This is a film I never tire of watching. I've seen it at least a hundred times; it's perfect.

Kitty, I wholeheartedly agree. You really nailed it. Errol and Olivia can never be beaten. A superb film all round. And it’sTIMELESS!!
Just like Olivia, who incredibly is STILL WITH US!!!

This is by far my favorite film version of Robin Hood. Flynn was the ideal actor to portray this hero, de Havilland was perfect as Maid Marian and the villains played by Rathbone and Rains were only matched by Rickman's over the top performance in the sadly ill conceived "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves." I also think this version sticks the closest to the literary source material which is very important to me. Having said that, there is one version I cannot judge against it: the Douglas Fairbanks 1992 film since I've not seen it. I wouldn't doubt it is a great bit of work as well, but I don't think it could displace "The Adventures of Robin Hood" from my heart of hearts.

This movie was the "Star Wars" of its time, as it did everything right. Dazzling bright colors the definitive swashbuckler, and everyone looks like they're having lots and lots of fun. Also, speaking as a foodie: the food in this movie is mouth-wateringly delicious. That's not often said about this movie, as so many more aspects of the film are richly deserving of praise. But the juicy food, *and* the way everyone eats the food with relish, is one of the best "food" moments in the movies for me.

#4 for me. Fourth best movie of all time. Exceptional in every way. The spilled wine early in the film is so clever.

Thanks Kitty, I am a HUGE Robin Hood Fan! My personal favorite version by far is the tv series Robin of Sherwood. But I like a lot of the movies too.

+Artamus Sumatra Thank YOU! Robin is just the best thing ever. I have not seen a great deal of the Robin of Sherwood series, so I will definitely check it out.

+Kitty Hollywood I strongly recommend watching Robin of Sherwood. It's great for many reasons, not the least of which, it features both of the most famous versions of the character, first Robin of Loxley, and then Robert of Huntington. Plus the Sheriff of Nottingham in this version, is the best one ever imho, a perfect villain with tons of flair, and charisma. Guy of Gisborne is equally awesome too, those two have fantastic chemistry together, and tend to steal every scene they are in. And Prince John, oh man, he is hilariously egotistical, completely slimy. and an all around nasty piece of work. I could go on for days, this show is awesome.

Flynn was my first crush (tied with Gable)
I had their photos in my locker when I was in high school while everyone else had Leif Garrett and Shaun Cassidy (no thanks!)

Olivia was madly in LOVE with Flynn. The studio didn't want her to be another in like flynn.

She was in 8 /10 films with him , but he was married and she more mature . She wanted better roles and left in 1942 after "They Died with their Boots On ".

I'm not overly fond of Errol Flynn; this is the only film of his I've got, but this is THE definitive Robin Hood film. Outstanding in all dimensions.
Interesting snippet: Maid Marion's horse went on to fame as Roy Rogers' horse Trigger.

Hi Kitty. I wonder if the park in Chico , Calif. is still there or has it gone to wrack + ruin : development !? More's the pity.... anyway, check out " Prince Valiant " w/ Robert Wagner and Janet Leigh . Recommended ! By the way, Olivia confided on the Dinah Shore Show years later that she hid a tremendous crush on Flynn , eventually revealing it to him.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I learned that Kitty's "first massive crush" was on Errol Flynn. I would have thought Alan Hale

Why was Curtiz a bit of an idiot?
