    I just watched this whole video and was on pins and needles. You got SO lucky many times, especially the first time one of the locks broke off and almost fully pierced the thin aluminum wall of the pressure cooker, and then again when the lid backed out right after turning it on and you walked past it multiple times. With that grinder, spinning at 10,000 to 12,000 rpms, you could have been killed with the lid shooting off. I HIGHLY recommend using anything made out of steel for your main body...anything but aluminum, please. I love DIY's, but this was insanely dangerous. I can offer tips if you want, being a fabricator of 35 years, and a builder of rock crushers myself...just message me, I'm happy to help.

      @LeeHendrixGold yeah, sorry, not trying to be one of those whiners on here giving crybaby criticism, but when I saw the beginning of the video I thought it was a spoof, or a joke video. If you're trying to save money, get an old propane tank. They're pretty much free, and even though they're thin steel, it'll be way stronger and safer than aluminum. Take care, heavy pans!

      Thanks, I hate to see a perfectly good pressure cooker going to waste on the Goodwill shelf. Seriously, that one is aluminum and I know the scrap value exceeds $5. The 'ole Instapot has made the pressure cooker a thing of the past 😂

    A great project Lee. Thanks for sharing your crusher with the community. Interesting test with the pad locks. I am still trying to use 3/8" log chain, Maybe this is a good solution to wear of the chain. Looks like crushed rocks to me. Don't think the grinder like its job.😎😎⛏⛏🔥🔥

    • @LeeHendrixGold
      @LeeHendrixGold  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the jury is still out on how long the locks will last but they certainly outlasted that grinder! It was putting off enough smoke to get noticed over the quartz dust. Thanks for the comment and the view!

      CH, if I had involved you in this endeavor it would have been a very short video because it would have worked perfectly on the first try 😃. Just think what the Davis crew could do with a piece of steel pipe and plate and the right welding/cutting tools and a motor 🤔

  • @Pa.PatriotProspecting
    @Pa.PatriotProspecting ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Just need a nice motor now maybe a bench grinder motor? 👍🏻

    • @LeeHendrixGold
      @LeeHendrixGold  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, maybe I can build a giant hamster wheel for Oakley and save some electricity 🤔. I actually thought I had caused a power outage. Right after I unplugged the grinder due to the wrong type of smoke in the air, I went inside the house to find there was no power. I had brief period of anxiety until I checked the breaker box and received an outage alert from Spectrum. I knew I hadn't done anything to the cable!

  • @banditjones3632
    @banditjones3632 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    High current motors will not bog down under load ie rocks being poored in. Between 3 to 5 hp motor from a metal bender will do nicely.

    • @LeeHendrixGold
      @LeeHendrixGold  ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes since because my smaller grinder would slow down and it has less amps than the new one I was using. Thanks for the tip! I've got to replace the grinder and come up with a clamping system for the lid. The rock dust gets in the seal and makes it extremely hard to turn after use.

  • @Ltn.Immelmann
    @Ltn.Immelmann ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Learning while doing. The video was exciting until the end. You built a great crusher with simple resources. If the locks had been brass, you would have had brass grit in your frying pan, but it wouldn't have been difficult to separate. Hi Lee, well done mate 🤠⚒👍

    I like your ppe the bullet proof vest to some might seem unnecessary but a rock or piece of metal flying over 200mph will cause a bad day in whoville. Can’t wait to see what you found I love the rock crushing you never know what you might find

    • @LeeHendrixGold
      @LeeHendrixGold  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly, there was no gold to show from that maiden crush (just a bunch of brass pieces). However, once I make a few design changes in the crusher, I've got a rock with a lot of limonite that may have some shiny locked up in it. 🤞

    Check your RPM on the grinder motor and find a motor off of an old air compressor, or like a messed up or unwanted clothes dryer someone may have to get rid of because I think you can use a clothes dryer motor wired as 110 V and they’re just 220 V because of the heating element and the motor itself turning the tub but that’s what I would do is find something like an old air compressor motor that’s made to run at longer times and be able to handle the little bit of stress of the rocks being crushed

      I think some people believe things have to be made a certain way because that's the way it's always been done. I'm not the type of person that's going to spend $1500 on a commercial grade impact mill just so I can get $1.00 worth of gold. I don't want anyone to get hurt trying to build something that puts them in danger but it's a free country thanks to people willing to risk much more than I do by using a "sub-standard" rock crusher 😎

      What's up Creed? 🤠. You know as well as I that saving gold is almost as important as getting it so I bought the least expensive one that Lowe's carries. That one was $44 + tax. I don't know how anything with 7 amps of power can be made so cheaply but I got my $44 worth of fun out of it.
