The westernmost border island of the Japanese archipelago, located 514km from Naha and 111km from Suao Port in Taiwan. Locals have long called it Dunang. For a period after the war, Japan prospered greatly through barter trade with Taiwan. There are three settlements on the island: Sona on the north side, Kubora on the west, and Hiyo on the south side. According to records from the 15th century, people were blessed with the bounties of the land and sea and lived a free life, but there is also a sad legend that a poll tax was imposed in the 17th century, resulting in the so-called ``reduction of the number of people''. . A treasure trove of endemic and rare species such as the world's largest moth, Yonagunisan, and one of the native horses, Yonaguniuma. The area around Mt. Urabedake and Mt. Nowadays, the number of tourists who come to the island for fishing, diving, and dynamic natural scenery is increasing. In addition, research and analysis of underwater ruins off the coast of Shinkawabana is also attracting attention. In March 2016, the Yonaguni Garrison of the Ground Self-Defense Force was opened. About 150 Self-Defense Forces personnel, mainly coastal surveillance units, are stationed there. (Refer to "Shimadasu")

So close to Taiwan - was surprised as it seems such a long way from the main Islands of Japan! The Salt Factory is an odd shape & the goat looks friendly, just the same as goats here in England!
The graveyard at 10:30 is very different as well - facinating video!

Is it the same as the British goat! This area was once the Ryukyu Kingdom. The shape of the tomb is also unique. Thank you 😊
