THIS is the content I love and need!!! It's one thing to show a perfectly manicured home with nothing out, but that doesn't help me in real life. This was AMAZING and thank you for showing your home! It's absolutely beautiful AND realistic!
I feel the same way! This type of storing and organizing is more my style. 😊 I had way too many toys for my children. Now I watch my grandchildren and I have toys that fit in the room they play in. Everything has a place. As the littlest one grows, I can start eliminating the toys that fit in her age group 😊.
Minimalism is not about having less, it's about being intentional with what you do have. 😊 I would say for a family of almost 10, your house looks very minimal! This was fun to watch. 💚 thank you for sharing.
The way you speak is so calming, not hyped up or over the top. I love listening to you. I imagine your calmness must go a long way to creating a peaceful environment in your home.
I just wanted to say that no minimal, organization, or purge video has ever got me motivated. When I watched this video it made me feel calm. After, I just started organizing things and got things done I have not been able to manage for over a year. Idk why, but this video motivated me like no other video has❤ a BIG THANK YOU!
Your home is beautiful. You really honor your house by how you style each room with early American antiques and vintage pieces. I feel like it's only frozen in time and I mean that in a good way ! There is hardly any plastic and only wooden and other natural materials. I adore your home. Thank you for sharing with us.
I would say each family’s minimalism is different, and I think as long as you are only keeping what you need to use that’s minimalism. I love it! ❤ looks so good
CAN YOU PLEASE DO AN OUTSIDE TOUR OF YOUR HOME??? I am praying for a safe and healthy arrival of your little one! I love your channel and I find that we have so much in common.
I admire your journey to be more minimalistic while still maintaining a home with so much character. Love all the baskets and armoirs! Empty drawers…amazing.
Lisa, you have created a warm and inviting home. Our sons did not play with toys and in our day there were toys everywhere. Books were always welcome and we did keep clothes to a minimum. You are doing everything the best way! Books, creative toys, games, Bible study, and I’m sure, lots of love. Prayers for your next little one!
I love all of your old classic furniture. Reminds me of growing up and having sleep overs at my grandmas 😊 nothing better than solid wood quality pieces that last a lifetime! I love your “minimalist” lifestyle, I get really overwhelmed with having too much stuff.
Your home is so beautiful and beautifully maintained! I'm starting to understand how you are able to do all that you do. Streamlining is something that I need to do more of in my home. Thanks so much for inviting us into your home and showing us around!
Lisa I’m delighted that you’ve decided to employ someone to help you with your curtain project. You and Luke have enough on your plate what with homeschooling, homesteading and running a business. I’m so ashamed of the clutter I’ve accumulated over the years, seeing and hearing your thoughts and systems for keeping things manageable is giving me great incentive to get cracking with a major decluttering project. Praying for a safe delivery of new baby soon. ❤🇮🇪🙏
amazing home, love your organization and yes you are a minimalist, I see no junk piles or wasted space. Love the empty shelves and drawers. Thanks for sharing. From one aspiring minimalist momma of 7 to another :) Cant wait to hear about your newest little ones arrival. You are in my prayers
What a great video. Lots of useful tips. The blue color on the walls is so calming ❤ and the chair in your master bedroom ❤😍 a toolbox for legos is a great idea. By having less you have removed clutter from your home and minds. 🙂 kids will always find fun and useful ways to entertain themselves. They don't need everything that needs batteries or has a cord. 😊🏠
I think this is very minimal. As a mom of 3, its great to see what you have with so many children and lets me see I have way more to get rid of. We have been working on decluttering, but it's a process for us. Thank for sharing.
I like that your home is practical and pretty! Many minimalists go to the extreme of not wanting any decor at all. While I do want to be mindful of how much I have, so I don't become overwhelmed, I'm very much a fan of having a doily or cloth for every surface, and little meaningful knick-knacks to discover in every corner. You've shown that it's possible to have a decorated home without having overwhelmingly full storage. Some things can just as well be decoratively stored in plain sight :)
I admire your spirit so much. Such a loving mom taking care of her husband and children. That’s is what is missing in the thread of most American homes now. It’s time for people to wake up and understand what is important. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Blessing on the soon birth of your baby.
🙏Lisa praying all is well. I wish your videos and other people video videos were around when I was raising our children and even though they are grown now I’m inspired by all of you to manage things better in my household. My hope is that the younger generation gets inspired to learn how to bake, cook, and get back to a more simpler life that’s abundant in love, and care of family. Thank you for all the information and for sharing your story with us. ❤🙏
I so appreciate the minimal-ish!! 😂 we are downsizing from a house to an RV, with a baby and cat, and I am having to really evaluate what I NEED, it was good to see this perspective!
You are an amazing mother. I love how you enjoy old furniture and you keep it in its natural state . After watching this video I am headed up to the laundry room for some decluting . Thanks for the push.
This might be one of my fav videos of yours-and I’ve followed you a long time! Thank you so much. A real home tour especially for a big family is so helpful. I have 6 and was raised an only child so I had no idea how big families did it!
Hi Lisa, your home is beautiful! I love all of the antiques and personal touches. I have two toddlers and they get into anything and everything! For instance, the baskets under your bed - I know for me my curious kiddos would have those dumped out and the contents scattered all around. Do you have any advice in handling this?
You might enjoy the longer content on parenting and homemaking that I offer over on The Simple Farmhouse Life podcast and TH-cam channel...lots of encouragement from me and other moms. As far as this specifically, as simple as it sounds...I would just tell them no and remove them from what you don't want them getting into and give them something they can do....a little repetition of this and they will get it...
More than even minimal, I feel like the word I would use is practical. You understand what your family needs for a good life and you have it, and you've created a home that works for all of you. Also absolutely agree on the Duplo - my oldest son was the first grandchild and as a result received so many toys, and most of them were barely touched, but we love the Duplo. He has a small set of cars as well that he loves, and everything else has been put away in storage until we figure out how to pass it on.
This was an extremely timely video for me. I've been thinking a lot about going through my apartment and determining what I really need to keep and what needs to be purged. I know there are things around my home that haven't been used in years and are just sitting wherever they are taking up space. Also, you have a beautiful home and I love the way you decorate!
I only have two kids and we have been inspired since having kids to be minimal on clothing and toys and I’ve never felt stressed over laundry and toys ever!! Such a game changer
I love that your home is not cluttered and yet it looks homey and comfortable. Also I absolutely love your downstairs bathroom. It looks like it has always been the way it is but I remember when you renovated it. You also look adorable!
Favorite thing was the crib with curtains in master. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for 16 months of number 6. But now thinking it will have to happen in one of the boys rooms instead. Thanks for sharing! I like your uses for baskets for unconventional things as well! I just designed a waxed canvas tote for firewood that I think I’ll be using for some organizing!
I love this! As a mom of 8, I really have been desiring to work on de-cluttering our home and practicing more minimalism! It’s hard not feeling like you need so many things with a large family, but you don’t. I so appreciate your vlogs and wisdom and tips! I do not quite have your gifts of beautifying your home/homemaking skills, but I truly appreciate your gifts, at the very least they are inspiring for me! We live in a small 1950s ranch just outside of Denver, CO and I have loved your advice on cleaning and making nice even the old dingy ‘not-yet updated,’ kitchen, bathroom, etc. I have tried to do that as I can, and it’s helped me feel better about my home even though it’s just not where I want it to be yet. I think this mindset is so important for life in general. Anyway I just love your content and benefit from it! My kids, especially teen girls, love it too! Thank you! We are also so excited for your impending birth of your sweet baby! Prayers for you and your family in this sweet season of transition!
I don’t know how many years you’ve been married, but if it’s less than 33 I can warn you what the future will be like if you don’t occasionally clean out… 😄 My mom and dad seriously need a dumpster after 33 years and 8 children. And even after the children move out, you’ll have to set some boundaries if you don’t still want their overflow junk stored at your house. Also, my parents built 2 homes brand new, and on the third move they weren’t able to build. Their house is now almost 45 years old and very little has been replaced or updated. I cannot begin to tell you how many wonderful memories we have made in that home and how much people love to visit. The attitude of the homemaker matters far more than how new or fancy the objects in the home are.
Love this! What about using part of the under the stairs closet as a kids play place in the winter when they can’t go out as often? A little battery lamp/lantern, rug and then whatever the kids bring in?
Yes!! My mom has a closet under the stairs the kids adore. Christmas lights hang above with lots of pillows and books. We had a cubby in my grandparents place we all loved and as an adult I saw it for what it was- an awkward part of the roof/loft they made into a cupboard and shoved the extra blankets in and threw some fun doors with antique knockers on. Lol it was one of our biggest memories. I think they could cut a hole under the lower part of the stairs and split the space in two with a divider and close it off easily with some curtains if they wanted a quicker project that still looks nice.
If you’re looking for my thoughts, thank you for sharing! It seems you’ve found a lot of great systems that work for your family. It seems like a perfect balance. It seems clean, functional, and extremely well organized, which is very refreshing. I love how you have matching bedspreads for the kids, plus an extra in the linen closet, so they can all be washed together and used for whatever room. These ideas are really a game changer and so inspiring! I would also like to hear how you pick your antique pieces, if you stick with a period, or if you choose based on just liking it. Also, how you decide the scale for a space so that it doesn’t feel too bulky or cluttered or overwhelming for the space. You have lots of room to walk around and a nice flow, but it feels very cozy. Basically, goals!
I watched this video this afternoon while taking a break. Our family tries to live minimal-ish as well. Thank you for your continued inspiration. All the best to you as you continue to rest and recover this week with your darling little boy 🥰
As a minimalist for seventeen years who is considering the size of your family, your home is organized and clutter free on the outside especially, but definitely could use a little extra love organizing the huge cabinet and kitchen drawers on their insides. Keeping all that you use, and not having an over abundance of things you don't need, you definitely are doing a great job!! Your home is cleaner than a lot of families of 2 or 3! Very impressive. I loved seeing the bedrooms. LEGOs are the only toy we have left here really, which is good since I have an infant that will eventually play with them too. What a great resource of creativity they are! I love that your kids have about a drawer per kid. Mine too!! That's awesome. I'd say you seem to be a minimalist and I love that you have empty shelves considering how many people live in your home. That is really amazing. As someone else said, minimalism is different per person, but with the "standard" being that you only keep what you use and need, and I feel you do that. You have a lovely home!!
Thank you Lisa for your courage to show us your "secret places". 😘These weeks I'm decluttering my home and I'm sure, your tips will help me. Thanks a lot. ❤
Such a beautiful home! It’s so warm and welcoming. Looking forward to seeing the newest little blessing. Take care and God bless your sweet family. 😀❤️
I really love your home and the way you think with maintaining your spaces. I’m very minimal with all things kids related but books! Simple wardrobes make our mama lives so much better. ❤
Love looking at older or vintage-look farmhouses. I loved the span of your home & layout. And your decorating is right up my alley. As far as minimalism, I think you do a great ongoing job of keeping only whats needed/used.
I have a closet like the one you have under the stairs. The best storage solution that I have come up with is a self contained unit on wheels. It could be some old cabinets lashed together or a metal restaurant shelving unit.(on wheels) You could store all of the seasonal items you mentioned like boots, hats, gloves versus swimsuits, goggles, beach towels, etc. So yes, twice a year you have to pull out everything else in front like the vacuums, etc. to roll out your unit, but what doesn’t need a good clean twice a year? Or, you could store sentimental items like the magazines you don’t want to get ruined and tape a list inside the closet door that keeps a running inventory of the items stashed way in the back.
My hat's off to you; if I had a large family I'm afraid my house would look like a yard sale!! 😂 I'm always organizing and it's just my husband and I. It's just fun getting rid of things. I love watching you cook, and keep your family functional!
This home tour reminds me of how my mother styled our house when I was little. She had so many quilts and antique pieces. It's beautiful and reflects a time when people actually put people first and made quality items that were made to stand the test of time. You are putting your family first by not having so much, and that really counts in this day and age where everything is at your fingertips. I moved up to Canada with my husband, and we can't even afford to buy a home as all the places around us are selling for over a million. I would give anything for my kids to have a yard and to build a home like this. We have 4 kids and want more, and your story gives me so much hope for future generations. Thanks for being such a down to earth beacon of light. Jesus has called us to shine that light and your family is doing just that. Thank you and may God bless you and your family.
I am a real “ cleanie”, and am into household organizing. One essential component to keeping organized is having pieces/ spaces to organize into!! Bookcases, cabinets, armoires, decorative baskets, boxes, file cabinet, etc. are a must! Invest in these things first. EVERYTHING MUST HAVE A PLACE. You don’t throw your clothes all over the floor… you have a closet/ armoire and chest of drawers! It is not always how much or how little one has, but DOES IT HAVE A SPACE? For example, I have hundreds of books, but I also have lots of bookcases, and they are neatly organized there. I also clean out regularly, and reassess our needs.
I’d say your are minimalist, I can’t believe how organized you are with 7 soon to be 8 children, I think it just shows you how much we don’t need!!! Also I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and we didn’t have everything, the latest toys, but we made our own fun and got creative or we were out riding bikes etc,Ty ❤❤❤
Lisa, just lisening to your voice makes me calmer, love your minimalist home. For big families, I think laundry and toys are the most problematic areas, so I think you managing it wonderfuly. I belive that minimalism isnt abou depriving yourself, its about choosing what is important to you and getting rid of what is not serving you.
I love how real you live in your home. Things are organized because you know where everything is and it makes sense for your life. It does not have to look "perfect" because it is your life and not meant to show off as if you do not even live there.
So encouraging! Im about to be a mom of 7 and i used to really strive for minimalism in a way that was functional for us but after moving its been so hard to organize and also make look beautiful in a very outdated home. So im talking one project at a time and this video was so encouraging to me. A good reminder to let things go that are causing us stree because we just cant realistically keep up with all the "stuff" that 6 kiddos accumulate! Cant wait to hear about when your little one arrives!
This is the best content. Having a big family, things accumulate SO DANG FAST. I feel like I'm constantly tidying and trying to declutter. My kids would rather color on an Amazon box than play with toys, so those are what I declutter the most. I noticed as the video continued, how so very similar our family is to yours. Our guest bathroom is also our laundry room/most used bathroom/random lightbulb holder. 😂 And our office space is the space that needs the most decluttering/organization. YOUR office space is beautiful. I love that everything is behind doors. You're a great mom, and a great inspiration for those of is watching. Thank you for posting! Good luck with baby (I'm sure you've had him already and this was a pre-recorded video). ❤
Definitely needed this kind of video! In a season of purging, reorganizing, prepping house for new baby. This has me feeling super inspired! Favorite lines: “it doesn’t have to be like that, even with a big family”… totally gave me hope!…and “we don’t really fold”, Haha yes, speaking my language
Wow! This was so nice!! your house is rustic beauty!!! You are just amazing lady! I know i comment that on ALL your videos but it is the thought that keeps coming to my head as i watch your videos!! Simple elegance is your home!! and you have children in it!! Really, you inspire me!!
This so so so helpful! We are under contract on an early 1900s farmhouse, and closet space is just not as much of a thing in those older homes, so this will be really valuable advice!!!
Great job! I have seven and have homeschooled for 25 years now, and I’ve learned the same things. Less things gives you more time and more life. I also really enjoyed watching! You motivated my 11 yr old in another video to want to bake bread and pick flowers. 🌺 How sweet! Thank you for sharing your life here!
Would love to get a closer look and see how you set up the area for the baby bed in your room. Love the idea of curtians around the baby bed to block the light
Always enjoying seeing your home tours, Lisa, whatever the reason, whenever during the calendar year. Keeping things simple and organized makes good sense. Overall, less stress for all.
We only had 2 kids and they are well grown with families now. I am slowly trying to get rid of things we don't use now or need. I know one day we will either move from our farmhouse or if we pass away and I don't want our kids to have to go through piles of stuff they either don't want or need etc. Less stressful for everyone. I love how you use baskets to hide things. I need to do more of that!
Once again I am truly inspired!!! you’re half my age and I just absolutely love your home, how clean it looks and how you decorate with the furniture and everything. I especially love the cupboards you have in the mudroom. My daughter has four kids and she need something like that!
Your style is beautiful and the perfect amount of minimalism to serve your family well. I love all the old beds and the old, original farm house touches throughout the house. I am always encouraged because I am minimalistic when it comes to toys and decor and it sometimes you fight that game of wanting to have more because others do. In the end it’s so much better to not let stuff rule your time.
I think this was great! It makes me want to get rid of more stuff that we don't need. And I love how you incorporate beautiful baskets and antiques into the functionality of your home.
Love that your son loves to sew!! 😊 Also, the tool chest for keeping legos in is genius! My mom had 8 too (seven brothers and me) and we didn’t have a lot of toys (kept most in the closet under the stairs), but your storage ideas are soo good. Such an inspiration to me to get organized and get rid of stuff we don’t use. Praying for you as you deliver another sweet baby!!! 💙
It was a great tour. Have you ever thought about a bench in the mudroom? Underneath could be a good place for shoe bins to free up some space inside the cabinets for more jackets?
You are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your life and systems that work with a big family. As a mother of 4, soon to be 5, I'm truly grateful ❤
First of all, I think your front door is BEAUTIFUL 😍. Your home feels very welcoming, and cozy. I really like how you have decorated your 🏠, a little at a time, as you find special pieces, that you truly like. The end result is that your 🏠 has very good flow, from oom to room; and the pieces all blend very well together, throughout the 🏠. Beautiful!!!
Love, love, LOVE this! I have a “minimalish” home too! I don’t want to spend unnecessary time cleaning when I could be doing other things, and I love being able to make quick decisions when I get dressed! Thanks for sharing the tour of your lovely home!

I could not agree more!
Same! Especially when it comes to minimalism with kids!
Thank you! I have six children and am trying to figure out how to be a minimalist and have a stress free home.

YES 😭❤️ Makes me wanna declutter every inch of my home tomorrow
The curtained crib cubby is GENIUS. Genius genius GENIUS!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I didn't see that
I love that crib isn't it awesome!

I love this. You make organization seem so attainable. Not fussy, just practical, while being beautiful as well. ❤

Yes her home is literally perfect and its amazing how she can pull it off with 7-8 children.. i mean most moms cant with 3!
your videos inspire me so much on being a better homemaker for the people i love, your content is so pure and joyfull!! Keep going! Blessings

and around the world Katherine, I’m a Mom of grown up children and admire Lisa so much, I’m still learning from her ❤
@@carolshaw7904 my children are also grown but Lisa has so much that she teaches us about being a housewife and mother. Her energy is contagious.

My favorite tip you shared was “if you’re always picking it up it’s time to down size” definitely going to do that!
WOW. If I had that much storage space, I would be on the moon with joy! What a lovely house.
Thank you! 😊
Keep the couch. So good in there. Pop the heirloom box between the two beds. Creating more space between the beds.
Your home is so simple and lovely and feels calm. This is an inspiration for the rest of us to keep headed in that direction.
How the drawers are getting stuck. Have Luke go through and use furniture wax on the slides. Then they'll glide very easily!
Congrats on 500 K subscribers 🎉
You’ve inspired me once again, to reduce clutter!
Yay! Thank you!
Love it! I use my dryer as a standing desk lol.
I love your house because it is well lived and homey, kind of like a warm blanket on a cold winter day. ❤️
Your home is beautiful and what my dreams are made of! Especially all the unpainted solid wood ❤
Thank you so much!
I really love your home and the way you think with maintaining your spaces. I’m very minimal with all things kids related but books! Simple wardrobes make our mama lives so much better. ❤
That’s absolutely minimal, such a lovely home 😊
I hope you are comfortable, happy, and resting peacefully as I am watching.
I have been longing for a new home tour from you. Thank you. Love it soooo much. So inspiring ✨️
New mom here!! This is the lifestyle I’m working towards! Thank you for your channel❤️
Thank you so much!!
Totally minimalist to me! In the best way! Very inspiring for someone with a big family who doesn’t know what to do with all “the stuff”. Thank you!!
So dreamy! 😍 perfect blend of a cozy home without being cluttered. Definitely inspiring!
This so so so helpful! We are under contract on an early 1900s farmhouse, and closet space is just not as much of a thing in those older homes, so this will be really valuable advice!!!
I love your videos, but it's so sweet and so spectacular!❤Thanks so much for sharing this❤Love it❤
Great video. Thank you so much for being so gracious and opening your home to us! I love your approach to minimalism.
If you search on this channel you will find a video of when I made the curtains and you can see it more up close.
I just love watching to see how pretty everything in your farmhouse is!
Congratulations on500 subscribers! I subbed just to see how you manage a big family! I am one of eight kids so I can relate!
500k
I just live your hair in this video! I have long hair and I have been looking for ways to have it up and out of the way.
Thank you for sharing your home with us. Inspiring!
You are so welcome!
Your home is beautiful and warm. Very welcoming. Thank you for the tour.
Thank you so much!
Absolute beautiful home! I love being a minimalist
Thank you!! 😊
I think this was great! It makes me want to get rid of more stuff that we don't need. And I love how you incorporate beautiful baskets and antiques into the functionality of your home.
I loved this tour. So wonderful to hear your.process.
❤ Less is more thank you for this valuable lesson. What a beautiful home. Definitely worth striving for! God Bless
I’m not usually a big home tour person but this was actually really inspiring and helpful. Thanks for sharing!!
I'm so glad!
FANTASTIC VIDEOS SINCE I FOUND YOU A SHORT TIME AGO. YOU ARE ALL THAT AND. MORE!!!!
Your home is very minimal. I love it! I can't wait to finally get my home in order.
Congratulations!
Blessings Helena Montana. Always love your content and prayers for a safe delivery.😇😇
Beautiful ,
I think you should keep the couch in the bedroom is looks great there and is great for reading time .
