As a Brazilian I use the centimeters and meters as a unity of measurement. I was so afraid to not understand how the architectural scale would work in inches and feet and failing in college. I couldn’t even understand inches and feet imagine how it would work in different scales. However, after watching this video everything is clear! I’m so glad to have found this video on TH-cam. I just want to say THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!
Thank you for taking the time to record this!! I was having a terrible time in drafting. I was making it way harder than it is. Thanks to TH-cam and an extra thanks to YOU!
i have been trying so hard to learn on using architect scale..i have tried searching every topic on the net, but i can't still grasp the whole idea, but after watching your video totally made me understand the whole thing, what can i say, except thank you very much...you have really helped me..thank you and GOD BLess...
I'm not in a drafting class, but have always liked using the drafting rulers and thought it doesn't hurt to understand all the markings on it, so thks for posting.
Dude! This helped me so much..I was trying to understand it by just reading the text book, but I still couldn't fully get it. This makes it much simpler to understand. Thanks! :-)
Thank you for posting this helpful video. You may want to modify your 3/8" scale as there is an error on it - the even feet read 2,4,5,6. A student might be confused by that.
I'm having trouble understanding the different scaling systems. From what I've looked up, this is the imperial scaling system. Where can I find more information on scaling systems and how to read the other ones (like SI, or "unitless" or whatever). I looked up "Architects scale" on wikipedia and it's really confusing me. I don't get it when colons are used (ratios).
Thanks, I actually feel a little dumb for not understanding it at first....than again....I am taking drafting online so it's a bit harder to learn these things.
Kevin Tower Where the 3/8 scale shows 5, it should be 6. The each line represents one foot starting from 0 going right. Meaning 14=1ft, 2=2ft, 13=3ft, 4=4ft, 12=5ft, so the number after 12 has to be 6ft not 5ft.
Well explain to me why you find it irritating. If anything, like I previously stated, it's helpful because you can focus on a specific part of the scale he's trying to show us throughout the video.
The way you explained it is how every instructor should explain it. Thanks.

This scale: 1"= 40' 0" is from an engineer's ruler, on the architect's ruler scale, what scale would it be? 1/4?

In my scale of 3/8 inch goes from 0-2-4-6- and you'rs scale goes from 3/8 inch 0-2-4-5 just want to know if it makes alot of different
Oops. Ignore that 5. It's a mistake.
Ok thank you very much for your time
Very helpful. Now I can go ace that final :)
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS!
Thank you sir! Nicely explained.
Bravo great video 👍🏻👌🏻🙏🏻
should not the reading be: 4' and for the inches part, should you not use the 3/8", to tell the scale?
Thank you
Thanks for this great tutorial.
This guy knows how to explain very well especially compared to my foreign teacher.
thankx for the help. i was stuck on 1 1/2 scale

Thanks, I actually feel a little dumb for not understanding it at first....than again....I am taking drafting online so it's a bit harder to learn these things.

Thank you!!!
check your video bud ... your scale on the 3/8 portion is incorrect .. heads up to anyone who follows this ..
Drew Gage dude explain? I don't want to be wrong....
Kevin Tower Pause it at 2:06 and then read my comment it'll make it easier to understand.
Good catch, it was explained correctly just the scale was numbered incorrectly - I had to re-watch to see that, nice attention to detail Vic.
Thanks alot!
in the first case: scale is 3/8"=1' , why you are saying 12"=1'?
+maryam nabiyan are you dum ?
+Dhinesh V lmaoo

Hey thank u for the help. XD

Your 3/8 scale is wrong. You have 0, 2, 4, 5, 6. Should be 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.

Stop dithering the yellow spot around. Very irritating.
What do you mean? I find it very helpful.
@@Ferd1921 If you don't know what I mean then I can't be bothered with you. I don't suffer fools gladly.

Plus, who even says "I don't suffer fools gladly"? What the fuck is that?
Thank You!
Thanks a lot
