How tall is Shae ? I’m thinking of changing my Vulcan S foot pegs to the reduced reach but I’m not sure if it will be too close or not as my height (5’7”) right on the cusp of the recommended height for mid and short reach set up. Thank you
in my country they sell them for 200 USD up, but their ads said its free. most buyer just take whats fitted on the bike because you can get cheaper fit.
In Thailand you have to pay for fitting also! I had to explain what the various ergo settings were to a very unbelieving attendant who only believed me when I showed them on TH-cam. The free fitting was dismissed quickly. They did mention a few other points which indicared product information dissemination to sales staff is a low prority in Thailand.
I got the long and short Rod with mine when i Bought it, the dealer asked if i wanted to try it before i Bought it and told me about the fit options, so some dealers know what they are soposed to do without any extra
I got mine used from a Honda dealership. I think it has the standard mid-fit seat, bars and peg position. Since I didn't buy it new from a Kawasaki dealership, I'd probably have to pay to switch out any of those parts. Luckily mid fit seems to be perfect for me, despite my short legs.
The Cockney Biker I’d be willing to bet a proper Kawi dealership (One where bikes isn’t a sideline) would take care of me anyway, just for customer satisfaction. But I wouldn’t count on it.
I got my Vulcan S yesterday and your vid has made me glad I got such a good dealership. I only needed the pegs moved because i have short legs. The sales guy the dealership owner and the mechanic all made sure I was comfy and the bike well adjusted, i knew about the shorter rod but didnt need to mention it and they even threw in the medium rod in case i decide to move the pegs back to the middle setting. You're dead right about the difference between a dealership that specializes in bikes, last dealership sold atvs etc and while they were good they were always having to check things cause bikes werent really their thing.

The Cockney Biker I was ready for an upgrade but couldnt afford it I loved the R15 cause i could push it to its limits and not get into too much trouble. Loving the extra oomph. Now i just need to find my cam so i can make some videos.

Thanks for the heads up. When I buy something new it's because I want something that's never been wrenched on. I can screw it up on my own I don't have to pay someone else to practice and learn on my bike. ???? Never let a dealership work on your stuff the mechanics get paid flat rate and will slingshot it together. !!! Watch videos or have a buddy that knows mechanical help you do it yourself. !!!! $119 set of Craftsman tools and then buy other odds and ends. ???? You'll save thousands of dollars. ????
For simple things like Oil changes or general (non Technical) fix's you're right.. but there has to come a time when you have to take the bike to the shop and hope they're going to fix it properly..

Lmfao. Went threw the same thing here in NJ at motorcycle mall. Dumb ass wanted to charge us for short reach. Then my wife wanted to sit on one first, the salesman tells me it is. I tell him no its mid. He brings out the mechanic he tells me its short. I tell him they are booth wrong its mid you can see the bolt pattern. Holy crap had to get the manager and then argue over it being no cost. Last bike from motorcycle mall. Have purchased 3 bikes since then elsewhere. Vulcan awesome bike especially for the price.
Yep.. You have to be careful with some of these dealers, I really regret not pulling in the manager like you did.. So Kudos to you for standing your ground and getting whats due to you.. and Yes, KVS's are fantastic bikes! My daughter loves it..!! ( I like to steal a ride from time to time..) I think the 650 Vulcan is the best size the best power and the best handling bike on the market for the money .!!! A beautiful Hi-Tech modern design. !!! A parallel twin less than Square. !!!! Somewhat stolen from old British designs. ??? Vintage Triumph and Norton's. !!!! But much more reliable. ???
You're right.. It's a beautiful bike.. I'm not really convinced that it's in any way copying the old British bikes.. the reason I think is.. although there are many bikes sharing engine shapes & positions.. (V-twins, parallel's, 4 Bangers etc..) there are worlds of differences in the technical's of what makes them run... Materials, crank designs, fuel delivery.. Just a thought, :)
I'm about to get a Vulcan S and my dealership here in ft worth said that they charge for the "ergo fit" now but they didn't when they first came out... He said Kawasaki changed that "free" service because there was a problem with their parts people not picking up the parts monthly or some shit... I was like what!? That's one of the big selling points for this bike...that you fit the rider at purchase time... I told them that's not fair and it's false advertising and why would it matter anyway if you are taking the brand new seat back?? What's the difference...if someone comes in and wants the mid reach setup they don't have to pay but cause I'm tall I do?? No. I guarantee you when I show them the cash this Christmas they better not charge me or i swear I'll walk right out of there over a seat and a rod hahaha
You can see if your dealership is on the "Preferred dealers list" on the KZ web site, if they are, then they are obliged to modify the Ergo Fit without charging you..

Shea is 4ft 11.. she's on the smallest setting for the pegs but medium for the seat & handlebars which is perfect for her.
