Ted "the twig" Cook. It drives me crazy when I can't find a branch or a stick to try and spin the fan with. Most of them are surrounded by a jungle full of bushes until you need one stupid twig to spin the fan with and you can't find one anywhere. 😆😆😆

I like it when they say cheaper builder grade, no argument it is, but then unqualify their own statement by stating it has been working for 17 years lol.

We're going with window units if the old "Good one" blows. Not paying $10k for a new set. The whole shooting match is probably going to be acting up within several years but I believe don't fix what isn't broken. And don't poke around if it's been fine. Just doing caps every 7-10 years.

Nice touch by adding in a service call/repair rebate. Never thought about that. I may add that touch to my future calls.
    Good job, Ted…

I watch you and HVAC Guy…I love the HVAC trade…I’m actually a service plumber but I’ve always have to deal with all trades but like the HVAC trade. It seems like capacitors must probably be the most common part failure. As it seems like half the van is full of them 😂

Seems right. He is fixed and has an idea whats in store for the future. Lots of folks are better off replacing now depending on usage (how often they are home) vs. others who could keep the old going since they may not be home that much. Love it when both sides are happy.

Enjoy watching your videos.. Feel like I just got ripped off on a simple capacitor swap on my 10 yr old goodman unit.. got charged $159 service call fee plus $260 part.. plus tax of course.. looked up the part online and cost was $65. I am a hands on DYI guy but this was my 1st HVAC failure or problem so i called a reputable company in my area. I def can change a capacitor after watching him and your videos. Just curious what you would charge for what i had serviced.

I have a question about a phrase you used.
You said something like, "Let's cut it on, and see what it does."
I talk to people on the phone, trying to help them troubleshoot electrical things, and I've heard this before.
I think "cut it on" is synonymous with "turn it on".
But I have also had people say this to me when I think they are trying to explain to me that they turned it off.
Can this phrase be flip-flopped like that?
    Love your videos BTW.

Look up to you and your workmanship Mr.Ted. As you probably hate to hear I do insurance HVAC for family business for the past 2 years, as I've heard your comments about insurance work but we also take pride and do the right thing, but you wouldn't believe the things I see from other insurance subcontractors.. it has really clicked for me and makes sense...I was told discharging the capacitor is good and also know guys who have been doing it for 10 years and claim to have never discharged or been shocked by one. And I've seen you rub these with your fingers??? Is this habit or necessary? Thanks in advance!

  • @throttlebottle5906
    @throttlebottle5906 2 ปีที่แล้ว

OMG! OMG! Ted pushed the contactor in with his bare hand and totally could have been electrocuted. LOL
🤣 meanwhile, the rest of us wire LIVE often and the count of us being shocked is off the wall and no counters can keep up. once, twice, thrice, 900 thousand, 9 billion? I zapped myself nearly once a day in the mid to late 90's and plenty of times well before that and for sure tons after that. I must be a cat with 9999999999~(infinity) lives.🤯

Hate all the variations in caps. It is really troublesome trying to have multiple of so many types and it never fails that you have 3 of some oddity in one day. Or it's always a different shape/size like a short fat cap and all you have is tall skinny cap, it's just seriously a pain lol.

Goodman's will take 4 capacitor replacements to 1 Trane. It's true nothing will stop a Goodman, as long as your willing to replace all the parts every 4 years.
