It's funny how the friends/ neighbors hated her for everything that he adored her for. The sass, style, gossip, grandiose lifestyle, and just as grandiose emotions.
Do you know how important that kiss was? In the 1980's no one even knows how AIDS are transmitted. That's why no one even want to touch Karl or eat with him (the country club scene). Everyone was so afraid that even being near him will cause them to catch AIDS. So Simone kissing Karl truly is love❤

@katkay9923 Cheating on your wife and hiding your homosexuality isn't pure either. The messiness and complexity of the whole situation as it unfolds is exactly what makes it so interesting. It would be boring if she simply takes advantage of an 18 year old, but she isn't and considering all circumstances (mainly that the 18 year old is persuing her and him being the one taking advantage of an extremely vulnerable moment) the series shows how reality is not black and white.
This reminds me of the relationship between Freddie Mercury and Mary Austin. She held Freddie's hand as he lay dying. He said he loved no one like he did Mary.
True. Many just finding out today, but those of us who grew up loving Freddie, just knew.❤😢 This was one of the main motivators for Elton John to turn his life around. He always says that they ran the same circles and their lifestyles were quite dangerous. This was his wake up call. The first few years he was mostly grieved with survivors guilt. But, then decided to honor his friend and live life to the fullest.😢
Simone and Karl's love story is absolutely the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Their love for each other was the deepest and most real in anything I've seen. And their acting, my goodness, to say it's top tier feels understatement.
He wouldn’t kill another man bc he wanted he to do whatever she wanted to be happy. I loved this couple. The “modern” couple was so boring and this was true love. He didn’t die until she was ready to let him go and planned her last memory of him. Simone loved him so much she accepted when she took the syringe. So well done by the actors and writers ❤
@@Freedomfred25i haven't yet watch the series but based on the little clips i found here, it is about open relationship marriage and it changes when the wife brought her partner into their home (and it is breaking some rules in their arrangements) idk how their story unfold tho
I married a man like this during our journey we fell out of love so many times but we would always choose to be with each other at times i saw him as a beat friend but after choosing us time and time again we fell in love all over again.
Oh their dance was the best way for them to say goodbye. I love them so much. Also, I kind of cried when he said I choose life but life is off the table
I absolutely adored this storyline. Yes, people kill out of anger, jealously, resentment etc. But we never hear about people killing out of love. These two may not have had sexuality in common, but they were still soulmates, and their love for each other was unmatched. It's genuine, true love.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such pure love in Hollywood before but her and Carl they love and loved each other no matter what side of eternity they are in. Carl and Simone are why I rave to people about this series
When you love somebody you are whit all your heart and all you body with him, not like this... This is rutine and monotone... There are like brothers , not lovers
I had this kind of love for over 25 years. We started as a couple and ended the romantic relationship in 1998. After a while, we reconnected as deep and dear friends for the rest of his life until he passed last October. He truly was the love of my life, because he knew me so well as I knew him so well. We couldn’t do the romantic part when we actually lived in the same city, but there’s no denying that he was my soulmate. I’m just grateful that we never left anything unsaid when we spoke, so although I miss him terribly, he knew how I felt and everything I needed to say to him when he passed away.
This couple was the one I connected with the most. It was so amazing seeing them both change as the story went on. They both realized how much they truly loved each other in the end.
I admire them in a way... When worse came to worse they both just wanted each other to be happy and in the end they were even if it couldn't last forever...
When actors can make it feel so real that it's heartbreakingly sad knowing the end will come sooner rather than later and the only choice that is within their control to make is how - because everyone knows that this is a situation that can tragically happen in real life.
I found this particular storyline incredibly moving. They had tremendous chemistry and I believed their affection and love, even when snarking at eachother. To me, it was also possibly the kindest story of the three.
I loved their relationship and how she stayed with him til the end. He was her person, and sometimes that doesn't mean romance, just a closeness and shared genuine love.
That's True love. Many people dont realise you can love another being without being in love with them. It really is different. Regardless their situations they still loved eachother even if no longer in love for one another.
There are different kinds. This is one of those that lasts forever. Carnal pleasure is just that. Great script and acting. Definitely not a harlequin movie
The pure sadness and disbelief in her voice when she says, you're not that sick, not to dismiss his illness but to convince herself that everything will be ok and the love of her life won't die...
I love the messy depiction of how, well… messy love can be. You love someone as a beloved, but you’re not physically attracted to them, and it’s all you have. Man, human emotions are stupid, and glorious.
But for almost youngsters nowadays, sex is love and love is sex. Therefore, many single parent families appear, children who grow up with one parent (with or without love and affection) or children who live in families where their father or mother can change at any time, children who not taken care of because they are considered a nuisance in the lifestyle of free sex and dating without commitment, children who lose one of their parental figures because they leave after losing their partner's sexual attraction (feel bored and look for someone else whose sexual attraction is more challenging) etc. How ironic, because actually freedom of choice, action, freedom in all things also means that they must be ready to be responsible for their choices. instead of being free to follow one's desires, one becomes cowardly and tantrums, not mentally prepared, when one's responsibilities arise. In my opinion, Karl's character deserves respect. because he dares to be responsible until the end for all the decisions he makes.
This relationship always reminds me of my best friend all the time. She had a crush on me in high school, I was in the closet at the time and a bit of an ass. We used to fight and argue just like a married couple. Everyone thought we were dating and she was even my prom date, this was after I came out to her our senior year. Still friends today going strong over 10 years. People need to realize two people can love each other and not have to be physically attracted to each other. Two men can, two women can, a man and a woman can.
My mum has a similar relationship to my aunt Patty (not really my aunt, just mum’s best friend). They actually at one stage had sex, she told me but both realised that it just them trying to understand their deep emotional connection and while they didn’t hate the experience, neither of them particularly enjoyed it either. So instead of having a romantic relationship, they remained friends. I told my mum I wouldn’t care either way as long as she’s happy. They both call each other soul mates but they don’t mean in a romantic way.
Lucy's voice breaking kills this, showing hiw deeply devastated she is and Karl's calm voice and gently wavering breaks this even more. It sucks.... But that final goodbye kiss.... *Bawls into ugly mess in the corner*
To live someone enough to let them go is the ultimate gift. It's hard, I had to let two family members go, and sign for them to be let go. Lucy Liu did a wonderful job as this character.
This was 100% my number 1 favorite plotline from the entire show. They were 100% better as friends then a couple, even then they still loved eachother ♡♡♡
This made me cry! We should all love with the care and devotion they had for one another. Through sickness and health ... He died knowing he was truly and forever loved. Can't ask for more. 💕
Ignorance of a sickness always caused the most histeria and stigma. This is a good example of that. He was just lucky to have someone like her to fight by his side. ❤❤❤
This plotline had so much depth in the story not just about infidelity and it was actually moving, they were truly genuinely in love with each other on both sides, even though he couldn't love her the way she needed him to.
This is exactly what a life story means, unlike a love story. Life story may mean in love, fall out of love, and love all over again through the end. This is an amazing story. ❤😊
The writers for this story are brilliant! Unique story line. They say all stories have been done before. The names & environment just change. I'm not so sure about that.
Out of all the men in the show, he was the only one who actually loved his wife. In a way, I saw the message as men can only truely love you for you, if you remove the segg. Their story was so beautifully written. It left me so envious of their relationship but also so very hearbroken for Simone.
These two were a great couple. There was true love between them, even though he was gay. I thought it was a very touching relationship they beautifully depicted.
