Kevin Von Erich became a family friend. We lost touch over time. My parents organized a wrestling show at my school with MWF. Kevin showed up, as well as Kamala, Junkyard Dog, Paul Orndorf, and Honky-Tonk Man.

Greg's Uncle was a Freebird. Buddy Robert's used to wrestle as Dale Valentine, Johnny Valentine's tag team partner, and storyline "brother". That would make Greg The Hammer, Robert's nephew, by virtue of Kayfabe..

Much respect to Ric Flair but I learned and emulated the figure four from Greg "the Hammer" Valentine as a kid watching WWF in the mid 80's. Im glad both of these legends are alive and well.

Yes he tells it like it is but with kindness to. You could see he has a genuine respect and love for his peers, and today that seems to be a lost art.
I was a little kid in Charlotte when Greg left for WWF. I cried like a little kid.

As a kid in the 80s I learned the figure four from the Hammer. Much respect to Ric Flair but the NWA wasn't as mainstream in the early cable days so I was only aware of him.
I’ve been tearing through these interviews and it seems you have to really work to get the Hammer to say a bad word about someone. And the dude is wrestling technician

Always thought he was underrated. A great bad guy. I've seen some of his interviews, seems like a gentleman. Not bitter like a lot of the old guys. Doesn't have much bad to say about anyone.

I would have love to meet the Von Erichs. Excellent athletes. I work for an agency that represents a few wrestlers. A few years back a client was at a wrestling convention. He introduced me to Marty Janetty. We all go for drinks. We get separate bills. We're all grown men. Marty ducked out on the bill. He beat a $67 check with tip. Then client and I looked at one another like is this real? What a scumbag. I paid the bill.
@Frank Burjan I suppose it's a great story now. But at the moment I was a bit irritated. All receipts are handed in when I use the company credit card. The clients Bill normal, a meal and 2 drinks. Same as mine. Marty's were all shots and a beer. Another wrestler we saw later that day, Tony Atlas, said "oh y'all took Marty out? He beat y'all so he can have some rock money".. I laughed as the way he said it was hilarious. I didn't know Janetty smoked crack.
@Frank Burjan yes you were correct. At the time I worked for Bill Behrens. Google him. I told him what happened. He said I'm going to tell you right now which WWF superstars or fallen Stars not to go out with.

@Frank Burjan I don't know. But he's a user. I can't say what his choices are. Idk. He name dropped my former boss Bill Behrens at a motel where We had represented clients staying to get a free room. He told the front desk to bill the agency. Those dumb dumbs did it. Unbelievable
Funny Greg said Kerry fucked up his own finish. In Ric's book, when he talked about their famous match after David died, Ric said: "Why give Kerry some elaborate finish? He'll just screw it up anyway." So they went with something similar to what Greg was talking about.
Damn I love The Hammer, not just because he reminds me of my childhood events, but now he reminds me of my sMother In Law.

I am pleasantly surprised to see Greg. I could have sworn I saw/heard a news report saying he'd died back in the early 2000s. Glad I was wrong on that.
I have spent the last 2 years reading and studying the Von Erich Family. There is a ton of silent from Kevin he tells nothing. Do you realize if Kevin would tell all he could write a New York Times Best Seller.
I dont think he’s all there. Too many concussions make him believe his own Kayfabe stories.
He's been through more than most men could take. He sometimes seems to be very aware of the facts of his family's history and sometimes in denial of it, which is very understandable. We all do what we can to get through the night. I'm not sure he'd ever write the book that throws his dad under the bus, or any of his brothers.
@@TerryKeefeMedia that is spot on and I could not agree with you more. I grew up worshipping the Von Erichs in the ‘80’s. Kevin is loyal to his family to a fault. I think to his detriment. He should open up about all the scandals, if only to serve as a warning to others the dangers of drug abuse, depression, and suicide. I really think he could prevent others from going down the same dark path that his family has experienced. Talking openly and honestly about his experiences would do so much towards forgiving himself and set him on the track to true healing.

Greg is a great guy - love his kind assessments.
Greg is a professional. He took alot of pride in his in ring performance minus all the other hoopla that is part of the business now. He had the nickname too that fit the business "The Hammer." Beefcake was okay, more comical actually, I mean it was wrestling, how tough can you come off with a name like Beefcake calling yourself "The Barber." I know they had some loser loses hair matches in the heyday even in Vince vs. Trump with their representatives at wrestlemania, but it was wrestling aka tough guy competition not Barber College. Oh well, the Honky Tonk Man didn't sound all that tough either but I guess that worked for awhile.
I wonder if that match can be found on TH-cam?

His son was full of himself. I work for an agency that represents a few wrestlers. I met Scott at the same Wrestling convention I met Marty Janetty. These guys no longer in the pros are very lost. Marty beat the $67 bill when we went for drinks and Scott was so full of himself you'd think you were talking to Ric Flair
Vonerics they were so good for wrestling cuz they were so mysterious, Kevin is awesome. I stayed down there other than that not the greatest because I'm from Baltimore.....

Discus Punch. Kerry had been a star high school athlete in the discus and it was incorporated into his wrestling. Move never looked that great, though. Never did it very smoothly, that I ever saw. His drop kick was fantastic though.
Getting kicked in the face or having a toenail in your eye by Kevin doesn't sound fun.
I heard Kevin was stiff and wasn't smootb as David or Fritz.
Lol Kevin was my favorite. He had me convinced it was real!

So dang good! Adams may have been one of the most talented to come through wccw, his ring science was elite.

Some guys have a great memory for the events of their career, Cornette being one of them, but Valentine's not one of them. For example, the match with Kerry, for the Missouri State title, didn't come off anything like he says.
I've watched the match recently and I don't remember any botched finished but maybe I'm wrong
