From my video description: (click on "more" under the video to open the full description box) What to Expect with the Great Horned Owls visiting: There is no way to know for sure. Owls do not build nests. They take over the nests of other birds (eagles, hawks, osprey, herons), and use a variety of other spots to nest. This is the owl's territory also. Eagles and Owls exclude their own species, but not one another, from territory. The owls are scouting nesting locations while in their courting period. Owls have been here since Season 1 when the cams first went live, so we will probably see the same behaviors as in the past. The owls will visit the nest, and the male will probably bring food gifts for the female. They did this on a regular basis last season. Will the owls try to take over the nest? That is a possibility, or they may choose a different nesting location. The eagles and owls are aware of each other. We watched M15 last season fly to the nest late at night and stay in it (or the nest tree). We shall see if he does the same this season, and if so, it will likely be closer to egg laying time when he starts. Whoever lays their eggs first will likely keep the nest. The eagles may try to remove the female owl if she lays eggs. It is a dangerous fight for all of them. Eagles are more likely to build another nest if they lose their nest or nest tree. The owls will find another nesting site if F23 starts incubation. F23 was first to lay eggs last season, with the owls starting incubation shortly after in the N2 nest in the W pasture. The N2 nest is no longer there. The owls will not be captured and moved, as some have asked about in previous seasons. The owls are formidable birds; however, an intruder eagle is a far more dangerous bird, IMO. The top reasons eagles go into care or perish are human caused issues: vehicle strikes, power line strikes, poisoning (lead, rodenticide, etc.). Fights with other eagles are far more common than fights with owls. Please try to keep perspective, and try not to worry about things that have not happened. I pray for a safe and successful season for all of the birds nesting on the Pritchett farm.
@androcat12 thank you for all the history between the owls & the eagles. I had no idea that the owls have been here since season 1. I started watching in 2017 w/E9. I'm kinda hoping the owls will find a tree with a hole in it lol. I totally agree that things could go badly this season, but am hoping for a peaceful one where no one gets hurt or killed. Thanx again.
Oh no, I wondered when the GHO's would show up!! I hope they find another suitable home for themselves! Thank you for your excellent coverage and explanations, Androcat. You're the best!!❤
@ananamous8867. YW 🙂. I was expecting them; we see them every season. As always, I pray they find a nesting site in the N end of the farm. They will be more safe there from the toxic commercial area. 🙏🏻💙
They sound like they are sending Morris code lol. Hope they don't get tooo comfy since they lost their own nest. Hope everyone stays safe with hurricane Helene heading towards Florida.Thanx Androcat.
@boomerv7291. YW 🙂. Too funny! They do sound very cool. I love owls, and all birds. I hope they find a spot in the N part of the farm, away from the toxic commercial area. They eat mostly rodents, and I pray for their safety. Our eagles are also vulnerable to toxic prey; however, rodents are a very small part of their diet. 💙🙏🏻
Aww I feel so badly that GHOW were not blessed with the ability to build their own nests. I do hope they find another safe place to raise their owlets. Thank you Androcat for your excellent explanation. 💜🦉🦅💜
@PriscillaD225. YW 🙂. I plan to ask that very question one day when I reach the Pearly Gates. Why did you do the owls like that? 😉 Seriously though, I pray, like I do every season, the owls find a nest in the N end of the farm. I want them away from the toxic area. Their diet is mostly rodents, as you know from watching Bonnie and Clyde. 💜🦅🦉💜
GHOs are truly beautiful birds, with a call that penetrates deeply when heard...certainly with the loss of N2 they will be attracted to this beautiful nest that M15 and F23 are restoring. I hope they find a new place and there are no fights with the eagles: if N2 could be rebuilt for them, perhaps they could go back there and everything would be as it always was. Many thanks, Cat, for your beautiful video!
@Sandra-rx6xb. YW 🙂. There is definitely something magical about hooting. When I ride my bike near my local pair, I can feel the hoots. Barred owls have amazing vocals also. I think the N2 snag is so deteriorated, it would not be a good idea to put an owl platform there. There is no guarantee owls will use whatever is put up. Hopefully they choose a hawk nest. There are Red-tailed hawks here, and they often have more than one nest. We will just watch and see. In twelve seasons, everything worked out. I pray that continues. 🙏🏻💙
@annwilliams1073. I do not muffle the Cams traffic noise in my videos. On my ground videos, my camera mic picks it up and it sounds much louder. I remove audio (mute) from my ground video if I feel it is inappropriate.
I had forgotten about them until now. Hope they can find somewhere else. I too would like to know if Helene will affect the area where M15s and F23s nest is? I Truly Hope Not. Prayers for Everyone in Florida and Safe as Well.
@androcat12 Hopefully it won't be so bad it causes damage to their nest. Prayers for Everyone in Florida, Ya'll are Constantly in My Thoughts and Prayers that Each and Everyone of You Come Through This Safe! Are You on Florida?
@lindaadelwerth8042. Yes, I am here in Florida, which is how I visit the nest and record ground footage. I hope the nest will be fine. The eagles will do repairs/straighten it up after the weather clears up. Thank you for the prayers. 💙🦅💙
@shiraisrael-levin1651. The N2 nest remnants fell over the summer. There was not much left of it before the remaining sticks came down. th-cam.com/video/C3YAEd9dcd0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PLZzckJuTKSK8K_e
M15 and F23 have already been to this nest and have been restoring it. This nest belongs to the eagles and was built by M 15 and Harriet. Is M 15 aware of a takeover try? He better make it unpleasant for these owls to stay. He should sleep by the nest with F 23. or sleep in it. Can a second nest be man made for the owls a distance away? These cameras are made to see our eagles not owls.
@@androcat12 Thanks Androcat 12 I read the info. I would hope the eagles would fight for this nest. I for one would refuse to watch an owl nest, These cams are made for the eagles. I do not want to miss seeing these eagles. I do not think I am alone in this. Are M15 and F 23 strong enough to fight them and evict them? Or would another nest be built on Pritchett property for Our eagles if necessary? Cams would have to be moved if owls stay. I will never like these owls. They were so mean to M15 and his babies and then to F 23 too last year and to E23 .
@lois.mepstein5830 . We all want to watch the eagles, and that is what we are doing. For now, please do not worry about something that has not happened.

Well said. Thank you. ❤❤
Thank you! Totally agree, a safe and successful season for all the birds nesting there!
Thank you Androcat for your in-depth explanation. Explains a lot!! tysm❤

The owls are beautiful but this nest belongs to our favorite couple.
I love M15 and F23 more than these owls. Thanks for your video!❤
I really like the vocalizations of Owls, they are beautiful and sympathetic with all those soft feathers up to feet!! 🦉🎶❤️
@vanda6121. I love owl vocalizations also! And the long legs lol. 💙
So glad to see your complete coverage of this event! Always look forward to your videos , your contributions to these seasons are phenomenal!
@maragrose9562. Wow, thank you for your kind words! 🤗
Almost looks like he wants to move that log 😂
@DebiNorris-th9mc. Don’t we wish lol. 💙

Wholeheartedly agree.
I find their vocals very soothing. 🦉

While we love all birds, I do pray the owls will find another nest, and both M & F stake their claim. Thanks for the information Androcat
@LeicesterRose. YW 🙂. I pray they do also. 🙏🏻💙
Who doesnt want a free mansion? Life just dont work out that way, so get a move on you hooties 😅❤
Omg not again 😱 theses owls need to find their own space & nest 🙏🏻
@joanneiarossi6790. The eagles go through this every year. Not just these eagles, but all eagles. They all share territory.
Last yr They had lots of babies as I recall
@annwilliams1073. They had two last season, and three the season prior.
Oh goodness, they r back too😊
@annwilliams1073. Of course 🙂. It’s their territory. 💜
Beautiful
U have muffled traffic sound..fantastic

@lindaadelwerth8042. The nest is not in the direct path of the hurricane. The nest area is being impacted by bands of high wind/rain. 🙏🏻💙

What we did is lights to make it day light 24/7 then maybe they will go elsewhere 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@joanneiarossi6790. They would be illegal, and would disturb the eagles.
Don't they have a nest across from this one? they better not make themselves to comfortable on this one🤣
@judithc59. The remainder, which wasn’t much, fell. th-cam.com/video/C3YAEd9dcd0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hqn3gwuwq3TAZhOF
I can't hear them. They must not like using the other nest. The one they used last season. I know it's in bad shape.
