love these read tutorials; I've never been fortunate enough to play the game but I'm going to start using these reads in my madden games! all they do in Scotland is soccer and rugby; just not the same or as good!
Thank you for these schemes/route combos. I'm sure I'll use at least a few of them. I like the way you explain who the read is. That really does simplify it.
Thanks for the comment. I should update these a bit. Since I put these together, Ive had opportunities to talk to NFL coaches and pick their brains. Although the material is on point, there are some subtle nuances that some coaches might find interesting. Also, now that things have gone digital, I have better quality film cut-ups.
Good point ... but that is a two-receiver side and the LB was in his route path. The back was running the flat route so he had to use a vertical release. Sorry for the confusion.
Yes Hunter -- go to progressions. I just put a video up with no voice-over because it was requested ASAP. Come to the LOS, pick a primary based on pre-snap or how its drawn up. Drop back expecting to make that primary throw and watch the defense on the drop because you already know where the receiver will be when the ball has to come out. Last crossover get eye on where the opening should be and start the throw-motion and react and throw or pull it down and re-set back foot and if throw
yes -- all that means is that the SS now becomes a Linebacker and he is tighter to the LOS and tac kle. Play-action is nice because the 4-4 is designed to stop the run. There are a lot of holes down-field as far as the passing game is concerned.
Ideally I want him to use the seam-release when they are in a run type defense because it attacks the middle of the field. However, those backers were flying to the flat so the WR had to adjust his route. However, he has to be at a specific landmark at a specific time. Its not an offense where you run the dig to get open; the precise route will get you open. Its a philosophy. I want the QB to be able to throw to a spot blind-folded and know that the receiver will be where he needs to be.
There's one thing I wanted to ask you about this video. You said that the Dig route (with the seam release) is used only by a single side receiver, and yet on this video at 0:26 this is not the case. Could you explain why?

Great Video! You learn so much from just watching and the more your watch, they more visual reps you are getting.

how does the curl-flat/swing read work when the defense is in cover 2
ive seen that all of the corners are running light coverage, these reads get allot harder when they run a good press, any suggestions?
Yes, but now the corner becomes the flat defender
Can someone explain to me what a read is?
I think Russel Wilson has to see this
I'm a Pats fan
ok thanks
I would noe because I am a quarterback.
