The fact that they tried “hard” is what I like about it. They didn’t just rebrand the look of another cruise line, and they didn’t just throw up a bunch new water slides, roller coasters, indoor skydiving, rock climbing, and say they’re different. This legitimately looks like an eccentric Miami hotel/resort, and I love it as an alternative to what is available on all the other cruise lines. Looks like a true floating resort for adults and not a floating theme park for families with children.

my3hawaiianboys yeah I can see that. I think that’s their intent though. There are plenty of other cruise lines and ships that offer a relaxing cruise. However, this appears to be for the subset of people who want to party, socialize, etc., but also want that “player” vibe and style. And it’s a cruise ship, so I’m absolutely sure there will be areas on the ship where people are relaxing, catching some sun, etc. It’s like the Cosmopolitan or the Hard Rock in Vegas. These are resorts that attract a certain crowd and appeal to a certain lifestyle.
Thought the same thing. While clean and most probably light and airy there is an overload of glossy IKEA like design. While not terrible it does give it a cheaper look than most other ships probably looks much better in person and as you guys said... like Marmite... not for everyone.

I like this ship it looks fun. Lots of people complained about the pool but that doesn’t bother me cause I don’t get in pools on cruises anyway. It’s definitely got the vibe of a party cruise for the 21- maybe 40 crowd and I’m down for that.
I would definitely cruise on this ship and I actually really liked the aesthetics. My balcony cabin on Royal Caribbean was about the same size - especially the tiny shower. I love that they have some unusual and different food options - especially a vegan restaurant. And it is one thing I find quite limiting on other ships. Not having a buffet isn't the end of the world and I will come back weighing less so can't complain. I love the look of the spa and the room with the hanging lights - definitely parade around like I'm in a music video. I think it's fun, different and quite exciting that they didn't 'follow the rules' and gave us another option of cruising that won't appeal to everyone but that's the whole point. I understand the Ikea reference however it is what it is and you never know the true quality of something until you've seen it in person.

I've never been on a cruise because the formal, traditional look of cruises has always put me off. I had starting to plan my 1st cruise for 2020 until the world went mad. Having no personal cruise ship experiences to compare the Scarlet to, I really like this radically different looking ship. Personal preferences are just that, personal, so it's great to have different choices to cater for different tastes. Doesn't mean a style you don't like is rubbish, just means you won't be spending your money on this ship !. Nobody will be forced to book on a cruise they don't like, so the experienced cruise aficionados can calm down.......... Nice review boys.
I agree with the posters who have likened the decor to Ikea and Premier Inns. Comments on CruiseCritic and other sites note that the line is aiming towards the younger/millenial generation. One thing I did not see mentioned in this video is spaces where you can have a connection to the sea, i.e. lounges where you can relax and just enjoy views of the ocean. It will be interesting to watch how this concept fares. My suspicion is that in a couple of years it will be quietly renovated to a more traditional cruise look, to appeal to a broader market.
Loooved it!! Virgin Voyages is not here to look all same like older cruise lines. Is here to change your mind and be disruptive. Kind of comparing it with "W" or "Citizen M" hotel vibes. Coolest cruiseship ever, I just wish they could get Quantum of the seas entertainment and would be P E R F E C T.
This ship looks unbelievable and all adult cruise with 80% balconies. The club reminds me of the mirror scene from enter the dragon. The furniture does look cheap but I like that they have a completely different approach to cruising.
Now that my son turns 18 years old, we can plan visiting this cruise ship. Can you believe that a month later from this video, the cruise industry stopped cruising? I know that it's so sad. Hopefully we will have a chance in the future to visit the Scarlet Lady.
Please... show me ONE *comfortable* place to sit on the ship!!!!!! The seating elements look amazing for the brochure shots... but nothing says: I'm on holiday--let's relax and have fun! One of my problems is in the miniature-sized cabins. Storage?!?! I travel constantly. So many designers sacrifice practicality for design. When they can work seamlessly together! (The 3 F's: Form Follows Function!) Have the cabin designers actually ever traveled and stayed in a hotel--or a cruise ship? Where do you put your essentials? Where do you put your luggage? Basics. I do love the excitement in the design and colors. (Yes, it can be off-putting to the masses... but this isn't a product for the mass-market!) I also agree with many of the comments here and with other posted reviews of the Scarlet Lady. However--when you want to be "different" just to be "different" it shows. The live entertainment options appear to be everywhere... but the Red Room is just awkward at best... just "different"... not better... not good. Just "different". Maybe I had the highest of expectations for the Adult-Only Virgin Voyages--and I feel like that expectation wasn't met. It will also be interesting to see how she ages. Most of the design choices are not friendly to the harsh world of a Cruise Ship. ("Quick! Catch that trolley before it crashes into... never mind.") However--I can't wait to see if for myself. Everything about this ship is sexy as hell to me. Knowing VV's aesthetic has been wildly polarizing, I am even more excited knowing that I'll be on a ship with people who all feel the same way I do. I went on a traditional cruise and I hated it! It makes me feel extremely positive when I see hardcore traditional cruisers sharing their stern self-aggrandizing dislike of the ship and the brand as a whole. The nice thing is that there's room for everyone to find a ship they enjoy and maintain its praises instead of leaving a minging comment about how big of a magnanimous no-thank-you bite they're taking.
Love your vlogs guys, but not this ship. I'm 59 and love to party but this is just plain ugh. That cabin is not large by any means. And that bathroom is tiny. The spa looks cool , but the pool deck. Are you kidding me. I've seen many of your vlogs on different ships and agree with most. But this ship will never get my money. Sorry.
The funny a lot of cruisers say they don't care about the cabin because they are never in it. if the ship lives up to the hype of being youthful and fun I doubt I'm going to spend much time in my cabin. Show me to the club.

I appreciate your hard work and I hope you loved it. I'm glad I saw this because I was thinking of booking, but honestly, not my thing. The room feels cheap, IKEAish, claustrophobic and unfinished. Everything feels like the space was not used to its potential. I am very disappointed. The only cool thing is the hammock.
Am I crazy? Do the ceilings seem really low to anyone else? Also all the colored lights and contrasting patterns are making me dizzy. I'm 25. I feel like this ship should be right up my alley, but I'm really disappointed. I think I'd have to pass. I'll keep an eye on this brand, though.
It isn't for me either, but a lot of people will like it. There are a lot that are interesting to see but it isn't really for most middle aged people like myself and that's ok. Virgin, is a company that promotes a young, hip vibe and this ship reflects that.
Love the both of you! Thank you for the VLOG but the cabin seems small. The balcony is spacious! Salor services reminds me a mobile phone company with the 4 tables! Alot of the decor seems to be for the younger generation. I did like the champagne bar! So the coffee shop has a charge but no speciality dining charge? 🤔 WOW my backyard pool is bigger than that pool!
There will absolutely be a mild refresh in no time at all to make it more normal. I wanted to love Virgin Voyages but the stateroom is key for me. 😔 Unfortunately it looks like a Travelodge of the near future. How stupidly hot are those metal balcony chairs going to be in the Caribbean? 🔥 The hammock chairs will be removed the second a passenger says the ship hit a wave and brought them near the balcony edge.
Now I’m a huge coffee nerd and I am VERY excited about all the Black Eagle espresso machines I saw sprinkled about the ship! Those things are beautiful and NOT cheap. Let’s hope they train their bar staff well!!
I think I'll wait for the next one. The Scarlet Lady looks like it was built for the young, hip crowd, but the pricing is more in line with the income for us old(er) cruisers.

Nice video- there's some very cool design on this ship and some promising features. I'm not sure I care all the much about Instagram moments though, lol. The pool area is small... especially with so many passengers but I don't really swim on cruise ships anyway, always too crowded. All in all nice look.

Thanks for the overview/tour... curious to hear more about the experience but I get the "my first condo/apartment" feel with furniture and stuff. Was cool to see the curtains open when you opened the door to the room. Bathroom looks cramped compared to some (Norwegian comes to mind). Curious to hear stories of drunk people trying to get out of the night club hahahaha
There are hundreds of boutique hotels and they all have something similar to this ship catering for the young and well off. This must be their market. So don’t fret, they probably don follow cruise posts either. We can stick to all the other cruise lines that pander to us older cruisers every whim.
Very modern, updated for those who are “cool and hip!” Looks fun and fresh. Love the hammock, you guys are funny! Spa looks very relaxing… thanks for the tour guys. Ok, love the Champagne bar - my fav. The “lick me till I scream” ice cream shop is fun! So many food venues to choose from.

Room looks spacious because you have no seating and little storage. As soon as you turn the bed into a sofa you'll need to find space for those suitcases that you were storing under there
Being one who has cruised on 4 Windjammer cruises, 1 Norwegian Cruise, 2 Viking Cruises and mostly on Holland America which I prefer! We have been more than 100 sea days on HAL that we just did South America/Antarctica cruise which cost us around $9,000 total for 23 days for an outside cabin on board. I looked up the price for an outside cabin on the Scarlet Lady for only 5 nights is $4,000 for a couple. Our cabins on all HAL ships were much larger than what I see on this video. We always had twice the shelf/drawer storage on HAL and we even had a walk in closet on the Princendam! I only have one complaint that I was disappointed with Holland Americas lobster bisque but I was never disappointed with every other dinner/lunch/breakfast/snack PERIOD. Activities during sea days are plentiful and all the furniture of their ships are so comfortable not what I see in this video. All I see is IKEA furniture even in the cabins. And where are the night stand next to the beds??? I don't like what I see.

I appreciate your hard work and I hope you loved it. I'm glad I saw this because I was thinking of booking, but honestly, not my thing. The room feels cheap, IKEAish, claustrophobic and unfinished. Everything feels like the space was not used to its potential. I am very disappointed. The only cool thing is the hammock.

I’m not impressed. Too many hard surfaces which will make the spaces very noisy. Many of the food ares look like your corner fast food outlet.
Extremely noisy. It looks like in their misguided decision to ignore past ship design, they totally forgot to hire an acoustics engineer.
Am I crazy? Do the ceilings seem really low to anyone else? Also all the colored lights and contrasting patterns are making me dizzy. I'm 25. I feel like this ship should be right up my alley, but I'm really disappointed. I think I'd have to pass. I'll keep an eye on this brand, though.

It isn't for me either, but a lot of people will like it. There are a lot that are interesting to see but it isn't really for most middle aged people like myself and that's ok. Virgin, is a company that promotes a young, hip vibe and this ship reflects that.

Love the both of you! Thank you for the VLOG but the cabin seems small. The balcony is spacious! Salor services reminds me a mobile phone company with the 4 tables! Alot of the decor seems to be for the younger generation. I did like the champagne bar! So the coffee shop has a charge but no speciality dining charge? 🤔 WOW my backyard pool is bigger than that pool!

There will absolutely be a mild refresh in no time at all to make it more normal. I wanted to love Virgin Voyages but the stateroom is key for me. 😔 Unfortunately it looks like a Travelodge of the near future. How stupidly hot are those metal balcony chairs going to be in the Caribbean? 🔥 The hammock chairs will be removed the second a passenger says the ship hit a wave and brought them near the balcony edge.

Now I’m a huge coffee nerd and I am VERY excited about all the Black Eagle espresso machines I saw sprinkled about the ship! Those things are beautiful and NOT cheap. Let’s hope they train their bar staff well!!
Good Video lads. I visited on Tuesday in Liverpool. Its Nice but has some oversights. Basically i see it as Love island on a ship.
I think I'll wait for the next one. The Scarlet Lady looks like it was built for the young, hip crowd, but the pricing is more in line with the income for us old(er) cruisers.

Nice video- there's some very cool design on this ship and some promising features. I'm not sure I care all the much about Instagram moments though, lol. The pool area is small... especially with so many passengers but I don't really swim on cruise ships anyway, always too crowded. All in all nice look.

Great to see a positive review. I was on board Saturday night and while everything didn't go smoothly, I thought the ship has great potential and can see the appeal. I agree not for probably 90% of the existing cruise market but that's not who its aimed at! Loved the vlog

Thanks for the overview/tour... curious to hear more about the experience but I get the "my first condo/apartment" feel with furniture and stuff. Was cool to see the curtains open when you opened the door to the room. Bathroom looks cramped compared to some (Norwegian comes to mind). Curious to hear stories of drunk people trying to get out of the night club hahahaha
@Brian All the balcony rooms on Norwegian ships I've been on have a bigger bathroom than that. Could be camera angles and such but that looked small.

There are hundreds of boutique hotels and they all have something similar to this ship catering for the young and well off.
This must be their market.
So don’t fret, they probably don follow cruise posts either.
We can stick to all the other cruise lines that pander to us older cruisers every whim.
The ship as a whole hasn’t grabbed my attention yet, but I do like the look of that spa! It looks like a spaceship.😊😊

Very modern, updated for those who are “cool and hip!” Looks fun and fresh. Love the hammock, you guys are funny! Spa looks very relaxing… thanks for the tour guys. Ok, love the Champagne bar - my fav. The “lick me till I scream” ice cream shop is fun! So many food venues to choose from.
I am not going to lie - I was not sure if I was going to like these fellas and then - BAM - they hit me with stellar attitudes and personalities and I am hooked. Just subscribed and so glad I did! And...did he say drag brunch????
Fantastic video guys. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I can see that this ship is not for everyone but that's what's fantastic about it. I'm sick of the same old ships so it's nice to have choice! There is now a cruise line for everyone.

Room looks spacious because you have no seating and little storage. As soon as you turn the bed into a sofa you'll need to find space for those suitcases that you were storing under there

Being one who has cruised on 4 Windjammer cruises, 1 Norwegian Cruise, 2 Viking Cruises and mostly on Holland America which I prefer! We have been more than 100 sea days on HAL that we just did South America/Antarctica cruise which cost us around $9,000 total for 23 days for an outside cabin on board. I looked up the price for an outside cabin on the Scarlet Lady for only 5 nights is $4,000 for a couple. Our cabins on all HAL ships were much larger than what I see on this video. We always had twice the shelf/drawer storage on HAL and we even had a walk in closet on the Princendam! I only have one complaint that I was disappointed with Holland Americas lobster bisque but I was never disappointed with every other dinner/lunch/breakfast/snack PERIOD. Activities during sea days are plentiful and all the furniture of their ships are so comfortable not what I see in this video. All I see is IKEA furniture even in the cabins. And where are the night stand next to the beds??? I don't like what I see.
