No, unfortunately until forever. The 2025 engine regulations are going to decrease horsepower in the name of cost saving which will slow down the cars even further than they already will be. The 18-inch wheels alone will make next years' cars 2 seconds a lap slower and that's time that will never be able to be recouped back. The other aerodynamic and chassis regulation changes will make the cars a further 1.5-2.0 seconds a lap slower. The best current estimate is that next year's cars will be 3.5-4 seconds/lap slower than the current ones and due to the simplified components there will be a lot less scope for performance improvements from aero and chassis upgrades. Eventually, Formula 1 will switch over to Electric and unless there is a new radical improvement in battery technology it will be impossible for an electric car to have anywhere near the same power-to-weight ratio as an ICE or hybrid car due to the massive weight of the battery packs and their energy density.
So yes, sadly what we are witnessing in this video is the fastest car the world will ever see.

Everybody thought the same thing about the Ferrari F2004 which was the fastest ever from 2004 to 2017.
Regulations change forever, but the engineers are smart guys, they will figure out a way to go faster

I enjoyed how he dipped the left wheel on the sand and grass after the Maggots-Beckets combination. Further up the road in the final corners it just shows how great and grippy the front end is. So planted, no tedency to oversteer at all. Incredible driving. Got maximum out of it.

hamilton liked his cars to understeer instead of oversteer but this car was so good it was still perfect for hamilton while having that insane turn-in and front grip

0:18 lewis correcting some oversteer on the exit of the loop. You only get oversteer when
1) your rears are on less grippy kerb (which in this case, they were not)
2) rears are overheating (he was on the start of flying lap so it doesn't make sense)
3) you are going faster than the car could
That was not over-steer correction, that was nothing. This car was planted in the asphalt.

He just applied throttle a little early, but the car stayed fairly planted anyways

When they say anyone can do the same in that car remember bottas was in the same car and was fighting with max for p2 in the championship and remember that if u take away bottas points from Mercedes they’d still be champions with Lewis’s points so anyone might be able to do good in that car but not against Hamilton
Max and LeClerc can. They're proven themselves to get Lewis nervous with lesser cars. LeClerc almost even beat him in 2021 on this track with quite a subtop Ferrari against the mighty Mercedes. Verstappen doing so well against Bottas proves my point. This Mercedes car is so damn good meanwhile Albon and Gasly couldn't even get close to Max and too often found themselvesin the midfield, fighting McLarens for example.

For some reason shifting from 3rd gear to 8th is just sooo satisfying
Awesome lap. Disappointing that revs don't exceed 12000 except around 0:34 which may have been accidental. Fuel flow restrictions and reliability concerns limit this, would be really interesting to see this car use all 15000 rpms and the time it could produce.
The v6 can only do up to 13000 rpms, that's why they shift up at around 12
@@soham499213,600 is the rev limit on the Mercedes engine. There's some 2014 onboards of it hitting that limiter.

From the telemetry onboard, it looks like he never used tailbraking. If you look at the brake gauge, it goes from 0 to full and viceversa, no in between. Isn't that odd?

He almost took the entirety of Maggots and Becketts flat out…. he had to lift and apply the brake ever so slightly. One day a car will go through there completely flat out. We will see which team can create such a beast. Probably in like 20 years tho, i highly doubt the 2026 regs will be able to do it. The next era hopefully.

If a car can go flat out through maggots and Becketts, that just means it is underpowered. The nature of f1 means having a car like that would be terrible for racing.
@@alejandromarquez3526 F1 will only speed up from here. It already is faster then in 2022 this season. Time will only tell how the racing is and if a car would even be able to do that.
@@Monkemonkemonkemonkemonkee yeah I’m just saying if we have that much downforce, we might need 1.5-2k horsepower, and that's probably not safe for a human to race for 2 hours, too much physical stress, accidents are too likely and wayyyy more dangerous when a car uses higher downforce, since when it spins it loses all downforce and has even less control than when on track.
