You are so amazing! I feel like I have a big sack which every time you are teaching me something new (and it happens often) I feel it with precious presents! I can’t thank you enough for these tutorials!!! God bless you!
You are such a great resource for distance learning! You have shown all of the aspects for teaching online, transitioning and scheduling. Smooth and seamless. Great content!!
You talk very fast, but LOVE how you give exact steps. So many people rattle off steps but skip some because they are obvious to them. Older teacher and not all of us have had time to play around with tech. New district so learning curriculum on top of teaching virtual and in the classroom. Love my kiddos and trying hard to keep up.
Such a positive and happy attitude. It really helps when trying to learn new material. Online teaching is a totally foreign area for me. You demonstrate with clarity and go slow enough so we can see where your cursor is on the screen. This is important when you have no clue about the location of icons being referenced. Thank you so much for your uplifting tutoring. Lord knows we all need this!!
I have learned so much from you! Something I’d love to see... a live lesson showing how you would teach, interact, and give feedback with a group of students online. I haven’t been able to find this anywhere. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge!
I just want to say THANK YOU!!!! This was the first Pocketful of Primary video I watched and it saved me in the spring. Now I check your channel for whatever I am struggling with, or just let the videos play while I am playing video games and absorb the info...
michelle’s class: happy with mics and cameras on my middle school: camera and mic off, pretending the mic doesn’t work, leaving to go do something else
Dear Michelle, Thank you so much for sharing this video. I have learned so much, and one take away from this specific one is to have fun while preparing my Google Slides. Please continue to stay healthy and safe ❤.
Hello Michelle- I'm going to be VERY honest with you :) This past school year, I was new to Third Grade teaching. When the (2019-2020), on-line teaching began, I was in a very difficult position. I had been a Kindergarten Teacher for many years. Now I had to write my on-line classes (self-contained) for a new grade level. I was definitely overwhelmed! I was So lacking in technology skills. I found your tutorials this summer. I value everything you have posted! I will be returning to teach Kindergarten and our school year will begin with 6 weeks of on-line teaching. As we move into the 2020-2021 school year I will use the knowledge you have shared. You have eased my anxiety! Thank you also for your positive and uplifting spirit .
I would have never thought I could have lasted watching almost 40 minutes, but it was a constant learning challenge and it felt like two minutes. Amazing job, teacher! I'm retired, but we never stop learning!
I just wanted to send a shout out to you and say thank you!!! I have been teaching for 10 years, which I know doesn't seem like a lot, however I had started getting in such a funk and dreading school. I watched your video on Google Slides and decided I would give it a try after Christmas this year. Let me just say "WOW"!! Not only did it help me to stay more productive during each of my classes, but the kiddos absolutely loved them and were more focused even. I would love to see more videos like this one, I learn so much from your tutorials on how to use and create on Google. Thank you again!!!
I just watched 2 of your videos. So informative and great. Wished I discovered you sooner, but it's never too late to work smarter not harder. Wonderful way to start 2021 and the second semester of school. Thank you!
Love your videos! I teach AP physics and I’ve found so many great ideas about how to leverage technology with my students. As a side note: if you screenshot by using command+shift+alt+4 it copies the screen shot to your clipboard, so all you have to do is paste the screen shot on the slide, no uploading and you won’t have collections of screenshots on your desktop that you probably just trash. And command+D duplicates selected items. (It’s like copy and paste, but in one step.)
I was watching the video with headphones on (my summer PD is to watch and learn as much as I can) and the cat meowing scared the daylights out of me. I thought there was a cat in my house it sounded so close! Love the real moments!
Thank you for taking the time to create these amazing videos. You are a great speaker and explain things so efficiently. I bet your students and their families absolutely love you. Very inspiring.
Love the video!! Distance learning is not ideal. Distance learning is not fun! You make it enjoyable and fun in these tough times!! Your google meets with your class sound funny and awesome!! I was laughing so hard because your cats are absolutely funny. Your tips with google classroom are always on point. Go get that Google certification (one thing I wish my Dad got before he retired)!!
Wow! You create the Google Slides so quickly! You make it look so easy! My presentations are all in Powerpoint and I'm getting ready to prep them for the beginning of our school year, which will be remote and which will start on August 7th. I love, love, love the way you organize your slides and you've given me some great ideas to make my presentations clearer and more interactive. Thanks so much! You always have fantastic ideas! :)
Heading into distance learning for the foreseeable future... I just discovered your videos and am truly thankful! You are engaging and articulate. The directions and tips you provide are practical. I look forward to catching up on old posts and looking forward to new lessons. Great job!
If you have a glass picture frame, you can write on the glass and use it as a makeshift whiteboard! It also helps to put just a blank sheet into the frame rather than no photo.
I love all of the amazing activities you put together for your students!! It’s tough at times when you have 32 kids but less than half show up to the google meets. 😭 Shout out to all teachers who are not receiving 100% engagement, you’re doing all you can!💛 Our students and families are going through tough times as well, so just keep doing what you are doing, and check up on your students! Sending everyone positive thoughts and love! You’re doing an amazing job Michelle!!💛💛💛
The Purrfect Pencil wow, 20 is actually higher than many teachers have. Think about it...those 20 kids want to learn from you, so only focus on what you can control. I know it is heartbreaking because you care about all of them. One thing I do is give those kids’ names to our academic coach and have him call students to determine if it a technology issue or WiFi issue.
I agree, 20 is a lot! I said less than half of 32, which would be less than 16. If I’m being more specific, I get about 8 students, and trust that I focus on those kids 120% as well as checking up on my other students. Our district has been offering wifi hot spots and chromebooks for families with any tech issues which is nice!😊
The Purrfect Pencil I know you are because teachers are rock stars. Just don’t get discouraged because I have the same problem with students not showing up. You are doing awesome!
Hi Michelle, I am a student. I love that your teaching fun and engaging content during these time. I understand everything you are doing for your class and how they get the information. I just want to say awesome job with teaching your student remotely it not easy. In a public school setting! I love Monopoly deal too.
Michelle! Thank you for the PD ideas! I completed my first lesson today! And, I added the Bitmoji extension to my computer and it’s so much easier than the lengthy way I use to import them! I appreciate all of your ideas and advice!!!!
Thank you sooooo much for alllllll the awesome google chrome hacks!!!!! I just downloaded chrome onto my Mac computer two weeks ago and have been loving learning my way around it....... I am ,literally blown away by some of the stuff you said!!! I so can’t wait to screen shot something on my computer (I didn’t know you could do that)!! 💃💃 And I can’t wait to record myself reading a story..... 👏👏👏☺️ I too have been getting sooooo much out of online PD classes (I actually took one today).....
jenny austin I have read two lit books with my students, but I read aloud to them on Zoom. It reminds them of when I read after lunch each day and I do it about the same time as when we were in school.
Thanks for the tip about the To Do list in Google Classroom! I've been using classroom for years and didn't know about that! It will be very helpful for my students and for me.
Michelle, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this! I finished all my B.A. coursework before the pandemic hit and just need to pass my Math Praxis to begin teaching. I had been feeling so very depressed to be stopped in my tracks so abruptly by the school closures, and I've been thinking about what am I going to do starting as a new teacher in this mess. I truly was so unmotivated but thanks to you I see that I could do this. I can't tell you how empowered I feel, how much I have learned just from this video! Can't WAIT to get your book ❤ Thank you again so much for not charging people for this info. You are amazing and have a huge heart!!!
#Mom4Real Don’t let this deter you from your goal! 40% of teachers quit in the first 5-years, and miss out on so much reward. This will pass and you will be so important to students who need someone to care!
Your videos always give me ideas that I can use. Thank you for your explanation on how to create a slides without using multiple links. May you and Billy continue to take care and keep being safe. Btw, I love the sweater that you were wearing.
Loving your videos! I watched this video and learned some things that would have made things so much easier (comment bank and going back to check assignments turned in late, etc.) While out of school, I am using your videos to help make life easier for the upcoming year. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this and helping so many teachers.
Hi Michelle! I know you are really busy now and will continue to be with distance learning, but I just got my first teaching job (Middle school sped in MD) and I was hoping you could do some videos this summer, maybe a new advice for first-year teachers video, or your favorite resources/online PD sites for new teachers. Thank you so much for your videos, they have been fantastic for helping me prepare for my new position.
Kristy Sonberg If we continue to do distance learning, also get the parents involved. I have a lot of lessons online if you want to check them out. You can also attach to Google class and families can do interactive activities together.
Hack for a different way to do a whiteboard Use a binder with a clear cover It works that same as the page protector, and at least in my class everyone needs a binder and markers, and rather than buying new whiteboards/communicators for my students because I had a class of 27 and a class of 7 this year, we just used the binder covers
I was using a white board when I first started remote learning with my students but I found that presenting my iPad while using the notes app worked so much better! I also joined the google meet using my laptop so that I could see the comments in the chat box if they had questions and they were on mute.
Yes! I share my screen a lot and use various websites and apps (I made a video about this previously). But, sometimes it is nice to just have a physical whiteboard. For example, if my students are sharing their screen with me... I can use my whiteboard to model problems for them!
there is an app called seesaw class and you can make announcements and have activities (assignments) and have a blog and post videos photos notes links drawing and more!
@@PocketfulofPrimary Thank you for all the great videos and information you share. During this time of online learning, it was great to find a teacher who truly cares about improving learning for her students.
I can't thank you enough Michelle. Even though I have plenty years of teaching experience, these past 9 weeks was a totally new way of 'teaching' and because of your ability to teach teachers, I have learned so much! Keep going with all the great "How To's"- it's greatly appreciated!
There is great add on to Google Slides which allows students to write and draw and a lot more directly on the slides. Also you can record audio on the slides, too. It is amazing. It’s called Pear Deck. Highly recommend it!
Wow I love your tutorials so much, amazing, learned so much, as I m a teacher in Bali and we only started teaching online since covid19. Your video's are soo helpful for us, thanks for taking the time. 😍
Michelle I love, love this video. It is so therapeutic to watch because you make me feel confident in being able to teach this way. You're very thorough in your explanations. Best tutorial. Thank you so much for what you do to help other educators!
Thank you SO much! The “instructional” portion of this video showing how you create your mini lesson Google slides was SUPER helpful. Such an awesome resource for ANY teacher using the G Suite! Not a primary teacher (8th grade Science), but DEFINITELY an avid PoP subscriber!
Thank you very much for sharing with us, teachers, how to do lots of digital tasks easier. I love the way you explain, and I have done lots of things with the information you have showed.
I watch PD as well. It's you, Hahah ! Thanks again for an amazing, informative video. How is it that something so simple like the ToDo tab, I did not notice! Definitely a game-changer, thank you for sharing! I also loved you Google Slide lesson walkthrough. No joke I could watch a day in the life of you every day! Please keep it all coming!
Awesome job Ms. Ferre! I have learned so much from you. I first discovered your videos after my maternity leave and have been watching your videos since November. You're an awesome teacher! I wish my school hired you for professional development! I hope you had a great Memorial day weekend. Have a great week!
Thank you Michelle for the awesome tips! They are always super helpful, especially since I am first year teacher. My last day is June 18th as well. I am a long time viewer and subscriber but I rarely comment. With that being said, I can totally relate to my fourth graders getting overwhelmed with different links and additional resources in Google Classroom. So I've done something similar as you do with the Google Slides but rather in a Google Form. My students LOVE completing Google Forms and I've found that when I assign them homework on a Google Slide, even if I put it as make a copy for each student and pre-set backgrounds and text boxes, they still end up deleting things and submitting incomplete work. So, in the Google Form at the top, I add any instructional TH-cam Videos or mini lessons that I have pre-recorded and some resources. Then I complete the form by attaching a text, math problems or creating questions I'd like for them to complete. That way, it is all in one place for them. So far, this works great! Hope this tip can also help other teachers!
@@mrs.boytlive6158 I won't ☺️ It has been my dream to be a teacher since kindergarten. This is just a slight bump in the road. I look forward to making these next few weeks with my students the most positive and memorable as possible.
Nearpods are great for presenting information for students, either as something they complete independently, or in a presentation, with all the students logged in.
Thank you Michelle for your help during this time! I have learned a lot with your tips and have been able to help my teammates! I loved your chapter in the Sidehustle Handbook. It was very enlightening and encouraging. I also loved the book overall. There is a plethora of great advice that I am implementing now. I recommend everyone read this book. I read it from cover to cover in a few hours, and plan to do a second read and highlight. I also left an Amazon review! 5 stars!!!
I enjoy your Google Classroom videos; especially now. Would love to see a future video on how to clean up your G Classroom, archive, etc. to get it ready for next year.
Michelle you always show me something I did not know. I love your videos. Lol wasn't your clipboard a whiteboard? And already hoping you will have videos telling how you will prepare for the next year.
Love the video! You are a huge portion of my P.D. these days. Speaking of P.D. What else does your P.D. look like? I'm going to be sure to check out the Google classes now.... as soon as I have time. I just found out about the Google Sites app, and used it to create my own Escape the Room (suggestion from a previous Pocketful video on ending the school year). So much fun! Congratulations on the book publishing. Can't wait to read it.
You are such a teacher tech pro! There are so many helpful idea in this video that I will be using for the 2 weeks I have left in the school year. Thank you!!! :)
Since you are the queen of classroom organization, if we do go back into the classroom in the fall, but students cannot share materials, do you have any plans on how you will organize materials?
Aimee Freyer Good question! I also have coop tables, so I know that will definitely not work! My best guess is that we will go online one more semester, or minimally partially.
I want to be a student in your class! LOL! I appreciate everything in this video. None of them are ever too long. I say more please. We’re done in Texas for the summer. Now I’m gearing up for next year in case we continue at home learning. I watched your Google Slides video on how to make teaching slides and started making them for next year. When I saw this format that’s similar but targeted for distance learning by including the digital handouts, I thought it was genius. I posted castify lessons and digital handouts separately, and it seemed so scattered. Putting it all into one slide show will definitely make it less confusing for my students. Why didn’t I think of this. I guess that’s why I watch you. By the way, are you becoming a certified Google teacher? I’ll check that out too. Blessings!
Thank you for your fantastic detailed videos. I have learned so much from you. I appreciate your time and dedication into making them. Take care. Stay safe.
Me too! Getting files perfect always takes me forever. I swore I would do better this year, but with COVID and all my meetings being done from home. It really slowed me down. We are almost done!
I'm an educational sign language interpreter. I'm often asked why I don't become a teacher (I have a master's degree in teaching ESL).... when I see all of the paperwork that teachers have to do... no thank you. My hat is off to all of the teachers doing lesson plans, documenting behavior plans, IEP paperwork, parent meetings, grading papers, etc. ... and maintaining the priority of meeting students' academic and emotional needs!
i've been enjoying your vlogs for a bit now. I mostly follow for the organizational tips since I teach K. I would love for you to do a session (or 2 or 3) on how to set up a covid classroom environment, taking into account social distancing, individualized materials, disinfecting, etc. I'm thinking we will go hybrid first.
Awesome video, I think the hardest part of distance teaching is getting all your students to hand in their work, because you aren't always able to communicate with them all. Now matter how engaging I make my assignments, if I am unable to communicate with some of my parents, then the assignments don't even reach the student. The majority do engage though 💪
I love your routine. Having the chance to walk everyday with trees all around with wide roads is such a dream 🤩 your tip on making a faux white board was great! Im not a teacher but my work involves coaching adults at work amd somehow i stumbled into your youtube videos. All these hitech apps and softwares are amazing in teaching online :) thanks for sharing

Yes! I shared about this several videos ago. However, sometimes it is nice to just have a physical whiteboard instead of doing it all digital.
That sounds like so much fun! I'll have to try that out with my students!
Thanks for the idea Michelle!
There is great add on to Google Slides which allows students to write and draw and a lot more directly on the slides. Also you can record audio on the slides, too. It is amazing. It’s called Pear Deck. Highly recommend it!
Scavenger Hunts are awesome. We do this with my MS and HS kids from Youth Group and they love it too!!!!
Wow I love your tutorials so much, amazing, learned so much, as I m a teacher in Bali and we only started teaching online since covid19.
Your video's are soo helpful for us, thanks for taking the time. 😍
You're videos have been so helpful! Windows logo key + Shift + S will open a snipping tool in Windows for "cutting and pasting" part of a screen.
First year teacher right here! Your videos are so helpful🤗
Thank you so much for all of your great ideas and for teaching us all of your great tricks! I'm so grateful!!! :)
Michelle I love, love this video. It is so therapeutic to watch because you make me feel confident in being able to teach this way. You're very thorough in your explanations. Best tutorial. Thank you so much for what you do to help other educators!
I appreciate you so much. You have taught me so much during this hard time teaching online. You're awesome, thank you so much for sharing.🤗
Thanks Michelle. I love your videos because I always learn a ton and they are super helpful!!
Jillian Chute She is a genius!
Wow!!! You are an amazing teacher!
Mélanie Hébert I hope you don’t let this unusual situation deter you from staying in the profession. This is a really unusual time!
I love all her videos It really helps my presentation fast and easy access to my google classroom
Congratulations on your book! Love your videos!
Would love to see a future video on how to clean up your G Classroom, archive, etc. to get it ready for next year.
she is so good on the technology part of learning on the internet.
Thanks a million! Such great tips. I learned and used them after today's distance learning sessions!
Thanks Michelle love your videos! I found your podcast and have been addicted to it as well. As a future teacher it is so motivating
Michelle you always show me something I did not know. I love your videos. Lol wasn't your clipboard a whiteboard? And already hoping you will have videos telling how you will prepare for the next year.
Patti Esposito Everything is so fluid still, so we need to be prepared for anything 😜
I could write right on the clipboard but it smudges so I'd rather use the page protector which I can easily replace!
Great video! This will be my second year teaching at a HS and your videos eased my anxiety. This video is particularly wonderful!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Love these new teaching techniques!!
Such helpful information and tips. I will be working this summer on my classroom and now have so much helpful information thanks to you😊
Poor you! I end school on thursday the 28th so hopefully the rest of the year goes well!
GĘÑÃ'Ś ÇŁØŞĔŤ Are you online as well? How do you organize lessons?
@@mrs.boytlive6158 oh, I'm not a teacher, but I am still doing online until thursday. But I do asubject a day. :3
GĘÑÃ'Ś ÇŁØŞĔŤ Stay the course. Kids with college degrees make a lot more than those who don’t have one! I am proud of you for sticking with it!
@@mrs.boytlive6158 Thanks! I'll keep that in mind...
Thank you for your wonderful explanation. Your presentation style is lovely and professional. You make me feel a lot better.
I love the rules for scavenger hunt and the reward! So nice!!
You are such a teacher tech pro! There are so many helpful idea in this video that I will be using for the 2 weeks I have left in the school year. Thank you!!! :)
I love your content!!! I feel super inspired to continue working online. Thanks!! And please, continue uploading videos.
Thank you for the insightful session. A real career changing series. God bless.
Mrs. Boyt Live did we ask......
@@mrs.boytlive6158 who asked
Blessings!
Thank you so much! This was the most helpful video I have seen for distance learning!
This is a great resource for distance learning in the primary grades! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your fantastic detailed videos. I have learned so much from you. I appreciate your time and dedication into making them. Take care. Stay safe.
More Distance Teaching videos!😍😍
Lianne Josbacher Her videos are great! I love TH-cam because you can rewind and take notes!
Me too...aaahh! My last day is June 18th as well and I’m still writing IEPs!!!
Me too! Getting files perfect always takes me forever. I swore I would do better this year, but with COVID and all my meetings being done from home. It really slowed me down. We are almost done!
I finished on Thursday!!!!! 😌😌😌😌😌😆😆😁😆😁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕
I'm an educational sign language interpreter. I'm often asked why I don't become a teacher (I have a master's degree in teaching ESL).... when I see all of the paperwork that teachers have to do... no thank you. My hat is off to all of the teachers doing lesson plans, documenting behavior plans, IEP paperwork, parent meetings, grading papers, etc. ... and maintaining the priority of meeting students' academic and emotional needs!
mbosch501 oh wow, are you doing those from Zoom?
i've been enjoying your vlogs for a bit now. I mostly follow for the organizational tips since I teach K.
I would love for you to do a session (or 2 or 3) on how to set up a covid classroom environment, taking into account social distancing, individualized materials, disinfecting, etc. I'm thinking we will go hybrid first.
Another great video once again!
Great tips! Going to order that game now!
Lewis M Yep, she is a genius!
a white 3-ring binder works well as a white board
Beautiful job, Michelle! I learn several new things every time I watch you! 🌹
I stumbled across your video and you are an amazing teacher! I love everything!!
Thank you for sharing! This really helps😊 Greetings from Amsterdam 🇳🇱
Kris Fritsche Wow, are you locked down too?
Mrs. Boyt Live the whole world uis
Love your videos. Just for speed I drag and drop Bitmoji into slides. Really quick. Also, using the Giphy extension for cute gifs.
weefyhannah I love that idea! I’m going to use it too!
I love your videos... you help me understand so much about teaching.
So helpful.Michelle, thank you!
deb schlicksup I agree?
Still waiting for episodes under EdTech. Thank you for being an inspiration!
Mary Louise Lasapin Is that the program your district adopted?
@@mrs.boytlive6158 actually I am from PH teaching in a private school. Her edtech videos really helps on how we can utilize the use of google tools in teaching. 😊
I’ve heard of you in passing (probably on Teachers Pay Teachers), but today was the my first time seeing one of your videos. I must say that I am very impressed; I’ve loved each video so far! I’m very interested in checking out your book and I’m totally putting my “positive pants on” 😅😂 So cute!! Great job!
You are so amazingly creative! Thanks for this video. This really helps with ideas.
Great video! Thanks for sharing :) adapting to distance teaching is definitely a learning curve
As always, I learn so much for you Michelle! Thanks for the tips. 1 1/2 weeks of Distance Learning to go!
