Very nice. For the last several years I've been making cigar box guitars. Just made a cigar box theorbo and now starting on a cigar box viola da gamba. I'm glad to see others doing this. I love making instruments one cant buy in a store.
It was hard figuring out how to do it. When i started ther was one video of a guy who made a cello and that was it. It was crazy trying to figure out how this would work, but it in the end, that challenge was the most fun part.
@@male_npc You did very well. For me it has become second nature as I have been building musical instruments now for over 60 years. My ultimate challenge is to build a Viola Organista (invented by Leonardo da Vinci in 1485).
Geared tuners actually are fantastic for building homemade instruments. My 5 String Cello has those very same tuning machines which really make a huge difference on how easy it is to get this thing tuned to pitch.
The bow sounds like it needs significantly more rosin :( I hope that’s the only thing wrong with the sound, because otherwise I really REALLY wanna try making this at home
Sean Weiland Adding a Pickup to this thing so you can play through an amp & record more easily really would rock. Good thing it has Geared tuners so that tuning is easier. Helicore Strings & Dark Kaplan rosin ought to help alot w/ bowing.
I didn't do either. The "sound board" on this is the original top of the wine box. I did do a little reinforcing of the top that you could consider a base bar but in terms of what you would see on a modern cello it wasn't one :-p
@@male_npc thank you! I ended up not making a base board and have since finished my cello! Let me know if you’d like to take a look at it! Thanks mate :)
all moust nice video but but i hate now of day in tube people plaa plaa plaa about intrument what they have made.. but in the end dount even paly that tinkin....... i wonde what was the poin eve show the insturemint in the frist place
It's very beautiful. Congratulations!
Thank you so much.
very nice work

That is beautiful. You deserve to be very proud.
Thank you, I appreciate your compliment.
I made a 2 string cello from a shovel. I love the sound from a wine box body, and the beautiful construction.
Awesome! The shovel project sounds like fun. I did roughly 2 months of research before starting construction. It definitely paid off.

Lol, yeah. I'm not a cellist, and that was a brand new bow. It's really worth going through the process.

Awesome job! Gives me some medieval vibes as well :)
Maybe you could put some rosin on your bow so it's easier producing long notes
I never had to rosin up a new bow before, so I will entirely accept that I did not use enough 😅
I may have missed it. Did you put a bass bar and sound post in it?
Yes, I did. I honestly didn't even remember if I mentioned that in the video or not.
Very cool! Where did you get the neck?
I’m in the middle of building my own cello! Did you end up making a sound board and or bass bar for your cello?

@@jesregalado9896 heck yes I'd like to see it!
That's pretty cool. I should make a box cello, too.
Thanks, and heck yes you should. I'd love to see more examples of these. I had a lot of fun figuring out how to get it all together.
Did you use a regular cello neck for the project?
Claude indeed I did.
i’m getting ready to build something like this. what kind of strings are on there?
I remember they were standard cello strings, but I don't remember the brand off hand. I'll dig through my orders and see what I can find.
Nice job! It maybe your mic but it sounds like it may need a sound post.

Bien chevere pero falto alguien que lo tocara para poder apreciar su sonido
Sound too bad
tony tony I’m not sure I totally follow, but to be honest, I’ve never played a cello before. I have been nagged by many friends about my playing :-p
for a wine box cello and bowing way to low? not really
