Hey guys I love watching your van build. I’m a plumber here in California and I wanted to recommend a couple of items. Use blue monster Teflon tape on all your fittings it works the best.For your Waterfill tube for your water tank use EZ-flow braided PVC tubing you can purchase it at Lowe’s in various sizes, it will give you a better seal with the type of fittings you’re using. Hopefully I’m able to help can’t wait to see your build completed. Tight lines.
Toilet paper works really good for finding leaks. Just fold a couple pieces up and wrap around the joint and it will instantly show if there's moisture or not. Also you should have a on-off for your water pump somewhere very accessible and not leave your pump on all the time only turn it on when using it. If you leave it on all the time and happen to be driving or sleeping or not in the van and a hose bursts or slips off or a leak start somewhere you will end up with a huge mess and water everywhere in your van because you weren't there to shut the pump off or you didn't hear it. So make sure that you don't leave that pump on except when you're using water. The two clamps at the filler neck is a good idea to stop the leak.
Be sure to spray paint anywhere you cut the body so that it doesn't rust out your underside. Especially if you ever plan on doing any winter driving in states that salt the roads.
Unfortunately I plumb for a living, I always tape my treads and then add just a dab of teflon paste on top and never have a problem, just make sure that when you wrap your tape you wrap in the same direction as the threads

Construction for 43 years- union- learned a lot from the different trades on the job. You're not going like those leaks on the road- threaded as much as possible with Teflon tape
Not a pro plumber just a DIY guy here. I suggest for the plumber putty kneed first, take more than u need , then flatten out and make a donut shape O-ring to your size. It gives you a continuous, no air pocket gasket. 🤟
Yep, also, use more than you'd think you'd ever need. You want the putty to squeeze out everywhere so there's no gaps. Just scrape off the excess after tightening everything down.
They are 10 litres.....We have them in Aus... Duoetto MK2 Digital Dual Voltage (12v/240v) ....12v (25A, 300W) and/or 240v (4.2A, 1000W) ..SO if you connected it to the Inverter it would warm up in around 15 min.....

I highly suggest two different water tanks. One recirculation water for shower with 10 gallon tank. You will be able to take 14 showers then wash out filter. The filter will have hair and dead skin cells. It goes through 3 different filterters. You can even filter lake or river water. It is just an idea. Do what ever u choose.
Seems like one of the best van conversions I’ve seen so far. I’m curious as to how much the final weight of these van conversions affect mileage and torque. They’re probably beast of engines
@@TaklyntheWorld The key to using tape is using a quality tape. Blue Monster PTFE thread sealant tape is the best. I use it for chemical, water, air, steam, and refrigerant piping at work. Be it metal or PVC piping, this tape works great.
Just thinking about it. After you guys are done building your van, you will never need to hire anyone to fix your house anymore. You guys will have the skills to do it. I need to start doing something like this.
I would leave those light wires, it’s good to have option “if” needed It’s more expensive , but quick connect joints are better , for replacing and fixing (I have it on my RO water system) What worry me is when traveling , all the bumps and vibration will cause leaks

But then separate heavy red/black direct to the fuse box? - Duoetto needs to do a better job in demos! Just like bluetti-great products but no use/installation vids.
I am installing the Duoetto in my electric car and I intensely crave one of those elbows right at the pressure relief connection. I believe the water heater expects a finger-tight face seal fitting. How did you get your similar elbow to work; is that just pipe dope and teflon tape on a tapering-threaded joint?
There's plenty of water filling places on the road since RVs are really popular. We're using a nature's head composting toilet. which seems really popular in other van builds.
Not a professional plumber or 100% sure but I think the plastic gasket you put on that made it hard to screw on was supposed to slide down the pipe before the metal nut you slide down. Vans lookin good so far.
I'm curious to know, by drilling the bottom of the van, would it disturb the integrity. Would there be any structural load concern? If not, was there any anti-rust paint applied? Anyways, great video, can't wait for it to be in action. 😊
Just wondering instead of plumbers putty on the shower drain would silicone caulk worked better? Isn’t there going to be a lot of flex in the shower pan ? , I’ve seen fiberglass pans and tubs were they used canned spray foam to stiffen under th pan .🤔

Not to bad. Plumbing ain’t as easy as it looks huh. With the Teflon, wrap it a minimum of 6 wraps. Wrap it from left to right if that makes sense, so that the thread doesn’t unwrap it. You can also use Teflon and pipe dope at the same time.
Butt connectors are just fine, with what he used, the water proof type. Im an electrician with 31 years of experience, Inside Wireman, work on boats and RV's. While some of his methods and installs are a bit cringy, its just fine.
When your out on the road your gonna be like why in the world did we get a pump silencer. We did. Carry a water pump for a river if you don't want a big tank:). We learned in one week everything is worthless without a big water tank
Hey Tyler, I need some help on the wiring of the hot water heater. I do not understand how the switch wires and the heavy gauged wires get wired. And can we cut off the 240 plug? Help! Did you wire the switch? Photos, verbal step by step-any deets please! There is absolutely nothing online.
@@MannyWC hmm. Did you get a water heater that used a 240 volt plug? That will not work as you need a DC or 120v water heater depending on how you setup

The on demand hot water heater runs on propane. It only needs a couple of D batteries to run the digital guage

And use a healthy amount of pipe dope you can always wipe off the extra mess.
You can also use Teflon tape and then put pipe dope on the top if you ever cant stop a leak my dad does that with gas pipe.
I think teflon tape only works on pipe threads.

Just add a second hose clamp to your fill tube, itll prob stop your drip
have you taklyn into account the plumbing in winter conditions? pipes freezing? salt erosion?
Now while on an adventure or driving distance how do you get water & bathroom wise but things are looking good would love me a travel ban as well

Putty is fine but you could always do both. Silicone on the outside.

The underside of your drain hole needs to be sealed, I would use a can of spray insulation. This will prevent rodents from getting in.

I think you could but it makes more sense to have it where we put ours but it probably depends on your layout.
the paste is not great as you need it to dry for a few days to harden. I believe you may not be putting enough wraps around the tape.

Why didn’t you use an on demand hot water system? It seems what your using is like an old style system that uses a lot more gas to operate.
Everything in the van needs to be battery powered. A tankless system would need 15-30kw, or about 5 times more batteries than they currently have.

what size tank did you start with? I am trying to decide get only one 28 over the wheel well or 2...
@@MannyWC One 28 will be plenty in my opinion, 90% of the time traveling you will be near a fresh water source to refill, before thats empty
