OK, a very summarised "executive overview" of the history of the old and new war. Spoilers for people who haven't gotten this far yet of course, but if they're watching this video presumably they're OK with that :) Old War: (a long time ago) The Sentients (made by the Orokin, hence they refer to them as the "Makers") go to war with the Orokin. The Tenno control the Warframes (made by Ballas using research from Margulis, his lover) to beat the Sentients back, but after the Tenno win the war for the Orokin, they turn on their masters and end the Orokin dominance, which leaves the "bios" (humans) to fight over the origin system which results in the Grineer and the Corpus factions. Natah is a Sentient who has the ability to 'mimic' sentient lifeforms, she's basically made to take over someone's identity, an infiltrator. She takes over Margulis' identity with instructions to either win the Tenno over for the Sentient cause or destroy them, but due to Margulis' memories she cannot bring herself to do this and instead hides the Tenno on Lua in the Void for a very long time (in the order of hundreds of years). That all happened way before the game starts. When you start the game, that's the moment you start waking up, and after you finish the Second Dream you're fully awoken. New War: (in the present) The Sentients come back for another try to take over the Origin system and under their influence Natah who has forgotten most of her "Natah" memories starts to remember everything regarding the Old War and her original identity again. Hunhow and Era try to win her back to their side but as you just saw she is... conflicted, confused, and torn between her old Natah identity and her new Lotus identity. Meanwhile Ballas is basically all that's left of the once great Orokin race and, well, you saw what was left of him, they turned him half sentient and treat him like a slave, but keep him around probably because of his knowledge of the Warframes. And considering he gave you a Sentient slaying sword it's tempting to think he's on your side, but you know Ballas, do you trust him? :D That's the story of the Old and New War as far as you've seen it now in a nutshell. I won't spoil how it goes from there.
Small correction: Natah couldnt had her own children which in combination with impersenating Margalus driven her to adopt Tenno and go against her father's plan Also Corpus were a thing before the fall of the empire
@@addmen96 True, but why did Natah have such a strong desire to have children in the first place? They knew they would end up sterile before they left the Tau system for the Origin system. I am inclined to believe the strong desire for children came from Margulis' personality, after all, she is the only true 'bio' in the triumvirate. But of course there's a lot of room for interpretation when it comes to Margulis/Natah/Lotus, and intentionally so, there's not much room for plot twists like the New War if the leading character in that twist is completely carved in stone.
what never made sense to me is what was that one vision where ballas walks around and offers up the paracesis. it seemed as if he was fighting off the sentient that was taking over his body, rejecting it even. why is that ballas helping us. was this what was left of his humanity, was he not all that bad, even though he was. yet he helped us by offering up the sword and blocking his eye
@@crimsonkarma13you get the answer to this later on. It has to do with his ultimate motive but we kind of ruined his plan. We were always intended to use the sword to kill Natah/Lotus but that's all I'm saying for now
@@AnComZharptitza yup. You're right. From Wiki: "The Paracesis is not required to start The New War, despite initially appearing on the Warframe's back even if the player doesn't own one or did not equip it prior to starting the quest. An unranked, unmoddable Paracesis is also temporarily given to the player toward the climax of the quest."
You dont need the Paracesis or the Shedu for the quest. But they are realy good weapons to build, level up and keep. The Paracesis does a fck ton of damage especialy to sentients, and applying 5 formas will increase its max lvl to 40. The Shedu is a self ammo replenishing primery with explosive shells. so ye, its a good idea to build them for endgame use.
Those of us who've been playing since at least the beginning of 2017 waited FOUR YEARS between the Lotus first abandoning us and New War. This is why the conversations my gamer buddies have regarding DE's developmental path/roadmap usually end with "Thank God Steve's not in charge of DE/Warframe anymore." Because now that Rebecca's in the saddle, there was only a two-year gap between New War and Whispers in the Walls, the latest major story-quest. So while I am relieved YOU did not have to wait that long (and pseudo-suffer like we did), I can't help but feel a twinge of envy that you're able to progress that much quicker, heh. I think this is further testament to how much Warframe veterans enjoy seeing people come to the game fresh. Sure, WE had to wait four years, and that kinda sucks, but look at you! Look at how much you're enjoying this game! We love that you're enjoying this game!
Awesome Vid DP! I would make sure to choose a single Warframe to stylize that for the new war and also make any appearance refinement to your operator for cutscene purposes! Tenno Drip!
You do need the sword to do the new war but if it hasn't been built they give you a built one for free. There's a lore reason for having it during this quest and the sword also overlevels to 40 with 5 forma. Long story short. Ballas and Erra need Natah to repower the giant starship they have as a mother to begin the end of the old war. They can't get her to do it willingly so they gaslight her and when it looks like it's not gonna work they force her into it and reveal they're working together.
@@TigraPolosatiy well it's not like Ballas couldn't just create a new one to trick Natah or he could have just literally rewrote her memories of what happened or a number of other reasons for the plot hole but until Erra gets a proper story ending we'll never really know. He's just stuck in story limbo with the archon hunts.
You're about 95% ready for a New war. At least the Necramech aren't a cause for concern. The only thing I'm not sure about is the Railjack's effectiveness. Otherwise, I think you'll be fine with your current gear :)
It's better not to craft Paracesis now. In the past you could only watch first prelude for free, then you had to craft Paracesis and then go into Railjack into Veil Proxima (which itself locked behind lvl 7 intrinsic skill), then you raid one of the sentients Murexes and they have red crystal which can be only breaked by Paracesis, then you finish mission and go back to orbiter and you unlock this 2nd cutscene - Erra. But because of high requirements they removed that, so that players can faster go to the latest quest. And Paracesis itself will be given during quest. So you could ignore this blueprint.
Hey DP! Last we saw, we mortally wounded Ballas during The Sacrifice, but Natah took him away and now we see that Ballas has been hybridized to be part Sentient. The setup seems like Erra is teaming up with Natah and they have Ballas on a leash, but did you notice that once Natah's memories started coming back, Erra seemed like he forced her to do, or to have done to her, [something]? Also Ballas smiled as if he knew [something] was about to happen to Natah. But earlier, why would he seemingly give us info on how to build the Paracesis, if it's such a powerful weapon? Are they all really working together? Who is really in charge? Is it Natah, Ballas, or Erra?
@@dpatriot4130NP! Also, just in case, but you don't need to build those new weapons for the New War - the Paracesis will be in the story but actually building it is just something you can do later on for post-New War gameplay (it's a great weapon). It used to be that you had to build it for the quest, but DE changed it so that it appears cinematically during the quest no matter what, and that if you want to play with it, then you can build it. Another example of how DE always takes feedback from the community to make the game better. 🎉
You do not need either weapons to do the new war however i suggest still building the sword, cant spell it sorry, for it is one of my favorites for now

They changed it. U now don't need to craft Paracesis. It will be auto crafted during the quest for u now.
So MR10 request is just a [placeholder] now?
ya i did it without it. i aint using 1k ducats on mr fodder

This was great advice. I think I’m going volt with electrolysis skin all dripped out and my operator also got a style upgrade. Appreciate this!
Make sure you got some snacks ready when you sit down and do the new war is going to be a long one 😂
