    Great music! Hints: Having been through so much rain and kilometers the headset may need re-greased and the other bearings checked for roughness. Bicycle chains wear out after 3000 km, measure the chain every month as it is cheaper to replace chains than the rear or front cogs.

      @OneGoodLeg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good advice! I've just had to replace my cassette, chainset, jockey wheels and chain because I let the chain get too worn. $$$

    Great advice! I always leave it until late before i set up camp, wild camping is generally not allowed in the uk, although i think its tolerated. Iv never had a problem. I think you're quite a awesome person tbh, a year on the road and documenting your journeys. Wishing you happy travels, Viel Spaß beim Reisen!

    You have to take care walking on dunes. (Not suppose to.) There are fragile, and you could get a fine for that. You can camp in "forêt communale" .

    It is so impressive and inspiring to see you doing this all on your own! To me this is absolutely brave and beyond brave!
    Are you planning on doing other essentials Videos?
    Like how often and where do you shower and wash clothes? How often do you need to go to a supermarket? Where else do you need to go regularly (sports market/Hardware store etc.)?
    How do you plan your tours? Do you ever need to use google maps or are road signs sufficient?
    How to avoid anything getting stolen? How to deal with electronic supplys when it rains?
    Lots of love and strength for cycling from germany!

      @giantcheerio  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you sooo much! Yes, I am planning more "How to" videos but this might take a little while as I am currently having a cycling interruption. I'll definitely create stuff about the showers and morning routine and all the daily stuff that is "normal" for me while being on the road.

    I'm surprised you get so many punctures. Do you use punture proof tyres like Schwalbe tyres? I think in forty years of cycling I have only gotten one puncture. You mentioned your diet. What I do when I go off is to take multi vitamins to make sure I get all the vitamins I need. I also watched a documentory on youtube about lentils. Red lentis have most of the nutrients a body needs to stay healthy. Lentils in the form of Dhal with bread is what millions of the poor of the world eat to sustain themselves. They are easy to carry as they don't spoil and cook pretty quickly. I do add vegitables to add variety. All the best from England.

    • @giantcheerio
      @giantcheerio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My tires were shitty, that's why I had to deal with all these punctures along the way. Im gonna use schwalbe tires now.
      And about the lentils, these are great and I really do love then for dinner! Yummi!

    Please don't kill me for this remark, but I was watching over and over 1:41 spot to evaluate the way you packed your spider rack, and at the end I noticed something different. IMHO your foot position indicates your saddle is too high. Note, I am not bike fitter, I simply injured my knee some time ago because of saddle height (I like it this way, unfortunately), but now, I am cautious. So, just a remark, I wish you good health and safe trips.

    I think your channel is great to promote cycling and inspiring the sheeple 🐑 to get their backside off the sofa and live.
    You're looking healthier too!
    I think you should drop your saddle by about 20mm as you look like you're sitting a little too high.
    If you like cycling in sandals, I believe Shimano do a SPD pair.
    Keep moving! 😉

    • @giantcheerio
      @giantcheerio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest: along the way I went to 3 different bike shops to ask them to drop my saddle BUT they didn't know how to and I also don't know up to now😅😅 its a special giant system or i dont freaking know and I even googled for instructions but i didn't find any and at one point I just stopped searching and got used to the saddle position :D

    • @nobgross4113
      @nobgross4113 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@giantcheerio What!!!??? Three bike shops can't alter saddle height???
      Remind me to open a bike shop on the continent! 😳
      I'm not sure what bike you've got, but take a look at this, it may help:
      th-cam.com/video/MWmJ5ts6LNE/w-d-xo.html
      Seriously, drop your saddle. You'll feel the improvement immediately.

    Just recently found you channel as I am a weekend cycle camper here in Ireland. Love all your videos and I find my camping spots much the same way you do. I am also a minimalist and try and keep the amount of gear that I take with me to minimum. With my zero carb lifestyle my food has become so so simple and sustaining for the trips.

    • @Cryr213
      @Cryr213 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, What do you bring to eat on your trips?

    • @MeataVore
      @MeataVore ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cryr213 Because I do not eat any carbs whatsoever. I bring a plastic food container filled with boiled eggs and high fat beef burgers. I also carry a butter stick that I can bight on if I am really hungry. I do not drink as much water as I used to now and can cycle all day without eating except for the butter every so often if needed. I save my meal for after I have set up the tent. I do not need a fire or any heat as all my food can be consumed cold.

    I am planning to go on the bike trip for the first time ever this summer. I have lots of questions and things to learn before going. In my opinion the most important thing is safety. I was thinking to camp only in oficial camping spots, to feel more safe. What is your experience about camping alone, in a random spot? I am guessing that sometimes it gives you more flexibility and it's more spontaneous.

    Hi Great - Video thank you! Great to see how you spend your afternoon and set up, a few woman use bells strung in nylon around their tent - what are your thoughts? I’ve got lots of hair too and I notice you have a grey thing that seems to work as a hair turban ETC….can you give any details on where we might source one.

    • @giantcheerio
      @giantcheerio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the bell idea but to be honest I dont think it's very smart, especially when there is a lot of wind. The bells would sound like one of those jingle bell songs and instead of staying hidden God knows who could hear where I'm at from far away :D my Grey hair thing is something like a bandana and you can get it almost everywhere or DIY
