To a terrific lady & technician: I must thank you for your the way you explain things, your professionalism, + the way you demonstrate each operation of a repair. Your product knowledge is uncanny to say the least. In one of your recent videos on string trimmers you had mentioned about greasing the head bearing. Over my lifetime I must have owned 6 gasoline string trimmers and I never knew about this maintenance issue. I have a 1 year old Red Max gas trimmer, I checked it & you were 100% correct. It was dry as the Sahara desert 🏜. There is nothing in the owners manual about this maintenance requirement. Thank you again 💓 💖, I'm glad that I'm a subscriber to your channel. Stay well 🙏 & be great as always, Thomas from N.J.

I enjoy watching your continuing posted videos. As many as those Walbro carbs as I have fixed, who knew they would come out with a new type diaphragm... And 9 out of 10 times it is that diaphragm too. In fact, I don't know if I ever needed a new needle or seat. Thumbs Up!

I had fuel issues since ethanol gas came around. Used ethanol remover with some results. Point being, I moved to a rural community where a station has non ethynol gas with a 91 octane. No problems since. I know everyone can't move. I am just agreeing that ethanol gas is a problem

    • @matthewshat
      @matthewshat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

True ethanol is bad but it’s the benzene in gasoline that does the worst damage to small engines.

Hope you read this comment. I am a retired CAT&CUMMINGS diesel mechanic and I enjoy your videos. About ten years ago I had a friend that bought a boat with a inboard engine that had been sitting for several years. It had a 75 gallon gas tank that was about half full of stale gas. He asked me for advice on the stale gas because I worked on marine diesels.
So I told him about a company named Starbright that had a product called Starton. Which to his and mine amazement brought that gas back from the dead! After that I researched the product and found it to be a fuel stabilizer that's really good for treating ethanol gas! I have been using it for all my engine including chainsaws and string trimmer.

Ten months ago, you probably won’t read this but I enjoyed this video. I fly Radio Control airplanes, large scale. Most have walbro carb’s. Except they don’t have primers. We’ve got to be extremely careful with are needle settings. Most run over 6400 RPM. You probably would believe the crap that clog’s the micro screen inside those little carbs.
I wonder if that new diagram assembly is available for these engines? Most of us use ethanol free 91 or higher and there’s no consensus of best two stroke oil! NWR C/S Krafty.

I use Briggs AFt or 5 in 1 stabilizer when I can find it. I bought ten bottles a few years ago when Walmart put it out with a liquidation price. I guess this shows what most homeowners think about fuel stabilizer. I try to buy oem Walbro carburator rebuild kits when I can find them. I burn only Premium non ethanol gas in everything I own, small engine. When I rebuild a carb it gets cooked in my ultrasonic and blown out with compressed air when that is through.

I have found that carbs are not machined flat, I use a new wide fine cut flat file and slide the carb up the file enough times to see a clean flat surface, I do the same with the end caps, If a part has a raised section dont file it off just work around it, You will be surprised how un flat the parts are and the diaphragms fit and seal better. With a new fine flat file you wont see any scratch marks. This helps with the primer bulb sucking air and not fuel.

A lot of guys sing praises about Echo fuel line. My Poulan 3800 came with Echo line installed. The seller was nice enough to send me a length of the line to use in my S25AV as he never installed the line in one. After installation I used some PC Duster Gas to verify the line wasn't plugged, or blocked in any way.

I don't know if you have one or not, but if you don't you should really think about getting an ultrasonic cleaner. I finally got one for my shop a few months ago and that has totally changed the carburetor game. A run or two in Simple Green in the cleaner and those carburetors come up squeaky clean! I've even used it on those two stroke gas tanks and they come up like brand new. A 6.5l size is the one I got. Once you use one, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it!

I have a Husqvarna 350 chainsaws. The manual calls for a 50:1 gas to oil mix for fuel. I have been using 45:1 mix in the belief that a bit of extra lubrication would be beneficial to keep the engine well lubricated. The saw seemed to be running fine with the 45:1 gas to oil fuel mix. Is there a down side to my thinking? Your comments/suggestions would be welcome.

If I were you I would invest in a " Pop-Off " gauge and pump and spring kit.
Now that you are using parts that differ from the original you may have to adjust the let off pressure on the diaphragm needle and fulcrum. Failing this McCullough used to sell a kit for the HL-HP carbs to tune, this kit might have matching parts Tillotson also sells a kit that covers many of their carbs.
This let off pressure is critical when you start messing around with different parts ( and even stock parts aftermarket ).
Too high a pressure and the engine will be lean at the top end lazy in response to changes and air fuel demands. Too little pressure and sensitivity to the needles is excessive. This really becomes critical when running carbs with the metering chamber above the venturi. Under those conditions you want a carb to be as free flowing of fuel as possible without slobbering, and being insensitive to the needles.
The name eludes me now, but there was an engineer at Walbro that wrote the book on tuning the W ( if he isn't retired now its been years since I last corresponded ) he would be able to list the procedures and spring options for you from memory. Your millage may vary trying to talk to anyone else there these days.
EC Birt was good too, he would have told you a lot of tricks for tuning. RIP Birt.
He would have been a great guy to ask as a guest on your chanel.
Anyhow once you know what combination of springs and fulcrum settings get you the best response there is no need for the pop off gauge for anything short of racing engines. I used to keep tables of what I knew would work for altitude, engine, and carb. This makes life a lot easier for the guy in the bush cutting timber for a living if his saw is easy to tune and performing at its best.

A lot of those Chinese carbs are better. Tooling and quality control on Tecumseh carbs was absolutely brutal. Chinese copies of Tillotson HL have excellent casting, compare that to the Irish made one then the old American made ones. In order the old American made were the nicest followed by a very close second for the Chinese and then you get the Irish made stuff now...
You want to see something that will make you cry? have a look at a Tillotson race carb and then a Chinese regular production carb. You will wonder if the Irish were into the booze on casting day.
      Anyhow my point:
Use an OEM skin kit in a clone carb. The Chinese make a decent casting but I'm not sure they skins are as consistent

If Walbro sponsored this video they do not have their $hit together. They should have given you a link to the Walbro store on Amazon where the viewer can find the spiral kit that they need for their equipment. The link you have is for 1 kit K1-WYTA sold by a 3rd party.
