  • Thank you for all the love!! ♡
I can not believe that I am done with my first 2 weeks of school!! It has been a crazy process, but I am learning every day! I am so happy that I can bring you on this journey!! xoxo
    Frequently Asked Question:
    1. What about social distancing?
The desks that our school provides seats 2 students. They are working on getting individual desks. This is what we have so we have to work around it. That is why I have 30 chairs so I can space out the students. Students also have the option of staying online.
don't forget to comment, like, & subscribe:)

Our second grade teachers are videoing lessons and using google classroom. This is so helpful for us because my child can’t handle the zoom calls (we still do some) but he is retaining more by having the teacher video and teach the lesson at or own pace and when I can sit down with him to do it. It’s a game changer for learning with this distant learning. Not to mention we work out of the house and have another child to school. Remember not only are you teachers doing an amazing job and trying your hardest but so are us at home....navigating through it, lots of grace because some kids (like mine) can only school in the afternoon besides the schedule zoom calls which they are in their own. I don’t think they should get penalized if they can’t log it at a certain time.

It's not just you, online teaching is not like teaching in person. You are doing really well and it will get better.

Teaching online is VERY different, don't get discouraged! Is there anyway that you could change the structure of your day and possibly combine everything into one live session? You'll probably have to cut back, but that way at least attendance improves and there's no worries about if students will rejoin or not.

I'm only half way through, so I maybe you'll say this but I had an idea about math. If you consistently get a low turnout for the second meeting, could you swap when you do ELA and Math a couple days a week? That way they are getting some instruction of both in the morning!

I taught virtually in the spring with special education students who did not previously use Chromebooks in the classroom. We use Microsoft Teams, and trust that the kids will get better with understanding what and where to log in. Unfortunately, towards the end, I did have little participation, and due to behaviors parents were getting burnt out. My best advice is to be animated and keep your lessons interesting. Having icons does help. The shorter the lessons the better. It's good to have 1:1 meetings with those that aren't joining, or accessing the lesson plan because some parents aren't technologically inclined to access them either. Some kids are with their grandparents, baby sitters, older siblings, neighbors etc. It took almost 5 weeks to get ALL my students to independently be on board and access everything with ease. My last advice is to incorporate some type of incentive for participation. Keep at it!

You are doing great! What about Padlet for responses? It's pretty easy to use and it's free. Any questions let me know. I feel like it's my first year too and it's my 16th.

You should record your math lessons (the ones you do in the meet) so that the kids who miss can get caught up. We need to remember that their parents may not be able to get them online at the moment that you're ready to teach math. If you record then they can get caught up in the evening.

Most districts don't allow you to recird your google meets because of confidentiality of other students.

Join your class as a student. Can you do that? Use another computer and add yourself as a student.

I can't add myself to my google classroom as a student. You can only add students who have a distinct email, so it won't be approved.

I work in Retail Buying on the financial planning side and I can’t help but laugh because “interesting” is the word I use to describe clothes that I don’t like and/or don’t think will sell well. 😂🤣🤪

Where are these kids’ parents to make sure they’re logging on every day and following the lessons you have laid out?? An 8 year old can’t be expected to be fully self-directed and stay on track/on task all day on their own

I was wondering what's going on with the school/district not ensuring that students have the equipment they need to actually attend school. If not truancy, this may become an issue with the mandated number of school days/hours. Wow!
