I've tightened the screws but my handle is still loose and wobbly. Same on all my windows, they are 20 years old. Is it likely that the recess for the spindle has worn?
Hi Andrew sorry to hear you are having problems, yes what you are suggesting may be the problem.I am not sure but if you take the handle off completely and try putting in a plug that fits and then try screwing the handle into the plugs. It may help.Cheers
Thnx. You can try putting some small pieces of wood like the non lighting part of a matchstick.Place a few small pieces in the hole and see if the screw can get a grip, best wishes to ya
Mine started off wobbly like that but this morning the handle came off in my hand. Screws no longer tighten. Could it be that they've threaded or could it be something to do with the holes?
Hi Stevie have you looked into the holes with a torch. You could try plugging the holes with something and see if the screws can get a grip and tighten cheers
What do I do if the idiot who lived here before stripped one of the screws? Top one is great and tightens just fine, can't do anything with the bottom one at all
@@dearhyo one more potential solution is to wedge some small piece of wood or several matchsticks with the flammable end cut off into the hole and see if a screw will take grip cheers

Take the screws all the way out, put matchstick or toothpick in the hole and put the screws in.
Good video, any thoughts on what to do if the one of the screws wont tighten, just keeps spinning 😮

can you find a plastic plug which will fit into the hole and then put a screw in it to see if it holds, good luck
