This is such a valuable discussion regarding an endlessly fascinating subject. It reminded me of the the old video of Heifetz being quizzed by a group of college students about the most important attributes of an artist. "Enthusiasm" was on Heifetz' short list along with self respect (musically speaking) and integrity.
Thank you for these wonderful videos and for helping to "pass the torch."

Terrific intervew. As we get older, we cn different things to expand snd also keep in shape. Even Dounis, or the French School Etudse or Symphone Excerpts.Watching another Violinist, such as Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg can help U with Bow control or
    Other.🥀

Berlinski asks everyone about their practice routine and the answer he wants to hear is “scales and caprices.”

For some capricious individuals it's a must)

@@Berlinsky I teach sight reading at a very good conservatory in France (Superior Lyon) and often I see violinists fail to read simple scales, like we find so often in Beethoven or Mozart's sonatas. At that moment, I stop the performance then ask them if they know which scale is, then ask to perform one outside the sonata, just to see.
It always fails, young students go now for Tchaikovsky concerto before being able to perform a D major scale, amazing.
