    This was a great video of Seattle’s highlights! Question- where is the strawberry shortcake stand? I thought it was at the Kerry Park per the checklist but saw you guys take a car after the monorail so maybe it was somewhere else! It looked really good and I for one would visit Seattle for something like that!

    • @AndrewandMegan
      @AndrewandMegan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! The strawberry shortcake stand is in the park below the Space Needle. If you're walking towards the monorail, it'll be on your left, after the Museum of Pop Culture. And YES, we can confirm it was REALLY good. Hope you get to visit it!

    Starbucks started in the 70s. The store you visited is the first store but not the first location. They started out about a block north and then early in their history relocated to that location. The first Starbucks cafe, as we know them today, was located further into downtown.
    Personally I don’t think it’s worth waiting in line to get in. It’s no longer the bean and equipment shop that it began life as, and everything on the menu is standard. But if you’re there at 6am when they open then by all means take a look and get a drink.
    As mentioned Starbucks Reserve is a more unique experience if you’re a superfan looking for something you won’t get elsewhere.

    • @AndrewandMegan
      @AndrewandMegan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The monorail travels between two stations. One station is next to the Space Needle (Seattle Center) and the other station is off Pine St/5th Ave (Westlake Center). They depart every 10 minutes so it’s super easy to catch a ride. Here’s the official website if you’d like a map, along with the daily cost and operating times:

    I want to visit. But all I hear about is the crime and shootings. And it seems like it’s all over the city, not just on the south and west side like Chicago for example. I would appreciate your take on this because it looks like such a cool city, but i really would like to stay away from bad areas if you know.

    • @AndrewandMegan
      @AndrewandMegan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We totally understand as we heard similar things before visiting. However, we had a really good experience. While downtown, we walked from Pike Place Market to the metro and weren't approached by anyone, and felt safe the entire time. While eating lunch downtown, there was private building security posted at every other corner as well, and they kept people moving. Maybe some locals will add to this, but we were told Queen Anne is a safe area, where you can park your car on the street and not worry about someone breaking in. That's close to where we stayed and where Kerry Park is located. As with any new city, I always keep my head on a swivel and we rarely stay out past 9pm. Hope this helps and safe travels!

      It's called Pike Place Market, because it sit's at the foot of Pike Street, where, west of First Avenue, the street turns north, where the Public Market Center and clock sign is. This street is called Pike Place. Anyone who calls it Pike's Place is wrong, and I'm assuming, confusing the name with "Pike's Peak". But yes, everyone does it - except locals.

      @@AndrewandMegan That's fair. As a Seattleite, let me offer a few additional ideas:
      We have a pretty decent Chinatown, a great place to grab lunch, and nearby Pioneer Square is the historical heart of the city. Take a ferry ride - it's easy to take an inexpensive boat ride as a walk-on passenger. MOPOP, beneath the Space Needle, is our pop culture museum and definitely worth a few hours. Rent a boat at the Wooden Boat Center on Lake Union and row or paddle around for an hour, or rent a kayak at Northwest Outdoor Center. Get a drink or a beer at one of our interesting Belltown watering holes, such as Screwdriver Bar, Navy Strength, Shorty's, Rob Roy. We have a pretty nice art museum, SAM, just a few blocks south of the Market. Obviously, the Waterfront is not to be missed, especially with a new addition to the Aquarium opening soon. Anything between The Space Needle and Pioneer Square/Chinatown is on this list and quite walkable.

    7 things your have to do in Seattle. You have to avoid the puddles of urine. Avoid the piles of human feces. Avoid the thousands of homeless people living on the sidewalks in front of businesses and sights. Avoid the thousands of drug addicts. Avoid getting robbed. Avoid the used needles on streets and sidewalks. The seventh thing you have to do in Seattle is, look at all the empty business spaces as a result of poor Seattle leadership forcing businesses to close.
