This will not work. You'll only generate about 6 volts at a very low current. Not enough to even slightly warm the filament by a degree I'm guessing. If you had 500 potatoes in series then you might have a chance of lighting an incandescent bulb. Sadly the writers of Anne with an E have been fooled by disinformation. The experiment as set up... with copper/zinc embedded in each potato and connected in series (like a train)... should be able to light a tiny LED component (as opposed to an LED mains light which won't work).
ikr i remember once in High School we had a Science assignment that it was doing an eco friendly group project. The teacher told us that we weren't going anywhere with the project we were doing and that it did not helped the environment whatsoever so we had to change it two days before the fair and we did this potato project because it was the easiest and quickest thing we could think of . Off course it didn't work but we didn't fail thanks to the written part and the power point presentation.

Okay, I have many points to make Anne is very smart not a know-it-all she is very highly intelligent for age and for a female back in that time. Also the fact how she grew up and how she learned it all is amazing. Is she trying to impress the teacher not really. She's stating what she knows and trying to make a point. Also, she's not jealous of Gilbert she doesn't want him to leave. Although she hasn't admitted feelings for him she does love him, she always has. With them being friends at this point she's afraid to lose what they've have given that she's lost so much already. Even in the books after she and Gilbert are married she still questions whether he loves her anymore. And psychologically, and she uses her Imagination and her intelligence to as a coping mechanism for all she's been through. Does she get jealous at some points in the series yes but everyone does. She's a much bigger person especially with how she deals with Winifred and Gilbert's situation later on. Most adults can't even begin to understand how impressive that is. She even says early on in the series that she wants someone who is her equal, who is her partner, and who loves her the way she loves him. she found that in Gilbert.
