Did you know ? The letter X, pronounced "cross", illustrates the intersection of the two disciplines of Cross Country and Hike & Fly. This is exactly where this new generation EN-B+ is positioned: at the crossroads of lightness and durability without compromising on performance.
The STEP X features a light-yet-durable construction, and replaces both the STEP and STEP LIGHT. The pilot demands and feeling of these three wings are similar. A pilot flying a STEP or STEP LIGHT will feel at home on the STEP X. The STEP X is the logical continuation of an entry-level EN-B and gives all the cards in hand to prepare for a switch to EN-C.

Thanks for this very comprehensive review. I have been flying a Supair Step X for one year now. I do agree with your assessment. I found it initially less confortable than my previous mid-B in bumpy air, but I was seating at the top of the weight range with my mid-B, and am now better centered in the weight range (2nd quartile from the top weight, just above middle weight, if you see what I mean) which explains the glider moves a bit more. So in fact quite a confortable and reassuring high B indeed, which is what I was looking for. Never got a bad surprise, even in strong conditions (bumpy air or thermals of +5m/s). The break pressure is light (elevators are thin: just check you don't have a twist on the C ones (brakes) before taking-off). I start to regularly fly cross-country (shorts ones: 30-40km, looking for more soon), I appreciate the ease during take-off (all conditions), the good climb rate and the efficiency in thermals (I easily feel if the core is rather on the left or on the right of the glider).
So many great gliders, so little time and money...
I was testing the X last year. Over all a nice Performance, very good climb. I agree at all of your professional tests ✌️😉
If you're looking for a very comfortable semi-light (light yet durable) high B wing with very easy launch, excellent climb rate and elegant handling, Flybubble Nancy and I recommend the Step X (Cross) should be high up on your list to consider! 😀😄
