When the Von Erich's mom passed away I sent Kevin a direct message telling him I had recently lost my mom and tried to send his some encouragement.
He DM'd me back and told me "A great yesterday is a good sign for a great tomorrow."
Dude just lost his mom and took a minute to try and cheer me up. Class dude. I'm glad he has stuck it out despite all ghe tragedy he has endured.
I lost my mom 3 yrs ago seems like yesterday
@@juanroman2036 Nothing like the loss of mother. Mine has been gone 8 and a half years. I think of her every day. Godspeed to your family brother..
Thank u WV dc area 💪
He texted me too! I was so amazed, i didn't even think to save it. Beautiful Person. Precious Family. God Bless The Von Erich's. 💙
When Kerry and them was alive the parents was still alive
Von Erich Freebird War. BEST OF ALL TIME HANDS DOWN!!!
Absolutely.
NO DOUBT
@@anthonyskrobul3726imma just Kiab I remember Kevin and Kerry from the wwe game 😂😂
Kevin’s physique was awesome.
Kev is really loved! ❤
So great to see that Kevin is doing good, that man has lived through more grief than most of us will ever know
The Von Erich's were the best. I remember being 12 living in Grand Prarie Texas watching World Class Championship Wrestling. Great Times.
I’m glad Kevin is ok! Sure he’s aged but he’s such a nice person! You can tell he really misses his dad and brothers!
Yes He Is Respect And Prayers To The Von Erich Family
Aged?? He looks great for his age🎉
He had brothers they passed
Out Of 6 Boys Kevin Is The Only One With Us
Kevin Is A Really Nice Guy And Extremely Underrated As A Professional Wrestler A True Hall Of Famer
@@thelifeboxmediachannel is really sad they passed and Kevin didn’t
Well done Joe. That family along with several others built that sport.
I grew up watching his family wrestle back in the late 70s early 80s. Their matches were always very exciting and you looked forward to see what would happen next. RIP to his brothers they left us way too soon 🙏
I just started watching wwe again i remember them from 2018 I looked up Kerry to
I am very happy that Kevin is ok. He aged quite well.. He misses his brothers and Dad and his Mom.
Loved the Von Erichs!
Love Kevin!
Big part of my childhood!
Awesome interview!!! All the Von Erichs were my favorite wrestlers. Kevin was the barefoot wrestler.
🍍😎🤙🌴🥥🌺🌈
I was born in Dallas Texas in the fall of 1984.
I never got to see the Von Erichs in action, but with my grandpa I drove by the Sportatorium my entire life before it was demolished. I grew up watching Kerry in The WWF.
But to say the Von Erich family was huge in Dallas is an understatement.
When the cowboys were down in the 80s the Von Erichs were flying high.
I'm going to see the Iron Claw tonight.
It has been one of the highlights of my year to see the love and celebration and accolades that have been bestowed from all corners on the legendary Von Erichs, who really were the catalysts and avatars of the modern age of pro wrestling. I got to see Kerry, Kevin, David, Mike AND Fritz wrestle in person and they were truly BIGGER THAN LIFE. They weren't the best technical performers maybe and they certainly had their personal issues and tragedies that resulted, but they were true rock stars in their moment, especially Kerry who in my opinion is the most iconic professional wrestler of all time. LONG LIVE THE VON ERICHS!!!
World Class Championship Wrestling in its 1981-1985 prime was an amazing SHOW, from a production standpoint. It was bigger than big. Both the Championship Sports broadcast on Saturday nights (from Fort Worth) and the WCCW sunday broadcast on Channel 39 (from the Sportatorium) that played both in the morning and in the evening. EVERY week was must-see, can't miss TV entertainment.
Growing up in the 80's me my cousin and uncle couldn't wait for wrestling to start. I can remember after the end we would begin to wrestle in the living room jumping off the couch on one another. Thanks Kevin to and all your family and all the other wrestlers of that time. God bless
I remember going and watching them live. I saw Kevin once and Mike once at the trail dust in they were stand up guys. The Iron claw!!
Ya, Kevin should have been a big part of the movie. His input would make it real, plus he could correct the producer of things that are not quit right or something that was left out. 🤔
@MuzicTunes-lk6np Yes, like leaving Chris out entirely and combining his character & story with Mike's. Not only sad but a bit disrespectful for the Hollywood team to do that.
Loved watching the Von Erichs
He looks better than dark side ! Hope he is staying healthy
This literally put tears in my eyes. Haven't seen Kevin in decades. Guess I loved the guy a lot more than I realized. The memories came pouring in and overwhelmed me out of nowhere. Sheesh... I've been telling people for many years about how the Von Erichs laid the groundwork for what wrestling would become. I'm so glad they made the film and I hope it does them Justice.
brought back great memories❤this interview
I remember watching them at the sportatorium with my dad. Some of the best memories of my childhood. I'm 50 now and my pops is 71. We still talk about these days over a couple of good whiskey pours. I never watched much wrestling after the Von Ericks but I love watching old videos. So much nostalgia. Thank you for the best memories Kevin.
I was a big fan back in the 80's. thank you Kevin. you and your brothers have me so much joy.
I also went through sadness from the loss of your brothers. I'm so happy so here to tell us the
amazing stories from Texas. God Bless you and yours.
Great interview Pags. I remember watching WCCW Saturday nights on a little black and white TV in my room when I was a kid. Kevin was my favorite. His entrance song was Stranglehold by your buddy Ted Nugent!
Hollie & Lacey are Kerry's daughters, if ya didn't know. He trained Lacey, that's why she doesn't wear shoes either, as a tribute.
I'm sure there will be plenty wrong when they wouldn't even speak to Kevin about it
I used to talk to Kevin Von Erich all the time on Twitter Good Guy Good Dude
I love Kevin so much! I’m glad he is doing so good!
KEVIN was my neighbor for years. Our ranches butted up together. I still have one of his big Bulls offspring Bossman The Bull. Kevin and I went and watched Marshall his youngest son play football when he was in Jr. High.
I can't wait to see Zac's potrayal and the whole movieee.
Even though I didn’t grown up knowing anything about the von Erich’s ..untill I saw Kerry in the WWE…I love listening to Kevin’s story’s
I hope Kevin likes the way the movie turned out. I seen it twice already and honestly its the most horrifically beautiful movie ive ever seen!! I absolutely loved the movie and i hope Kevin lives a long happy life!!! Bless you and your family sir🙏
So tired of Hollywood disrespect thank u kevin and the von erichs
I remember i watched them in the 80's and the best time when i was 16 birthday was awsome i got to meet kevin, chris adames, and all the good guys. That made my day😊. I miss them all bless this family this was the best times of my life.
Having grown up in the small Texas town (at that time) Beeville TX, I grew up on pizza inn and the von Eric's. God bless him and his family. Thank you for your sacrifice.
My dad was a huge fan was of the von erchs and watch all there matches while i was growing up which is why i know alot about them he was sad when they passed
Let Kevin speak. Stop interupting.
Many years ago, Gary Hart who worked for the Von Erich’s many years and who came up with a lot of the creativity that happened then and there had possibly the best line about the Vin Erichs.
“The story of The Von Erich’s isn’t a story, it’s a serious warning”.
I can't believe that Gary Hart is all but forgotten. He was such a gift to wrestling. What a great mind for the business.
Way to go Kev!!
Amazing man! God Bless Him
I grew up west of Dallas in a little town called Bowie Texas. We watched them whenever you were on.
As a kid growing in 80s and 90s .i was a fan . truly unfortunatel what happened to family .make me wonder how kevin survived when other got caught up in drugs and suicide .
Going by the trailer, they are going to make his dad emotionally abusive. Sorry Kevin. Hollywood is pure evil. And it's ridiculous that zack hasn't contacted you when he's trying to make this his breakout "serious" role.
JFC HE WAS ABUSIVE
I saw the movie. They don't paint him that way. He comes across as very stubborn. And perhaps irresponsible at times. But never abusive. I
@@reviewbomb85 telling your kids he has a favorite is pretty inexcusable. Abusive?
Fritz Von Erich was the Iron Claw during the 60s. I think Kevin resembled Fritz the most out of all the boys.
I think David looked the most like Fritz.
@@frednugent2310 I think Kerry resembled him the most lol.
I used to watch their TX show from the Sportitorium every weekend on satellite dish. I enjoyed the VE’s and their feuds with the Freebirds, Chris Adams, and Gino Hernandez (anyone remember their Haircut Match?)
Yes.
Great interview.
Great interview
I remember I was in junior high and one day I was sick and stayed home and I turned on the tv and it was on and forget the name, sports channel though and it was 1pm and von Eric and karry was wrestling some people I don’t know who they were but the Freebirds were helping them out and wow I had to see more so every week my friends and I used to sneak out and go to my house just to watch the show is awesome well until I got caught. My mom came home early for whatever reason I don’t know but yeah I got busted hard-core for that boy those were the days
Heard Ric Flair say how much he loved these guys and he said what a great kid Kerry was, and he loved working with him
Glad to see Kevin doing well. Grew up watching WCCW and loved the Von Erichs.
We are all excited for Iron Claw!
The free birds vs the Von Erich’s great feud.it’s a shame that so much tragedy hits one family
I remember moving to Texas from Florida as a child. I was always a huge wrestling fan, and to go from Dusty Rhodes to the Von Erich brothers was like never missing a beat.
I went and watched them in Muskogee Kevin was the only von Erich there when you watched them on tv he looked small to Kerry and David but he walked right by me going to the ring he was a big dude
Kevin is a class act, hands down.
I got lots of questions. Kevin says the director of the movie called him and 2 of his boys and Holly went on the set. Also Lacey has talked about someone reaching out to her. I’m just wondering if they tried and maybe Kevin disagreed with something the film makers were doing and decided not to be involved because he’s on the compound in Hawaii!
Hes super nice! Like him even better now
Always find it funny his first match ever was against another rookie who would become a major heel forevet in another territory. The guy being "Playboy" Buddy Rose
Dat's friggin awsum! (Carl) yeah... Great Northwest Wrestling. My dad did time with buddy Rose in Clark county jail. That guy was loved by all the inmates and guards even. He'd give out commissary to the indigent inmates. He'd jump off the upper deck onto everybodys mats stacked up 3 high 5 across. Lol. Slide in the plastic beds down the stairs.= Those were like cots for when the jail was full and no more bunks. So they had these "boats" that's ud stick your thin little mat in to sleep under the stairs or next to toilets.
... Yeah. Clark county jail fn' sux!!!! Even for jail
I hope you can interview Kevin after the movie Iron Claw has hit the theaters
I didn't know much about any of the Von Eric's except for Kerry until recently, such a tragic story yet interesting. They all seem to be good enough guys, we're all young and wild once. I wish Kevin and his surviving family members the best!.
Was Kevin wearing shoes during this iterview?
Probably not. There is a YT story where he is talking about his family. He is walking on his property and even climbs a tree while completely barefooted.
My first exposure to Kevin was a TBS match against a heel Jimmy Snuka and he kicked out of the Snuka splash and proceeded to apply the iron claw on Snuka and was about to win before Snukas tag team partner Terry Gordy interfered. This was during the Michael Hayes-Terry Gordy feud. Also Kevin was wearing boots in this match. Instantly became a fan.
👍
I hope he comes back to Houston! Wish I would've seen this sooner.
We Covered The Movie Oh My Gosh WOW A Must See
God Bless Kevin And His Family Yes Please Thank You God AMEN
When I was a kid, we'd rather had been a Von Erich than Superman. And Kevin was my favorite.
I'd I'd like to see part 2 Iron Claw narrated by Kevin
His mid air drop kicks were the best! = He'd grab opponent behind the head, legs up on their legs , then fly off while drop kicking dude. " NEW DAY" does that today, but not as well
Ric Flair said that working with Kerry and David was smooth, but Kevin was stiff. He said you could tell he was a football player, because he would hurt you.
LOL. They made a cease fire for an hour to watch the Von Erich boys.
I new a man named Coen Raad Rood who lived in White Oak Texas. He was probably the biggest of the Von Erich family that I've ever known. What's interesting is that he was a Holocaust survivor.
In stead of talking about the news or sports next day did the Von erichs won
Kevin had dinner with Efron day before the Premeir in Dallas. It was reported that Kevin wanted the movie to show the love of the Brothers, and it does exactly that. I just have to add though, I hope he is right about his father, abused (mentally as well) children love their parents and are protective of them.
I don't know if its true, but in the movie, after checking out the books of the money draw at the Sportatorium, Kevin had to ask Fritz for the money to provide his family with a bigger home. 🤷🏾
How can they leave Chris out when his suicide was first and possibly sparked the others to do the same.
That is a critical piece to leave out.
I guess there's different underlying causes. I know Kerry, between losing his' brother, the accident, & wife leaving had all he could.
And going to prison
Poor kid 😭😭😭
The Barefoot Wonder and his brother Kerry were the best
I always rooted for the freebirds!
Kevin was a God, it's hard to see Him as an old Man.
Nobody escapes father time.
how had no one from the studio ever talked to Kevin? it's baffling.
Pretty sure it's standard practice
@@chrischar9428, standard practice to not talk to the only person that was actually there when everything happened? Really?
@@phil-1115 yes. Really
@@chrischar9428, Strange. Marcus Lutrell was the "Lone Survivor" and not only did he have the final say so in everything in the movie, but he was also in the movie.
The movie "Walking Tall" was about the life of Sheriff Buford Pusser. He was completely involved in making the movie and he was suppose to star as himself in part 2 but died before it was made.
I am sure I could go on and on if I do some research. It doesn't seem like "standard practice" unless your goal is to make a fictional movie that is not about what really happened.
@@phil-1115 good for them
Well if he was such a great Dad there has to be something to 3 of 5 brothers killing themselves. I know David was an accident but Brody flushed drugs.
The movie portrays his dad as a narcissist in all honesty. I used to watch them on Wrestling at the Chase.
Von Erichs were totally miscast. U got Lip from Shameless playing Kerry for God's sake.
The question is it's FAKE there's nothing fake about the Wrestling Business if your not in shape u will get hurt the only reason it became the way it did was because Vince McMahon Jr said it's sports entertainment and why he said it was Vince did want to pay the 25 million dollars in entertainment tax that's how it was started I've done the training it far worst that football there's nothing fake about the Training
Nice run on sentence
Thats alright. of there's something in that movie that's not fair or true...sue their pants off Kevin.👍🇺🇲
Yeah not how real world works
Actually, the movie was "inspired" by a true story. It was not a "true" story. Once they add the word "inspired", they can do anything they want in the movie and not be sued.
Kevin said after seeing the movie that he wants fans to remember that it is just a movie.
The movie didn’t get it right.
I am the type of person who likes to watch the world burn so I illegally stream every movie and show as to not put any money into the executives wallets but I will pay to watch this movie. I am excited to watch it.
Ive seen the movie. Oddly Zach got more JAcked than Kevin ever was... I thought he was playing Kerri
Nice dentures!
Can't believe they wrote one of the brothers out of the movie. Can't believe they hired a 5'8" actor to play a 6'2" athlete. Can't believe Zac Efron messed his face up by abusing Human Growth Hormones to play a wrestler in a movie.
Jeremy Allen White looked NOTHING like Kerry.
Zac Efron shattered his jaw so that contributed to his weird looks
@@theroamingokie5438 When I saw Zac, I immediately thought, Human Growth Hormone, as he has that look. Look at any Pro athlete who also has a shattered jaw. There have been a few boxers and many pro hockey players with the same injury. They all had their jaws wired shut while it heals, which you never hear him talk about in his interviews. All of their faces look completely normal after it healed as having a shattered jaw doesn't change the overall structure of your bone. Example: Jeremy Roenick. Then look at athletes who abused human growth hormones and notice how they all have similar features like Zach and his jaw. Human growth hormones will thicken your jaw as a side effect, along with other facial features. Zac is only 5'8" and wants to be as big as possible. I could be wrong, he only knows.

Well , you did not make it, you didn't grow up to be strong like them, but its OK cause you gotta face for radio and can carry a tune 👍👍👍
Loved seeing the Fabulous Freebirds kick the crap out of the Von Erichs every week on WCCW.
Badstreet USA!
I watched the Iron Claw. Great movie but not exactly spot on. How you leave out a brother was a little upsetting. I don't want to be a Karen but especially the love of family, you can't leave a brother out???
Did you see the directors comment
@@chrischar9428, I saw the comment, but it seemed like B.S. to me. You are already showing the death of the others. One more is going to be too tragic?
They made Fritz look like an evil SOB.
@@phil-1115 that and he also said that the stories were similar
@@phil-1115 no fritz did that
This interviewer talks so much bullshit!
The movie will not be any good
It was very good
It was good, but it was a "movie". It wasn't a true story. Only "inspired" by a true story.
The Von Erichs are texas wrestling. If there was a mt rushmore for texas.. Theyd need 2 one for the von erichs and one for the Free Birds and Terry Funk
Great interview.
