2011 Chevy Cruze - Thermostat, Water Outlet & Hoses Replacement

- There are several known problems that plague the Gen 1 Chevy Cruzes. The cooling system is one of the major ones. GM decided to use a bunch of plastic components when they should have been metal. The heat cycles cause the plastic to get brittle and break. Also, the garbage Dexcool coolant eats the hoses up from the inside out. In this video, I replace the water outlet, thermostat, both radiator hoses and the turbo coolant hose.
You will also notice in the video that I just a nifty turned aluminum fitting to replace the plastic one at the top of the water outlet. If you would like to get one yourself, message @frankish5314

Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the video. Going to do this proactively next job on my 2015
I recently uploaded a video changing out the heater lines and the reservoir. I highly recommend you do those at the same time since the system will be drained and they all wear out.
I am the guy that makes the aluminum/brass fitting. And yes I built two airplanes, but not for Boeing..:). If anyone wants one I sell them basically at cost to help folks out. It gives me practice on my new manual lathe in retirement plus it saves folks having that fitting snap off and calling a tow truck. HMU if you need one.
You can take the charge pipe hose off the mouth of the intake and move it towards the fender. You'll have more than enough room to work on the outlet and get to everything
Good tip for anyone doing it. My biggest issue was getting the clamp off from the heater hose to the outlet to even be able to get the charge pipe off.
@@greasyfingergarage I cut my charge pipe in half and re-connected using a piece of 2 inch silicone hose.. Goes in/out dead easy now..:)
Thank you
No problem
