      Be sure to get a cordless one if you want a really intimidating blade for urban survival. A little heavy for EDC tho' - so I wouldn't bother looking for one with a pocket clip. Like whip it out only for SHTF. The Ent uprising must be nipped in the bud - I see them gathering in green-spaces, just looming all broody and shit. This could get ugly.

      Josh B yea it is a spendy saw but really the 18v will get the job done too. Pretty much all of these companies have good saws and just keep upgrading constantly to out do one another. Doesnt mean their older models are bad, just a bit slower or cut out a time or two. And I agree Austin Manion, I think dewalt really did equal corder power!

    The reason for two 18v batts for the Makita is that you can charge both batts at the same time in 45 mins or less, whereas those bigger "red" an "yellow" batts take almost two hrs to charge. Time is money!

      Time is money. Buy 2 Dewalt 9amps and have one charged while one is working. By the time one dies you'll have another one in the tool. Makita requires you to have 4 whole batteries going

    • @user-os7qp3ny3k
      @user-os7qp3ny3k 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sessionbox4256 a single dewalt 20v doesn't have as much cutting power, or make as many cuts as a makita double battery. You may have half as many batteries, but you'll make twice as many trips to the battery charger, and it is a nuissance to have a battery die when you're up on a roof, or a ladder, or scaffold. When a person uses cordless circular saws every day, those walks to the charger add up quick, and the batteries can even pay for themselves. Plus, the makita cuts deeper, it's the only saw I know that cuts 2 5/8" depth, which is what's required to cut completely through LVL floor joists (not even corded skillsaw does that, nor dewalt).

    There's a reason that many tradesmen refer to circular saws as "skillsaws". I've actually met quite a few that didn't even know they were actually called circular saws. Skilsaw has been around forever, they made them first and they made them right. Skilsaw is to the circular saw what advil is to ibuprofen.

    He had me at Ryobi (9:45) I actively avoided Ryobi for the exact reasons he mentions. It looks cheap, ugly, and amateur, but I had to borrow my brother-in-law's miter saw to install some flooring and was genuinely surprised by how much I liked it...so much that I had to go out and buy my own. It's now one of the most loved tools in my shop.

    • @patrickyoung2151

      I bought a Cobalt sliding compound miter saw and it's amazing. It's going on 9 years and still good. Also the Cobalt air compressors are really good. The problem with cheap tools is not the tool. It's the battery. The battery is the most important part of a cordless tool. Corded tools you can get away with some cheap tools. My cordless Ryobi tools the batteries died in months. I'll never buy them again. Milwaukee batteries last decades.

    My favorite saw will ALWAYS be the Dewalt 378G. That saw looked funky as hell - look it up. But I never used a saw that lent itself to working on the ground, one hand use ripping plywood, or cutting tops off vertical beams in the air so effortlessly. It was the perfect combination of a Skilsaw and a sidewinder. They discontinued it, I patched the cord 5 times, replaced a plug, and cracked the handle and re-stuck it on with gorilla glue. Somehow between my dad and I, it's still alive 20something years later.

    What is the type/name of the wooden post/beam/board at 32:23? I've never seen that exact type of wooden beam before. It appears to be long, thinner pieces of wood (probably the trimmings left from cutting other boards to correct dimensions, I assume?) That are soaked in some sort of glue or resin mixture, and them mechanically/hydraulically compressed into a mould, of whatever the desired dimensions are. Is this somewhat correct, or am I way off with my assumptions here? Any help would be very much appreciated!

    • @shaneharris5395
      @shaneharris5395 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Update: I bought a Milwaukee fuel rear handle circ-saw. I’ve always used a sidewinder and I love the rear handle. The upside of the rear handle really shows on long rip cuts, it’s way easier to keep a straight cut for me.

I noticed on the Home Depot website, that they have 13 Amp, 14 Amp, & 15 Amp versions. Other than their 1 Amp differences and pricing, should I just get the cheapest one (13 Amps)? What's the noticeable difference from 13 to 14 Amps, or 14 to15 Amps? thx

    From an Aussie, down here we have the 3 big brands on site. Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita. They are the 3 main ones down here. Makita is the cheaper of the bunch so a lot of apprentices start with it. Our cheap once use brand is ozito so if you look them up you can see our 'worse' and they aren't that bad, probly same level as ryobi one

      Battery powered and brushless?

  • @JJ-nh8lv
    @JJ-nh8lv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well, I use that 36volt Makita saw...It has a magnesium base, rafter hook, Yes its heavy, but I've also used the Milwaukee Saw too and it's no lighter. With all the same features. The single battery shown was the 12 amp hour battery that is just as heavy as 2 Makita batteries. I've also used the Dewalt saw with the Flexvolt battery. Great saw but not any better than the Makita or Milwaukee. Also you might talk about the prices of these options. That 12.0 High output battery Milwaukee makes is over 250 bucks. 2) pack Makita 6 amp batteries cost 180. So these 3 saws are equal in every way in my opinion. I am not a fan of Metabo at all. My business partner bought some new tools from Metabo, he sold them after a week. Went back to his Ridged. Hilti tools are great tools, but if you can afford them, you don't need to work for a living. I've never used the Skill Saw battery saw. I have an old worm drive Skill Saw that you have to put oil in and change it sometimes. It is a beast!!! I bring it out to rip hardwoods and yellow pine posts and beams. I totally agree with that old saw being the best ever made!
