    Fantastic! Never thought about the sarabande before like this in terms of absent notes. Instead I always struggled to shape the present notes. Very inspiring, many many thanks!

    Interesting. I hear the harmonies implied by the bass very differently - with more “motion” being implied, versus here the interpretation seems to be that the bass is “static” and more dissonant against the prior four notes of the pattern. Of course it is a matter of interpretation but to me, the beauty is that there is a faster harmonic rhythm being implied which isn’t sounded. I appreciated that Jean-Guihen recognized that there were alternatives.
