Love listening to this music. It brings back memories as a kid listening to the old records on my great grandmother's victrola.
I try to collect the lesser known stuff as well. There are always some gems hiding in those.
shilkret is always good, and scrappy is perfect on this one..a favorite...so twenties. good version of 'summer.." nice. ah, the joy of the jumping jacks..tom stacks!...fun. another favorite by the varsity eight...super version. another great reser recording...they make that tune move...super banjo by reser,and the joy of tom's voice.love it. always that great big open, swingy sound of the arden-ohman band...great selections. thank you.
Aces of the Twenties! Great! My own ranking includes on the first place Ballew & Meyer with their beautiful rendition of When Summer Is Gone, Reser's Lucky In Love is incredible, Shilkret's Glad Rag Doll has those wonderful arrangements of his, and Arden & Ohman with their virtouso make every song light and lively. Steamboat Bill is absolutely marvelous! I love all titles, but this one tops them all. Here in Europe it is so hard to find good American dance bands apart from the most obvious things. I love almost everything you post, because most of it I've never heard before.
