Apart from the fact that they are all phenomenal singers, I am also impressed with their intelligence and eloquence as demonstrated in the interviews. Rest in peace.
I remember watching this wonderful program when it was broadcast during the 1960s. I think it was probably 1966 or 1967, perhaps someone reading this can tell me which year.
Were any of them singing roles in this that weren’t part of their repertoire beforehand? Wondering specifically about Mildred in Lucia and Charlie in Meistersinger.
Hello! I don't know if Hines sang Sachs in his career, but Sutherland in Tosca is the more evident out of her repertoire (on stage she sang only one Puccini role: Suor Angélica). BTW, Charles Anthony sang both Lucia and Meisgersingers in the Metropolitan, as Miller, who also sang there Magdalene in Wagner Meisgersinger.
A treat! Thank you.
Gorgeous singing!! And even more spectacular the hair style! The '60 hairspray at its best 🤭
Wigs, hairpieces.
Rest in Peace all of them.
👏❤👏
The greatest. Bravi.

Merci !
Sutherland sings the perche signor...like it is indicated in the score! Longer phrase with the high note at the end of it...making it much harder.
Sentir cantare così è un'autentica goduria

@@paulleitkowski8219 Thank you!
So wonderful to hear the quality of singing that no longer is available ……I am fortunate to have seen all of these singers live onstage.
Never thought I would see this program in its entirety. Thank you. 🙏
@@roberttartaglia1715 Yes you are.
