brake and it locks up and won't release. So I'm gonna go old school brakes. I'm 64 and been riding since I was 15. Never cared for ABS on a motorcycle.
For some reason Russel doesn't sell any brake lines with male fittings, while most of the lines I wish to replace have a male on at least one end. So, you end up buying a bunch of adapters and end up with a clusterfck. You can find lines with a banjo on one end, but for some reason the banjo is thinner that the one on the stock line, so you end up using two copper washers on each side. I've also run into a similar problem with their 3/8" banjo brake switch. The threaded section is too long for a motorcycle master cylinder.
very good video todd. i have a 1971 FLH with a stock rear juice brake (all parts now are stock but not original). will the goodridge parts fit the stock master cylinder and wheel cylinder?
You have to check your banjo bolt and banjo fitting sizes and if they are same as what we carry then yes they will work. We have a wide variety of sizes but Not sure off hand what size a 71 rear juice brake has, Best way to find out is measure yours.
You would have to delete the anti lock module completely to by pass it. You could also just do completely new brake lines and use stuff like this Goodridge line. This video from this dude ,th-cam.com/video/9ru8O62A_A0/w-d-xo.html explains it well not sure if what year you bike is what they all look like etc. But it can be by passed. Biggest thing is you need to make sure you bleed them and test they work before ever going for a ride.
Hi Todd great video. I have a 2015 triumph rocket roadster abs and I melted the rear brake line I have tried to order the correct part and triumph Uk can't even get it. I'll would love to order this system from you I'm overseas at the moment on job and can't measure the fittings I would need to order Im sure you have better things to do 😂 then to put together what I need but if not I sure would appreciate it. I could order and maybe install as soon as I get home get a little riding in before winter. Thanks for the videos.
I was on your site looking at your Goodridge brake lines. Good stuff. Hey, why was looking is because I am trying to make a longer Kawasaki OEM part (43095-0849) that goes to my hydraulic clutch, because I installed bar risers. BUT I can't find anywhere to find that two-way fitting that it has. Are you able to get that fitting? Cuz I know I ain't the only one that can use this! Thanks! 👊💯
have you tried reaching out to our Tech support they are available 8:30-4:00 EST monday-friday if they can't find it they might be able to point you in the right direction. 1800-935-5050
I have a question my girl does that process every time she is stopping but 4 days ago she was riding and went to stop and she said the break wouldn't let her pump or pull the break would you have a answer on how something like this can happen
You should be abled to remove a few screws in the back if the speedo mount, remove and unplug speedo from wiring harness with one plug, remove backing of speedo and take ring off, then replace gasket, and rubber and put back together. pretty straight forward job.
Just make sure your sizes are correct for your banjobolts make sure to use the crush washers, bleed and test brakes, check for any leaks... go for for a ride
@@lowbrowcustoms thanks for the thorough reply! I got my new line assembled, bled and tested. Line was leaking where the banjo fitting screwed in, but it's tightened up and working now. You've really got to thread those in tight! All in all super straightforward!
About 8 months late to the party here, but great video as always Todd. BUT! It's not as good as your recent sportster Saturday front fork fiasco! Made me spit out my coffee. Lmas. Anyway I fashioned a cool bleeder system with my hvac vacuum pump. Kinda like you described, using 2 hoses running to a "catch can" if you will, one hose submerged in the fluid the other up high above fluid level. Worked. Like Russell speed bleeders to. Btw have you ever used Russell pro system ll nylon lines and fittings? The ones with the ferrel type compression (olives) fittings??. Just wondering as I am considering them. Sorry for the long winded rant. Thanks again for what you guys do
Hmmm 13:00 be sure to add half the stroke travel of the front suspension when selecting the line. If this bike only has .250 extra, I'd not want to see it hit a bad pothole (or wheelie).
@@lowbrowcustoms so is this not recommended for the rear? I’m in die hard need of a brake line and of course my 2002 softail is “old” and they would need to order a aftermarket so I’m looking at theses as a alternative
You can get a double banjo bolt for the master cylinder and run two lines from it. Or you can put the double bolt on one of the calipers and run a link line to the other one. Hydraulics balance out so both calipers get the same pressure however you plumb it up
Any ideas on the abs models...I hear you need harley to bleed the abs bikes with a magic tool/device? Is there away to raise your bar, change brake lines without having to get them to bleed it? 2017 dyna lower s is the bike in question. Cheers
You can bleed them but your systems is going to error, it's best to go to a shop that has the computer and can do it right. Annoying but better to be safe with the one thing that stops you... A lot of guys we know have deleted the ABS from the system completely and just run standard brake lines on those Dynas

Also no reason to evacuate the fluid in the master through a brand new empty line

Gonna need to rewatch this a couple times. Would be nice if there will be a rear brake line video follow up

Should a little loctite be applied to the male fitting's threads to prevent loosening? Thanks.
years late but is there a link for the brake bleeder tool? I looked everywhere and I got nothing.
They make fittings for lockheed calipers? Or what do u run on an old triumph with disc front brake
What are benefits of such "custom" brake lines vs. those without the fittings, made of with just one piece?
just easier to route and mount up.
What about old Harley’s with flair fittings?
Just picked some of these parts up. So you literally just screw the banjo fittings into the universal line and that is it?
