@@GreatDayForAHike I just got finished doing the Night Lapse, but I noticed the video is 54 minutes long. And I don’t think it came out as a night video though.

This is probably the best video I have seen on TH-cam in a VERY LONG time. Nice job, I learned a lot about this camera and was really looking for a video that would cover everything. Thanks!!!
Incredible detail by GDFAH, I would image this video took considerably more time to produce than the 1hr:50min that I watched. I'm coming from a GoPro 3 to the GoPro 11, so I copied every setting you laid out in the video to get started. I appreciate your straight forward presentation without the "In Your Face" approach to get attention that so many TH-camrs use. Worth every penny of my $10 donation !!!

@@GreatDayForAHike Looking forward to it! I have the GoPro 10, but with the new Night Modes and other improvements, thinking about upgrading to the 11. Think there are enough improvements to make the jump to the 11?
This is a great question and ultimately I would say this depends upon your specific use cases of the GoPro. If you value having 10-bit video, the Full Frame mode for more editing flexibility or some of the new night modes then I would say it’s worth looking at for an upgrade. If you don’t want to use those features then it may not be worth the upgrade.

I know this video is now 2 months old. Very good and quite comprehensive.showing all of the Hero 11 black. I bought the Hero 9 2 years ago and while it lacks some features of the 10, and 11, it's quite feature packed and I tend to use standard with linear to reduce the tendency of straight lines like poles from curving at the edges. I did do a few minor mods to the settings however, one correction. The way the Hero is shipped now began with the Hero 9 as mine came with the same case, though the logo is white, not blue being the only difference. I have 2 cameras as in 2019, bought a used Canon Vixia camcorder that only does 1080P and the only thing it lacks is a cold shoe. It, does have the external jacks for headphones and mic but a year later, bought the GoPro H9 and it's basically replaced the Canon for most shooting. I do use the Canon as a second camera for 2 camera shoots, using the built in mics to get the scratch audio for syncing up with the Gopro. The ONE thing I'd love is for Gopro to bring back the preview while taping but it's not a deal breaker and yes, I do use the front screen. The ONLY issue I have is that it's easy to get one's greasy paws on the lens and thus get a good smear if not careful. So check to be certain the lens is cleaned before shooting. It's amazing how much better the image looks when it's clean. If running Windows 10, perhaps 11, get the H.165 codec (HEVC) from Microsoft (a whole $1) and nix transcoding as that'll help your overall image a bit as well as saving you time for that task in your workflow. This is especially true if you are using proxies in your editing software as for slower PC's, it'll help with 1080+ footage, otherwise, you'll need to transcode to a more edit friendly format than H.264/265.

A lot of great info, very in depth, thanks :) Taking mine to Disney World with me to vlog this week and wanting all my settings good to go. I typically shoot in 4k 30, would you suggest shooting in 4k 60 on roller coasters?
You’re welcome. That sounds like a fun time and a great place to take a GoPro. I would say there are two main use cases that would justify shooting some of the footage on a roller coaster in 4K 60. One is if you want to do any slow motion from the footage. Two is if you want to share footage in that higher frame rate of 60. Otherwise 4K 30 should do great.
My Hero 11 didn't have that message for UPDATE on it... nor do I find anything in the package stating this> This is my FIRST GoPro so that is why I am watching this over and over.. :) THANK YOU!!!!
So clear and detailed. ..but I did something different. Somehow there is a yellow dot on my video icon..now I can't access it to video ( just time lapse and photo). Ideas?? Pls someone help

Excellent video, thanks for sharing! I have just compared the iPhone 14 Pro with the GoPro Hero 11. During testing I was surprised to see that the iPhone Action Mode offered little improvement in stabilisation when compared to the stabilisation in the “normal” iPhone video setting. All the best, TruePreView
Thank you for your feedback! Yes, the iPhone does certain video functions really well but the action mode on the iPhone seems like it needs some more research and development before it becomes a viable competitive option to dedicated action cameras for the purpose of action filming.
Thank you very much for this incredible video. A lot of useful info for GoPro 11. I have noticed in my GoPro 11, 5.3K a lot of noise in the sky even in ISO 100. Do you know why is this happenning? In 4K there is no noise
You’re welcome. I expect this issue is something GoPro needs to tweak and probably will via the next firmware update. I would expect to see a firmware update for the Hero 11 again within a few weeks.
The tripod mount is nice, but it would be better for them to make one with an arca swiss plate built in. That way you don't have to take apart your tripod (remove head) to fit the gopro attachment on. I had to find a 3rd party adaptor to make it work.
This is a great video and I learned a lot thanks for all your hard work. You mentioned that you should use the zoom at the end when you are editing it I hope I understood you correctly?
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, this is correct. I don’t recommend using zoom on the GoPro itself because it will reduce the quality of your footage.
Wow! Thanks for the epic in-depth walk through of HERO11 Black 🤝

One is if you want to do any slow motion from the footage. Two is if you want to share footage in that higher frame rate of 60. Otherwise 4K 30 should do great.
@@GreatDayForAHike Awesome thanks :)

My Hero 11 didn't have that message for UPDATE on it... nor do I find anything in the package stating this> This is my FIRST GoPro so that is why I am watching this over and over.. :) THANK YOU!!!!
I really appreciate your feedback and support!
So clear and detailed. ..but I did something different. Somehow there is a yellow dot on my video icon..now I can't access it to video ( just time lapse and photo). Ideas?? Pls someone help
Great video. I haven't decided about the 11 yet. My 10 really does everything I need. But we'll see.
Thank you. Yes, there are a few features on the 11 that some may value/use but if not then the 10 is a perfectly great GoPro.
Thank you sir!! Best tutorial ever!!
I appreciate your feedback!
Thanks for your clear tutorial teaching me as new go pro user in learning about the blurry result in night mode help us more Thanks in advance I am not editing so this help me a lot.
Excellent walk-through of all features. Thanks a ton! 🙏

can't wait for mine to be delivered this 10/12!!!
That’s exciting. Hope you enjoy it!
Excellent job!
Thank you!
This is a Really great video, Nice Job !!!!!
Thank you!
Great info . . . I’ve purchased the 11 Black but waiting for 12.25 to open the present!
That’s going to be a great gift!

@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you 🤗
Details are very good 👍 nice video
Thank you!
@@GreatDayForAHike Thank you very much for your reply. So, have you noticed the same noise in 5.3k?
I have not noticed it so far on mine.
I really love this Gopro , I surely buy it one when I am monetized.

Absolutely great. Thanks for the detailed walkthrough.
I always learn a ton from your walk throughs!
I am glad to hear this and appreciate your feedback!
Thank you for sharing all this. A very helpful video! 👍
You’re welcome and I appreciate your feedback!
The tripod mount is nice, but it would be better for them to make one with an arca swiss plate built in. That way you don't have to take apart your tripod (remove head) to fit the gopro attachment on. I had to find a 3rd party adaptor to make it work.
Yes, that would be nice indeed.
What a great video! Fantastic tips for both new an old GoPro owners. Cheers
I appreciate it!
Santa Clause got me one for Christmas yay!🎅
That’s a great gift 🎁 from Santa.
This is a great video and I learned a lot thanks for all your hard work. You mentioned that you should use the zoom at the end when you are editing it I hope I understood you correctly?
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, this is correct. I don’t recommend using zoom on the GoPro itself because it will reduce the quality of your footage.
thank you very much! I've learned a lot.
You’re welcome!
