It's so exciting to see someone genuinely trying new things instead of sticking with what they know. Austin, you might not feel like you deserve the notoriety or subs, but we really admire your drive and willingness to push yourself in various genres. You inspire me to try new things and develop new passions. I really appreciate your content, and I hope that I can instill that feeling in others.
Game Austin looks like Austin when he was making Sprouting Orchids. That mean we're gonna get a Sprouting Orchids video game eventually? I'd pay for that and the full movie.
I mean, Orchids have a pretty generic alien-invasion-end-of -the-world plot, with more accent on human emotion and interaction, which is reasonable for a low-budget indie flick. So most of the sets and decorations would be modern day, and thus easy to find pre-made. But at the same time, using computer graphics and animation instead of live action, it's possible to create something more action-y and cinematic. To sum up - Orchids seems like a perfect idea for someone's first-time video game: indie, short, story-driven, with simple plot and easy (or at least on the easier side) to make.
Sweet dance moves lol. So apparently one of my toddlers subbed to you and hit notifications and I am not disappointed lol. I love your channel. So I shall thank my twins ha ha
I'll forever be impressed by Austin's tech skills as someone who recently started learning how to edit and does not understand my editing software at all. 😂
I like Austin because he helps me realize just how possible it is to be creative. It can seem so intimidating to start a project, but watching this guy mess around with creative tools both reassures and inspires me.
I’ve been watching your channel for about a week and in that time I have watched every one of your videos, they are so great and interesting in their own unique way.
Honestly I love that they were like “here man let’s show you it doesn’t suck, and we’ll pay for the episode.” And I also love that Austin’s so cool about being told he did it so, so wrong and that he should retry.
"Do you ever see somebody, like, way more creative than you, and way younger than you and just think: 'What have I done with my life?'" Yep. Absolutely.
Dude, I was so focused on how quickly you developed your character and animated it, that you broke me when you started dancing XDDDDDDDDDD I died. I love Austin's sense of humor man.
One thing that makes games cool is immersion. Would it be interesting to try to make a short woodland/nature walk and experiment with the sound design and lighting, as well as character animation? :) Love your stuff Austin
I have no idea why, but TH-cam has stopped recommending me your videos, even though I’ve been subscribed for a long while. I’m glad I found you in the comment section of David Lynch’s weather report
That 'hack thing' was what we call a compiler. It's just the computer putting together code and removing the ones that are not to be used. I liked this video, and as a user of Unity, I will want to finish my video game before you.
that dance sequence make me remembered the practice test for my art & culture study where we need to do pop culture dance for our research, we picked "gangman style" (it was like 2012 or smt) teacher gave us 3 weeks to practice but we never did it even once and when our name got called up we just stare at each other and gave up, then dance ourselves to the rhytm, like a bunch of worms exposed to a sunlight
A quote from my instructor. "I made you do things the hard way so if the faster tools fail you then you wont be helpless". One thing in particular is that my instructor did not teach us anything about substance painter and made us texture our uvs in photoshop
After that she showed us substance painter which greatly improved our workflow but there were times where it failed or students did not have acsess to it so we har another option to fall on
Hi, I took a year of game arts here, to answer your question, sort of, about if this is faster than normal. Not anymore! Of course you can create all your assets from scratch using maya or something similar, or blender. But game making software have so many shrotcuts to make things fast and look nice these days, you can finish a whole level’s build (sans fine-tuned coding) in like a day.
from someone who took a full college course in Game Design and development, this would have made my life so much easier.. creating a character like that through the unreal engine takes DAYS to do. and it seems like you just did this is what looks like 2 hours.
Suggestions for what I'd like to see you do: How about you go back to your original idea from the animated video in 48 hours and now that you're more well versed with the program actually finish the original story you came up with and add any other story elements you may have come up with since then. You can make it into a short 10-15 min film and release it on your youtube channel as a video. It might take a few weeks but hey! That's why we have quarantine right? Lol
Dude, this video is great!! I would love to see how well you do with making a short and quick game with it. And a quick cutscene. Idc if it's crude, just would be great to watch. Oh, and another 48 hours to do it in. Unless you need to code, then I literally suggest any and every game coding youtuber that exists, cause, you're not coding anything in under 48 hours without extensive knowledge.
Man, austin. What do you not do? I love your videos though. I either want to pursue a career in video development or game design. Or not. I may just work with my dad for the rest of my life. Either way, I love what your videos have taught me, like how to make movies or fight a bear
The problem I have with this, is that tech demos don't give you a good idea of how easy the software will be in "production". What I want to see is how difficult it is to fix problems when they come up. Let's see how easy it is to fix a z-fighting textures ... or a character's cloths glitching through their hair ... or the program crashing ... or any number of other problems. That's what was great about your previous video. When you are trying to make a finished product you can't just focus on what's working right, you also have to decide what to do (or not do) about what's broken.
I wish more people would answer the question of “what should I do with the rest of the video?” with “let’s do a dance party.”
Life would be so much simpler
"Let's do a dance montage"
U right
The dance parties will take over TH-cam.
let me tell you about a little company named Dreamworks

yes
You think that's his master plan all along
actually, he used all of the tools as intended, I guess with just importing a model there isnt much to get wrong though...
Austin seems to be going for the title of TH-cam's Jack of All Trades. He deserves it.
Check out atomic shrimp, he does a lot of different things
IRL Bard
for sure
He will have the best stories to tell his kids.
Jack of All Trades. Master of None.

well, I guess he decided to dance
It was SO worth it. 😂 😎
I died laughing when he started dancing. Love this video.
Thanks for your patience while I've worked on stuff! I really appreciate your continued support.
