Thanks Kitty. I love your enthusiasm for the Golden Years of Hollywood films. Most films made today just aren't in the same league. 💝💝

Great Review! Knowing all the behind the scenes and real back stories of the actors in the movie make Sunset Blvd even more better! I first watched it years ago and loved it, now I watched it again today after reading all the back story and it is even better!

The film for me has always felt something like a horror show-- a fantastic , gripping one at that. It's a gem, and so rewatchable. I get lost in the production design, and sets; consider Norma's amazing bed that reminds us of a gondola or swan.

I can understand the reaction within Hollywood to the film. It's presenting a very macabre picture of Hollywood's underbelly. I don't think the film is sleazy in any way, but Hollywood was a dream factory and it's similar to the image/PR of the L.A. PD in L.A. Confidential. It's one thing to make 'A Double Life' and show actors in that light, but 'Sunset Boulevard' is a much more incendiary film with no redeeming 'tinsel'.

I agree with you 100%. I think it was probably easy for them to get swept up in their own image of themselves, no matter how much they knew it wasn't true. Billy Wilder is such a fascinating director and the more I watch this film, the more I marvel at it.
