Thank you very much mam for your analyses of Kanthara
I am from coastal Karnataka where the devine story gave birth to movie Kanthara.
Everytime I hear the music 'Varaha Rupam' my eyes becomes wet, this song touched my heart and soul.
For others this is a movie. But for we native coastal Karnataka people this is lifeline of our life. Our soul revoles arround 'BHOOTHA KOLA'. For us this is not a thriller story. We believe this is our own household story. We very much emotionaly connected to Bhootha kola and to this movie. Every one moves out of theatre and finds space to wipe tears. Our tears for Guliga and Panjurli who are everyday protects us the way shiva revived by the Guliga in the climax seen. We cannot imagine a life without 'Bhutha Kola'.
In this movie divine power such a beautifully picturised I could not hold my tears several times , because we believe 'Panjurli' and 'Guliga' every day protect us. Our part of the world never seen any natural calamity for centuries. We believe we protected by these demigods.
This movie picturised with extreme devotion. The one acre area of the film set was treated like temple , no one used to wear shoes or sandals. No one used to eat non veg food or drink alcohol. During entire shooting period director hero Rishab Shetty never visited his family. When you deliver the things with such an extreme devotion , the result is 'KANTHARA' the soul of our cultre. Success of Kanthara is result of divine power. May this divine power protect our Bharatha and the entire humanity.
Finally Rishab Shetty thank you very much for showing our culture to entire world. May Guliga and Panjurli give choicest blessings to you and to your entire family.

Yes - Mangluru, Udupi, Kundapura, Kollur, Sringeri, Horanadu, and Kudremukh are amazing places. Their temples, culture, food habits, and of course their customs are unique and it's an experience to travel through this land of an amazing culture that is rooted to the land. I have not seen the movie yet but plan to see it.
I understand that the main theme of the movie is based on the Bootharadhne, based on a traditional Yakshgaana dance form, famous around these parts. I have seen such customs in Kerala temples where such performances abound in places like Chottanikkara, Kodugallur and many Bhagavati temples. These folk arts in Kerala go by such names as Kathakali, Chakyarkoothu, Ottamthullal etc, These are dance forms unique to these coastal areas.
    Can't wait to see Kantara.

Madhyapradesh gwaal dance is very similar to ths. Every village has some special devotees who fast for 1 week and wear very tranditional cloth with mukut(crown) just like this song for dance. on the next day of diwali they come bare foot from different villages and dance in Shri krishna Mandir. Very hardcore devotees choosed by bhagwaan krishna put their hands in fire and pickup red hot trasool of bhagwaan shiv and dance with that trasool 😊😊

Sounds like myth or grandma tale, but it's unforgettable for those who have witnessed that divine process. They should cleanse both their physical body, as well as spiritual self. They fast for weeks before they become the embodiment of those demigods. The power they possess during that time is unimaginable. 💗🙏🏼

Kantara represents South Karnataka Tulu Nadu Daiva's sacred rituals, similar rituals exists accross India in different forms, system, rituals and process, finally message is to protect/respect our Forest/Nature, the Daiva's are the bridge between Humans and Nature (Nature is God's manifestation/creation to sustain Life in the World).

We have been worshiping Kola and Bootha ritual for more then 200 years, and I am shocked to see how rest of India now react to our practices. Where were you before?

The singer has sung beautifully, full of devotion. The music crescendo, Varaha ...an avtaar of Lord Vishnu.....and it is so touching when they tap on their chests

Varaha, the third incarnation of Lord. Vishnu, the supreme among all Gods.
Varaha, the third incarnation of Lord. Vishnu, the supreme among all Gods.
He who assumes the form of a wild boar; the greatest of the demons.
With teeth as hard as diamond, he who protects us like a shield.
He who embodies the essence of Shiva the one who thrives on earth
He who gives refuge to those who believe in him.
The one who has won the hearts of thousands of Gods.
We now stand in front of you, worshipping you.

I can understand foreigners showing shock & awe at the visuals and their inability to understand but feel sorry when Indians give similar reactions. Know your country lady.
Music here ofcourse took it to another level.
