- So after learning the basics back on the Moon, we travel to Europa. An icy wasteland with sub zero temperatures.
We know what we need to do. Build another station capable of sustaining our life. With as much Oxygen as we could ever want at our disposal, this should be pretty easy right?
Remember, the further from the Sun, the less effective solar panels are. And the higher the pressure, the more effective wind mills become. You've entered shadow zone. Forget the sun, embrace the wind :)
I've played Europa before so here are some suggestions. First of all, the default settings for your suit is way higher than needed. You can reduce both pressure but more importantly the temperature to save power. Also, you kept your suit light on all the time. Try to remember to turn it off, or even better craft the portable light and put that in your suit or uniiform while turned on.
Also, on Europa you will have issues with pipes and gasses getting way too cold so as soon as you can, replace them all with insulated pipes and stick to that. You will also notice that a few of the items you place on the walls or windows will leak heat.
If u havnt steel - u have to use, what u have ;)
Hi Bjurran,
Thanks for the comment.
I'll try and remember the suit settings in the next episode I play (episode 4)
I know it's late, but 6 is the max upright wind turbines when using small cables. During a storm they make 800w eaxh and the small cable handles 5kw.
AS good tip is never too late. Thank you.
Just to confirm. I've only just started playing and didn't know this. Thank you.
@@YorkshirePirate Hi Yorkshire Pirate,
I'm glad it helped. Thank you for the comment.
Tips: you can make passive vents w/o a pipe bender. Place a pipe where you want a passive vent or cowl (don’t place this pipe in a wall) connect two more pipe segments pressurize it with an active vent for about 4-5 sec then remove the pipe segments heading to the the one u want as a vent. It will break and now it’s pipe cowl!
Free navigation: print a GPS card and a tablet for it pop in a bat and find your HOME cords (usually the lander starts at 0,, 0, 0) go mining and when ur rdy come home find ur CURRENT cords if Z current is GREATER than Z home u are SOUTH of home. If X current is GREATER than X home then you are WEST of home. Once you start to the numbers move into the way you want turn off tablet
For wind small turbines do 800w in a storm and lg turbines do 10K W in a storm and they come about every 6-8 days so watch ur cable wattage limits
Lastly for your question about harvie scripts I left an answer on your last moon vid of a few days ago. Yes there is a solution to your problem
Hey Charlesheath,
Thanks for the comment. I've already recorded episode 2 which is out tomorrow. I wish i'd have thought about that passive vent workaround. I'll remember for next time!
Thanks for the tip about the GPS card.
I'll take a look at your comment. I figured there would be a way to manage multiple Harvies with less code but I just don't know it yet.
So you decided to try Europa?
Good choice, I think.
Mars would have been too easy, coming from the moon. And Vulcon to difficult.
Small hit, don't spend too much on solar power, use wind instead, in the beginning.
And stirling from mid game on.
Maybe gas fuel in the late game.
Hey Pvstiphout,
Yea I fancied a cooler planet to begin with. Try and get some passive cooling setup for the base to help with the power issues in the beginning. Yea wind turbines for the win.
You have more than enough flares to heat up that shack to +20 C. Flares are OP for heating up space.
Using "T" to place an item, u have in the hand, will do it the right way ;) (e.g. mobile solarcharger)
I from brazil 🇧🇷 good gameplay brow!!
Hi Bruno,
Welcome to the channel!
Hello from belgium 🫡
Hey Louiscornil,
Welcome to the channel :)
I don't think there is any wind on Europa
Absolutely is. Any body with atmosphere has wind as an effect of heat input from the star it orbits
