I lived in Bellinghm for 12 years... You were smart to see EVERYTHING worth touring there...in bellinghm... I've swam at that exact location...and there are blackberries throughout the entire city...It's a beautiful area and there's some great food...but there are the haves and the havenots, of course...it's now overrun very much by the same element consuming much of the west coast...I appreciate your review of BellinghAm.
I've lived in Bellingham for a year and a half from around mid-2019 - early-2021 (during COVID) and I can say that it's pretty awesome! The scenery around Lake Padden is beautiful and went to a local middle school over there too! During its first semesters, the student would do their Track and Field competitions over there at Civic Stadium (the one near Carl Cozier Elementary). And also had some sweet people and overall, an awesome community.
Grew up about a mile away from Whatcom Falls park. 60 years old now but when in Middle School it was a sign of courage to cross that old bridge. Not blocked off then. You missed out by not taking the trail in the other direction. That is where the unofficial swimming mostly takes place in an area called the whirlpool. There is also cliff diving that happens at this swimming hole.
Great video. The scenery is gorgeous. I know what you mean about blackberries just off the vine, nothing better. I love them. How was the burger with them?
I Gotta chance to work in Anacortes refinery my hotel was in Bellingham such a beautiful city, great views, jogging trails, weather, food spots & sunday morning traffic everyday from a California point of view of driving...
Funny, it’s I-5 here… definitely from California. Dead giveaway calling it “the 5.” Other helpful tips… Skagit, is pronounced Ska-jit, and Nooksack is nook (like the corner of a room) nook-sack. They are Native American names. No ice in the rivers, but most are glacier fed in WA state. They are all cold.
You really should have taken a local with you. There's so much cool stuff just in Whatcom Falls that you missed. Chuckanut Drive and all of the beaches and the Bat Caves are a must. Sehome Hill is great for a overview of the city. So many other place there to visit. I lived there for 8 years and loved it!!
FYI the bat caves are closed. The trail has been obliterated and hidden. However the view from the top Oyster Dome (of the San Juan Islands) is amazing still!
Sorry you guys weren't able to have the full North Cascades experience 😞but I love your attitude - "we'll see it next time!" Also consider changing your name to the furious tourists!
I discovered Bellingham 20 yrs ago. I was going to sell my house in California and move up there 10 years ago. Meet my wife in SF and never made the move. Someday, hopefully, I'll settle there. Life.
Welcome to the PNW; our Mexican food is terrible! 😂 I’ve lived in Bellingham for 7 years now; this video is fairly representative of how it usually goes, “…this would be awesome, if it weren’t raining…”. Major part missing from video was an exploration of the downtown and Fairhaven districts. Glad they, at least, they hit up Kulshan Trackside at Waypoint Park.
Maybe in Tacoma; I mean “taco” is built into the name, right!?! But seriously, you’ve got a significant hispanic population; we don’t in Bellingham. Cheers
Was born and raised there, sadly it is not the same as when I was a kid. Too many rich retirees and people coming in and driving up the prices. Its catered for the rich only now. The job infrastructure and wages doesnt support the cost of living there. And the cancer rates are through the roof if you do your research. No offense. Its beautiful..Where else can you get Islands with Orcas and the Mountains in your own backyard?. Good video though, I like your guys energy.
Nooksak- nook sounds like book Skaget- g like just j in jet and e is i in it. skajit You missed the lower falls in whatcom falls with the big cliffs young people jump off all the time. Beautiful park that feels like your deep in the wilds not in the middle of a city..
No, everybody doesn't mispronounce those names! As someone who was born and raised here and still lives here, I can tell you no truly local people mispronounce any of those names. She didn't even pronounce the city of Bellingham properly, and that is an English name straight from England.
@@TheAwkwardTourists why would you bother googling the pronunciations of local names, and still get them wrong?! Why not just take a few minutes and ask some locals how to pronounce the local names, and thus get them right?

Funny way how you pronounce the words, SKAGIT and NOOKSACK!
I've lived here all my life and Whatcom falls park is a popular spot among the middle school students.
It’s called Skagit (soft g)
Used to live in Bellingham, WA loved the area and the people❤
It was really nice, We enjoyed our time there a lot
Honestly clicked on the video for the Mouse Rat shirt but stayed for the vlog! New sub!
Did we just become best friends? Yup!
My kind of awkward. As a downtown resident, this was fun to watch.

Nice! Next time you come in the area let's do a few hikes together. Some amazing views in this area!

Yep the freeway names give us away for sure 😀
Awesome vlog yet again guys!!! 😍
I keep forgetting that Bellingham is a pretty popular tourist spot!
You were so close to one of my fave Hilton properties, The Chrysalis in Bellingham.
Ooh we'll have to keep that in mind for next time!
We’re considering staying at the location. Is the area nice?
I see you had the Ghirardelli ice cream sundae……epic! 😋
I can see you stopped at the boat ramp at the south end of Lake Whatcom where I put in to go fishing.
Thanks for sharing!

Great choice! Love your drone footage and editing.

We live our life one quarter mile at a time.....
I'm dying to visit there - thanks for showing some of the sights
It's a really great place to visit!

Mexican food is good out here in Eastern Washington but probably because of all the Latino Hispanic people we have so it doesn't suck in all the PNW
@@jamesleyda365 - I believe it! Please send some of those awesome folks to Western Washington!
I’ve lived in Bellingham for 10 years
No you’re trippin🤣🤣 there’s Mexican food everywhere in Tacoma. It’s over ran with Mexican food and it’s good
Maybe in Tacoma; I mean “taco” is built into the name, right!?! But seriously, you’ve got a significant hispanic population; we don’t in Bellingham. Cheers
Literally just passed you guys in San Francisco!
How funny!
Go to Lummi Island! So gorgeous there.
Was born and raised there, sadly it is not the same as when I was a kid.

Poor you - Mexican food in Bellingham. Is there such a thing???
Not any of note 🤷
That would be pronounced "Skajit" river :)
Good to know! Thank you
It’s pronounced Belling-Ham. Not Belling-um.
okie dokie then
You guys pronounced every indigenous name incorrect. That’s ok though, everyone does.
aw dang, we tried. Even googled a few for pronunciations
Nooksak- nook sounds like book
Skaget- g like just j in jet and e is i in it. skajit

Bellingham sucks!
So you visit a place you know nothing about and hype the 'best places' to go? Pretty presumptuous.
And where does it say that?
