You said it John! I'm the same as you. Things are so surreal now. Most music is so ugly and vulgar I cringe when I hear it. I keep thinking of the Peggy Lee song from 1969--"Is that all there is"-- kind of sums it all up for me.

No. Don't say that. IF, we get a grip on our current generation and TEACH them the fundamentals, the virtues of love and respect again and a bit-or- two of history, maybe we can bring this sound back. I play this song and you can't stop the kids from dancing and asking, "who is this? A lot of them know Ronald Isley from the "R.Kelly" generation but not from his association with Motown or Jimi Hendrix. These are "The Isley Brothers". Do our kids know of a young pianist that sat in with the band for some gigs over in England. A young man later known as Elton John. As Bernie Mac said "we the punk- ass parents" if we let our kids go the wrong way while we suppose to be teaching them. I know what Bernie was saying, but it's also a fact that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him do the backstroke. If they drive off a cliff after that, well, that's on them. I simply ask the younger generation, what kind of music would you play if yo' mama was next to you in the car? We can only ask the question. From the answer, our work continues.

Our youth is the most magical time of our lives. Sadly, it is mostly wasted, for being young, most of us (not all) don’t understand just how precious our youth is or how fateful our choices are.
And that however much we may do in future to mitigate some poor, rash or immature choices, we never get the time back. That’s why it is important that we try to guide our own young (children, nephews and nieces, grandchildren etc) with as much wisdom as we can.
But will we be anymore successful with them than our own parents and respected elders were with us? Ah, the eternal cycle of life …

Because a massive amount of folks are still visiting this video - which is one of the six mosogotam tracks with more than 5M (5000) views - and the fact that there have been no new videos uploaded in four years, this is a courtesy post to let you know that the owner of this channel, mosogotam, whose real name is John Perrone, sadly passed away from COVID-19 on April 5th, 2020 - tragically, he was one of the very early victims of the virus. John was an absolute creative genius for this and all the other wonderful tracks he created! While his death at 70 is a tragedy and we won't get any new productions from him, he still managed to leave us with a goldmine of material to enjoy for years to come - what a gift! John, may you rest in peace.

I was introduced to Soul and Motown in the 60's. I had never met a black person being from a small place in the North of England, but they were my heroes. I used to travel to a venue (Highland Room, Mecca, Blackpool) aged 15 and managed to get in although I don't remember looking 18. I lived for those nights. I am now on my own and locked down with this modern day plague, and listening to my heroes keeps me sane, long may this music thrive.
