Estonia isn't slavic though :) They speak a language close to Finnish.
+FcK2420 you're correct. Ash just meant it sounded like Russian to her. Or rather, that she couldn't tell the difference. :p
That's true! We are both Nordic and Eastern. More Nordic tho :)
FcK2420 Americans aren't particularly great at geography and world culture. And I'm OK with that. They're very friendly though.
There is NO way Estonian sounds like Russian. ;Maybe only if there is a Russian trying to speak Estonian and not doing a very good job at it.Is is a huge insult for Estonians to mix us up with Russians.
Lol Estonian and Russian language sound is completely different. Please dont use lame excuse.
Estonian language is as far from Russian language as Chinese. English has far more similarities with Russian language.
@@ruubentootsen3743 russia is loans estonian have more own words
@@ruubentootsen3743 but estonian is finno-ugric language
Russian and Estonian languages are so different, like day and night!
How to offend an estonian- say it's language is similar to russian :D

No it's not I'm Estonian it's more they don't know how to speak there dumb

Queremos os gringos no Brasil
She just thought it sounded similar. Maybe they don't even know exactly how Russian sounds because they are from US and they don't have Russian speakers around. Tallinn does have a big Russian population and it's possible they were hearing Russian and thought it's Estonian. Don't make such a big deal about it.
Yep thats exactly right. But I understand why some people are touchy about it. :)

Love your videos! So Informative You guys are blessed!!!
OMG the soup looks deliiiish! I never went to Estonia, even when I was in Europe, but I've been watching Estonia videos and I love it! Thanks for sharing your trip guys, so cool!
Thanks so much! It WAS delicious!
@@WAYAWAYWithAsh I have had the cold beet soup in Latvia many times and it's delicious, but the coconut milk added sounds really unique. The other MUST-try soup in Northern European countries is Soljanka as it varies in many places.
Tere eestist (Hello from estonia) i hope you like our country :D

The countries I want to visit one day: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania 👍
+Ulix A well you're in luck! We're headed to all of them.
They all 3 are worth to visit. My favorite countries in Europa.
Hah I live in Estonia and you can drive through them all in 5-9h
I'm from estonia!!!
- Blini aren't an Estonian dish though as Estonia is not a Slavic, nor Eastern European country. You just happened to be in a restaurant that offers them.
- Estonian is absolutely not similar to Russian as it's not an Indo-European language like Russian and English are.
Exactly! Estonian language has nothing to do with any Slavic language. It's a part of Finnic branch of the Uralic language family.
Also, Blinis are Russian/Slavic dish.
+Eksi arvamus you're not wrong and I never said Blini was Estonian. Also Ashley just meant it sounded Russian to her, or more accurately that she doesn't know the difference between the two when listening in on a conversation.
Thanks for watching, we hope you enjoyed! 😀
I am an Estonian. How can Estonian and Russian be similar? Russian an English are actually more similar, same family tree. Estonian is totally different finno ugorian language!
Well, what sounded Russian to Ashley definitely was Russian, because there are living a lot of Russians in Estonia and Latvia(the biggest amount of them in capitals of those countries), less in Lithuania(heritage of occupation of the USSR) and they simply are speaking Russian. It`s the same as if I will tell to everyone after visiting Maiami restaurant that English sounds like Spanish. I don`t know how about you, but I am trying to learn and find out beforehand some info about country, its culture, language etc. I am going to visit and therefore to show some respect to it and not total ignorance.
English has 4 time tenses , Russian has 6 abstracts , Estonian has 14 abstract cases , Finnish has 18.. Finnish,Estonian and Hungarian are the 3 Finno-Ugric language groups from ancient languages wich have survived and evolved overtime.

It was so fun to watch being estonian myself 😁
Nordic ≠ Northern European. I'm pretty sure most of Northern Europe accepts Estonia as a Northern European country, but not Nordic.
Krompskont we are Nordic and that's it
Estonians consider themselves nordics. Some people disagree, but the fact is that they did have a prolonged relationship with Scandinavia and Finland. They’re also an observer state at the Nordic council (ie. they’re part of the council but they don’t have any power).
Yummy food! Became interested with Estonia lately because of the Development Report 2021. Watching from the Philippines.
Aitäh! Thank you for this feedback! ❤️
You two look like you belong there...blonde, some tall. Beautiful hair...it's good to see Josh's beautiful face! That food looked amazing! This is quickly becoming a luxury travel blog! I do love it!!!
+Gayle Arnold it's true! We feel like we fit in really well. I wouldn't mind it becoming a luxury travel vlog XD But of course we would still like to include "normal" stuff too.

Because of your videos, I am heading to Tallinn in a couple of weeks... (along with Riga, Warsaw & Helsinki)
Thats amazing to hear. What a cool trip you have planned. We love that we have travelers who watch our channel. :) -Ash
Cool you like our country!Greeting from Estonia😊🇪🇪
Great video! I was just wondering how much the Blini cost at the beginning of the video? Thank you and keep posting travel videos!
Oh there are so many cool old towns in Europe. Prague reminds me of Tallinn in that sense. There's a bunch of medieval buildings.
Good .... I came across the travel and share Channel
Hey when you come to riga eat at pelmeni xl . they have a Local trink called kwas to find in Every Supermarkt . The beer Zelta is also Very Good. Dont forget visit the brach at majori jürmala. Nice greetings from nothern germany
I am not eila in Tallinn but I live in Lääne-Viru county. I hope you like it in Estonia 😁
The most positive video I have seen. Really liked it :)
Yeah!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it:) Thank you -Ash
I can now attest to how Tallinn is in "wintry" (for me) weather. Daytime high of 0°C, quickly falling back to -2°C with a chill factor making feel like -6°C...
Hi! I've just saw you in the Travel and Share video and subscribed your channel. Nice to meet u guys! Please come to Brasil!
There is a restaurant called Rataskaevu and it's the best thing ever.

I wish to try this foods, they look really good. Even i searched fish cookies recipe on net but couldnt find yet:)
they look a lot like French macaron. Theyre probably made with egg whites and some sort of lobster flavoring
+shock haber well it's a highly conceptualized dish by their expert chef, I imagine it would be very difficult to replicate.
I can cook it well, i'm sure of myself:)
Josh is handsome without the beard. Haha.. like this eps as it is talking about the first impression of the country you 2 been. Upon hearing your 2 new schedule of travelling around europe.. it is more of northern europe trip till western europe?
+Desmond Foo yep we're staying North for a bit, then West.
Huge hug for you from İstanbul.
+Tobias Rieper 🤗
It is Estonia is located on one side of Latvia and on the other Russia and bathed by the Baltic Sea. It seems that its gastronomy is rich and different from everything we know, but not exotic. I hope you show us everything you have of interest in this country. Yes, I liked the video! Greetings from Brazil! Strong hugs! And yes, come to Brazil, too, why not!
+Dorival Bonancea Junior Estonia was awesome! We still have more to share from there!
i was born in tallinn. haven't been there in 20 years. my dream to visit it soon.
Definitely go again if you can!

Do you plan to visit at least Gdansk in Poland on your way? Talking about ginger bread; you can not miss city of Torun. It is famous for delicious pierniki (Polish ginger bread) and beautiful city itself! Btw: I think Gdansk, Warsaw and Krakow should be "a must" ,while visiting Poland.
+Mirek Bieniak sandy Gdansk is a little out of the way for us this trip, but something to look forward to next time.
The Endless Adventure is in Latvia, you guys should do a meet up again!
+Kale Heino we meet up in Estonia in their video on Wednesday!!
yaaaaas so excited!
I live in tallinn..

Hi
How much should the parrot flight menu cost? Looked amazing!
+Yve Rose actually the prices were pretty reasonable per plate (like €5 or so) but you would need many to get full if sharing like we did. Expect to pay around €50 for food for two.
WΔY ΔWΔY nice, thank you 😁
Nice. ...video. .and. ..I. ..am....Indian. ...nice
Anytime a goverment emplyee or doctor looks at your information, you will be able to see that they did and why. Doctors instantly check your medical history, prescriptions, allergies ect. even if youve changed doctors many times. As far as i know only police can check your public transport history if they have a warrant. Your personal details cannot be sold to private interests unlike in the us.
+name yeah I really like idea behind it! I've thought of getting the e-residency.
Estonia is a cool Nordic country. Unbelievable what whey achieved since the occupation time
So happy to see your handsome face again (sans beard) Josh Brown. I bet Ashley likes it too! Parrot Mini Bar looks amazing.
+Susan Welter oh yeah Ashley LOVES it! Haha. She hates the "beard". :p And for real, it may be our favorite restaurant in the world.
Wow amazing! when will you be in Poland?

Can you guys visit Africa for safari tour?
+Zack Wies we are thinking of making it to Morocco but I don't know that we'll make it further inland.
Well the food is close to Russian cuisine in a sense that at Russian food is also some way Nordic when we talk about st Petersburg.
That restaurant looks incredible! Do you guys get discounted or free meals in exchange for promotion for restaurants?
+Fearless Jacey I depends, every place is different. In the case of Estonia, we worked with the tourism board and got to try out many restaurants for free to share with you guys. Both restaurants in this video included! /J
Good thing i live in tallinn so i can expirence ervything and i totally recommend coming to Estonia (Estonian language is close to finnish not slavic)
Can we converse?
the lobster/caviar cookie looks like heaven! And when I went to Russia in '89 with 30 Deaf college students NObody was interested in the thick pancakes with sour cream and caviar, I ate ALL of them! That restaurant clearly looks like the price of a plane ticket...ask for recipes and write a WayAway cookbook! stay safe xo
Yes, I want recipes too!
+mithaweed I don't think I'd be able to create those dishes even WITH a recipe! Surprisingly, each dish was only €5 or so... though to get full you would need many like we had.
Are you planning to go the the netherlands after Brussels?
Yep! Exactly that!

We knew it,... we knew that there is something in Estonia.
Tere tulemast tagasi ;-)

Must go to the Papagoi baar :)
I make many Estonian nature/lakes,beaches/fields videos. Yes I am estonian man. and in videos is twolanguages .First estonian and then english.
Don't worry about the language part, some of us may feel little offended for certain reasons but overall most of us don't care that much. Great video and you may expect more views from Estonia in few weeks.
Aww thank you!
Bom dia
Very nice and warm video! Thank you guys! Yeah, the food is the best in Estonia))
I speak russian and have a friend who is spanish.. Lets be honest, for me those languages are very familiar because alot of words mean the same thing. Estonian and Finnish sound more familiar because we use alot same words, only difference is they mean different thing. For example Hallitus-- in Estonian means mold. In finnish hallitus means coverment :D
Come on guys, why so many aggression in the comments?so yes, these guys are Americans and they just didn't know too much about Estonian culture/language. It doesn't mean that they don't respect you! They were happy to visit Estonia, I just hope after these fearceful comments their opinion would not change towards a more negative one! Also, I like Estonia but my native language is Russian. I just don't get it, why so many hate nowadays?if you would have lived some time in other countries( I personally lived in Spain and in the Uk) you would have realised that actually Estonians and Russians have a lot in common! I just don't get why do the neighbours have to fight all the time....
You know the guy at 07:20 ? He is one of the best barman's in Estonia.
how much did you spend @ Parrot?
Im Estonian tere hommikust/good morning

3:48 23% of pop has Russian past, but more than ~45% of the Russian jung all speak pure Estonian and say they are Estonian not Russian.
Estonian is not similiar to Russian, although Estonian does have some loaned words from Russian like "garaaž" (garage).
Absolutely loved tallinn when I was there last week, however the only thing i can say i was disappointed with was the Estonian food and i must say i didn't really eat at tourist traps.
Where Did You eat ? Thats The Point !
