Wolsey was so horrible. The ambitious son of a butcher, he betrayed Queen Catherine, worked behind Henry for his own ends and amassed immense fortunes, but when he fell, he fell hard. The serpent that he indirectly created, Anne Boleyn, turned against him, bit him repeatedly and destroyed him. What a nest of vipers the English Court was.
@@cindyaraya7317 If karma had existed it would have gotten Anne's father and uncle instead of Anne :P and it surely would have gotten Henry, cuz he's the reason of all that happened, not any of his wives.
Henry did not deserve a son with a woman like Katherine to carry on his legacy. He deserves exactly what he got, Queen Elizabeth, the daughter who was a better Queen than he was ever King.
I think that before the 16th century only the emperor was called majesty. But Francis I and Henry VIII didn't want themselves to seem less than the emperor so they made others call them majesty too.
@@Lily1127channel I think I heard Isabel's confessor refer to her as Majestad. But that was another show. It is a bit confusing as times. But thank you Lili
@@ib7132 Isabel and Ferdinand were granted the title "Most Catholic Majesty" by the Pope which is why she was referred to as Majestad. Henry didn't become "Your Majesty" until he declared himself head of the English Church, at which time he also declared that England would hold the same status as an empire so he could refer to himself as a majesty not just a highness.
Carlos, rey emperador It's a Spanish TV series about the life of Charles V (1500-1558), Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain, the most powerful man in the world in that age. (Katherine of Aragon was his aunt, the sister of Charles's mother Queen Joanna the Mad.)
I am pretty sure they have drawings of Nonsuch Palace there, not Whitehall Palace. Nonsuch Palace was build later than that. After Katherine of Aragon was dead. Also, we know from historical evidence last pregnacy of Katherine was in 1518. and she never conceived again. Emperor Maxmilian died in 1519. They have mixed timeline! And hence her miscarriage can't be due to stress over whom King supports. The supposed miscarriage that people speculate happened due to her wanting to support Spain over France was in 1514, when Henry VIII decided to marry his younger sister Mary to widowed French King and make peace with France.
This scene is BEFORE Maximilian's death, they just know he will die soon because he is ill and old. It's the 1518 miscarriage I think. I think it's not because of who Henry supports, it's just a miscarriage she had several of, sadly.
@@Lily1127channel Ok my mistake, so the pregnancy is her last one. But I have to point something to you. Most likely those miscarriages(and premature babies to weak to live) were her own fault. She fasted strongly even while pregnant! And even back then women were exluded from fasting while pregnant. Somebody had to be concern about it, it had to be above period norm, because Pope even wrote to her to start eating and she ignored it. And years later pope was only authority she listened to. And they call her husband a hypocrite...I am afraid saintly image of Katherine of Aragon we're being presented with is all former catholic propaganda. She was far from perfect and whetever she had some sort of eating disorder or whetever she trully believed not eating will please God-she most likely starved children in her belly to death.
@@Lily1127channel Beats me. I tried to figure out what happened, but I couldn't. All of her other pregnancies and even her early menopause would fit theory of too strong fasting. Katherine fasted strongly two days in week...I don't know, maybe during that one pregnancy she fasted less? But that is pure speculation. I have really no explanation for it-except miracle. Though I am not sure if it is completely true to be calling her completely healthy. Though she seemed as healthy child(or rather there is lack of period documents which would suggest otherwise), there are some things that seem weird later on. For example her neurotic personality and constant headaches, and sometimes even stomach pains, fainting, nausea and trembling of heart. Nowadays we associate it with her parents's divorce and her being depressed. But scientists belief some neurological disorders are more likely to happen if person lacked proper nutrions in prenatal period(in womb). It is also possible that depression put more stress on her body, causing whatever weak parts she had in her body to react... Also, she was decribed as thin and frail by those who met her. Even Margaret Beauford who was short and small of build, was never described in that way, even as she was old. And she had very serious problems with her menstruations-extremely painful. All her life. Not exactly picture of health to me. But at least as child, she was strong enough to survive to adulthood and not die from any disease that usually killed royal children. Fascinating.
@@Lily1127channel While it is assumed that Mary was completely healthy child, true is there is lack of evidence about her health from her childhood. We know she was smart, but that doesn't necesarly mean that she was also healthy. And she was been raised mainly by her mother at that time despite having royal governess-lady Bryan. And from puberty on she had serious health issues that were enhanced by stress, but they were so strong I really doubt it could be stress only. Also she had developed rather...neurotic personality and some research suggest that neurological disorders and unstable personality are more likely if there is deficiency in nutrients within prenatal period. Plus Mary had seriously bad menstruations suggesting underlaying problem and was described by people who met her as being frail. It doesn't scream exactly healthy to me.
Poor woman! This is an awesome series! I wish I could see it here in the United States!

Rayarena yes that calls karma
What goes around , comes around.
@Rayarena, And in the end it seems, that Karma ended up getting Anne Boleyn as well, don't you think?
It was surving at that time... you HAD to work like that.

Well, Henry last years were filled with tremendous suffering due to his many illnesses, so Karma got him that way I suppose.
love french king’s voice❤️

a convincing Henry! thought I think he would have made a better Francis I of France.
Catherine is my true love 🤩🤩 Wolsey and Henry are hideous
Wolsey was orrible, but this old man is too cute with that lively eyes 🤩

Well if that's true it's surprising how that one child of hers (Mary) could happen to be completely healthy.

She looks here over 40. Wasn't this in late 1510s?
Catherine appears from 1518 till her death, 1536 in this series, so ages 33-50. She is played, naturally, by an actress who is "in between", about 40.
