The reason this channel doesn't have more subs is because of the car sale videos, we love the reviews but don't want to be bombed with vehicle listings, I would create a separate channel for that. no hate just my thoughts!
This is the best format for sales. Gets a massive variety of cars to sale and reviews them at the same time. High peak autos and Calvin’s car diary do exactly the same thing.
@@MATB1278 no they don't, look at the recent uploads for paragon and you'll see all the vids with a few hundred views rhat are just basic showcases of cars they have for sale. Neither Calvin or HPA upload vids like that to their main channel
@@MATB1278 no of course mate, I just think it may negatively impact how often their main videos are boosted by youtube's algorithm, because they upload a lot of vids that noone really watches. Just might help to grow the channel if they separate the uploads👍🏻
I did exact this. Sold my 440i coupe because I needed four dours. I bought a 2018 540i RWD with only 30k miles and could save 10k€. Good for those people who know that. Btw the 540i is one of the only newer BMW which does not have the sound pumped in through the speaker. (The 440i did). I upgraded the sound with an Remus exhaust and I am more than happy with it.
Nice review! I also think 540i s are underrated in terms of refinement, power and reliability from B58 engine and flawless package. Such a great value for the money.
Picked up a one owner 540i 2018 40k miles for 25k with a years warranty , the best car I have had in 40 years of driving. If nitpicking the engine isn't quite as smooth as tne M52 in my E39 528i and it is refind to the point of you hardly hear it but other than that a great package
Very good review, thank you. This is one superb car, a real gentleman among cars. It is smooth, fast and quiet, just as it is supposed to be. Manual shifting is most of the time absolutely unnecessary. Automatic is much better for enjoying normal, even sporty driving. Manual shifts come handy mostly when attacking curvy back roads in Sport or Sport Plus mode. Strange this car doesn't have foldable rear back rests as they usually do. I guess that's an option then. I noticed some other useful equipment missing on the reviewed car, such as sunroof (a must have - enhances the interior a lot), 360 deg. camera, ventilated front comfort seats with memory for co-driver, heated steering wheel. 4-zone climate control and rear sun shades improve rear passengers comfort. Front comfort seats (this car is fitted with sport seats as I could see) are also available with massage function, as additional dose of hedonism. All the above equipment makes a difference and this car deserves it. People don't know they need (most of) these until they try them. @ 16:20, 19:30, 20:18, 21:20, 23:38, 24:39 - Please note the G30 5 series saloon doesn't have an air suspension, it has classic coil springs with adaptive dampers (when equipped). Only the G31, estate, has air springs on the rear axle. G11/12 7-series have air suspension.
I also had a 540i which got stolen. I test drove mercs, Audi's, Maserati, alfa etc and ended up replacing it with another fully loaded 540i which I still have. I have owned it longer than any other car. For me it's almost perfect. Fast, flexible, luxurious without crazy insurance or maintenance. YMMV but for me I just love it. Get a Faraday bag for your keys to stop the thieves and they are brilliant cars.
I really dont understand what the "Dynamic ride" is. When I look at used cars I sometimes see adaptive next to the drive modes(this one automatically changes stiffnes on how hard or soft you drive). But I am not sure if those things are the same
I bought the 2017 at 5 years old. I paid premium dollars but I did get the fully loaded M sport in black saphire. This car is very fast, the B58 and ZF tranny can't be matched period, that 340 hp is not true, this car has to have at least 380. I get 4.3 to 100km stock. When I want to smoke the tires or drift around a corner no problemo, just pop it into sport. I can fold my seats from the trunk by the way. Seriously there is enough safety stuff to drive you crazy. This car is understated though. Unlike the dude in the video I have zero complaints after about 40,000 km. Zero, Its faster than Audi and MB, its tame when you want it to be but its an animal when you really let loose. Best of all though take it to a garage and for $1500 or less you are pushing 550 - 600 hp without sacrificing reliability. Without a doubt this is the best saloon in the world. Go buy one and see for yourself. try to get the Generation 1 B58 is my only suggestion.
It's a lot of car for the money. As it's a saloon it won't have air suspension, just adaptive dampers, the Touring's got this but only at the rear. It's impressive you think it's close to an S class though even on springs.
I’m still on the fence . I want a G30 but can only afford the 4pot I feel like it’s a waste and I should just get a better spec Passat if I’m going to get a 4pot Then come back for the G30 in a few years when I have 6 cylinder monies🤣
@@ahmedmattan1507 so my father in law has a 520i and loves it. It’s the mild hybrid though so has some oomph. I think it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a luxo barge then it’s great. If you want a fast barge look at maybe an Octavia vrs?
High doubts this 5 series weight is 1700 kg. My 540d LCI touring has 2100kg. Impossible the B57+mild-hyprid (LCI only)+Touring adds 400kg. I am sure the tested 540i has 1,9 tonns
@@wackawacka12345 The mild hybrid system alone is nearly 100kg. Couple that with the fact yours is a touring and has a heavier diesel engine and bam there’s where the extra weight comes from.
Hybrid ads 100 kg, touring ads 110 kg, diesel engine ads more compared to petrol, and finally if you have panoramic sunroof that ads even more so not surprising that it ads 400 kg.
How is this comparable to an m140i - I've been between a golf r and 140 for a long time now and decided to just get a 140 at insurance renewal time, but now im in two minds about spending more and getting this... Insurance is surprisingly less on this than a 140, and I'm not sure how much I care about a lighter/slightly sportier drive over the hundreds of creature comforts which this provides.. Though, similarly to a 140 - finding a top spec one of these in is incredibly hard to come by, and I feel like I wouldnt want anything less
@@oceandrive7283 yep, and the handling isn't great stock - the difference in price would easily be spent on an LSD + suspension alone, let alone bushes/braces etc
It is hard to compare 5 and 1 series. Comparing 5 to 3 or 7 is more appropriate. It all depends what car you want (not "need" as one doesn't need any of these). 140i is a hot hatch and 540i is a luxury saloon, so they are made for different clients and purposes.
Used to get over 50mpg out of my stage 2 m140i, 1 series is about 1,650kg so if thr 5 series is o ly 100kg heavier should see simular figures.. 34mpg is shocking hahah
I was in the same situation like you! I was between Audi S5 and Bmw 540i Xdrive! Because of better brakes and because of more comfortable chars! But Audi has a better engine sound, a better exhaust soud, a better nice looking chairs and a better suspension(the magnetic ride system). As a conclusion you must go and do a drive test with both 👌
I don’t think they offered air suspensions in G30s. He might confused with Dynamic Handling Package which has adaptive damper and stabilizer control. Still it gives air suspension like comfort in comfort mode.

The 5 series has even more, it has active anti roll system, so it can actively counteract roll without having such stiff static anti roll bars.
My 2006 Honda Accord has Adaptive Cruise and Lane Assist :) (still want one of these one day :) )
I’ve got one, bought it used, it’s now stage 2 tuned and goes hard. Just wish I had xdrive though
I do love B&w I have B&w speakers at home
While the 540i is great, I really wish we got a pre LCI G30 M550i like some other markets.
I’ve found one near me (In America) listed for just under $28k with only 60,000 miles. I’m very tempted
Well?
